Unlike other forage items found on the ground, to obtain a Winter Root, you must dig with the Hoe. It's not necessary to dig at an Artifact Spot, although Winter Root may be found at Artifact Spots. A Winter Root may be found by digging any tillable soil in Stardew Valley outside of The Farm, including The Desert. They may also be grown from Winter Wild Seeds.

Occasionally they may be sold at the Traveling Cart or found in Garbage Cans in Winter. They may also be dropped by Blue Slimes (8% chance) in The Mines (floors 40-80) or Secret Woods.

Putting a Winter Root in a Seed Maker will generate 1-3 Winter Seeds.

Winter Roots give no foraging experience when harvested around town.

Bundles

Winter Root is used in the Winter Foraging Bundle in the Crafts Room.
