The Raccoon Journal is a book that is the reward for the second request the Raccoon family does at the Giant Stump. After fulfilling the request the book can also be bought from the Raccoon's Wife for 999

It grants the player a power that makes weeds have a greater chance to yield mixed seeds. Using this book after obtaining the power will instead give some foraging XP.
