The Lucky Purple Shorts are an item obtained by going to Marnie's bedroom while the quest Mayor's Shorts is active and picking it up (don't give the shorts back to Lewis to keep it), or by using a staircase in Lewis's bedroom and completing the secret maze at the end (this process is repeatable to obtain multiple shorts).
