Hi All, inspired by a youtube short, I did some digging and found that the Fairy Rose doesn't actually increase the chance for the Crop Fairy event.
Initially I was trying to confirm that this does actually work. My plan was simple, modify the Stardew Predictor code to show a separate "Special Fairy" event when the crop fairy would fail the 1% chance but pass the 1.7% chance; then set everything up for the crop fairy; copy the save and in one just let the fairy happen while in the other remove the Fairy Rose and see it fail. Instead, it never happened. To check to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I changed to a normal crop fairy event (i.e. one which would pass the 1% chance), and it worked fine. So I did some digging in the code.
While the code clearly has checks, such as <samp>num = (Game1.getFarm().hasMatureFairyRoseTonight ? 0.007 : 0.0);</samp> followed by <samp>random.NextDouble() < 0.01 + num</samp> for the fairy event, and in Crop.NewDay, we see it try to set this flag via <samp>if (this.fullyGrown.Value && this.indexOfHarvest.Value != null && this.indexOfHarvest.Value != null && this.indexOfHarvest.Value == "595"){Game1.getFarm().hasMatureFairyRoseTonight = true;}</samp>, I don't see any valid location where it is setting <samp>this.fullyGrown.Value = true</samp>. Instead, the only locations I find are for regrowable crops when they are forced to be fully grown, and when they are harvested; and separately when spawning forage crops outside the farm. We can also see a comparison inside the harvest code where it has separate checks to see if a crop is fully grown rather than using that check.
So unless both my testing and code analysis are wrong, the Fairy Rose doesn't effect the change for the Crop Fairy event.

Obtaining earlier than fall
Do you think there is a way for you to get the fairy rose early as in like summer instead of fall? Maraneaenae (talk) 03:21, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- Earliest is probably just by buying a random rose from the Traveling Cart. Dubesor (talk) 15:20, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Crop Fairy
While the code clearly has checks, such as num = (Game1.getFarm().hasMatureFairyRoseTonight ? 0.007 : 0.0); followed by random.NextDouble() < 0.01 + num for the fairy event, and in Crop.NewDay, we see it try to set this flag via if (this.fullyGrown.Value && this.indexOfHarvest.Value != null && this.indexOfHarvest.Value != null && this.indexOfHarvest.Value == "595"){Game1.getFarm().hasMatureFairyRoseTonight = true;}, I don't see any valid location where it is setting this.fullyGrown.Value = true.
JackBlack69 (talk) 00:35, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
