Standardization of sources in items pages
Usually the fisrt paragraph in any item page is where it can be obtained, some items only have 1 source while other have 10+, those with many sources result in a vey confusing and slow to read paragraph making it very hard to find each specific source. In some pages, the sources are in a list from (e.g. Red Mushroom), while others are not (e.g. Emerald). I think the list format is much better and, in my opinion, should be the standard for items with many sources. I am open to work on this standardization if you agree with me Klytos (talk) 18:36, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- My goodness, you do like to jump from one project to another! In this case, items with few sources are listed in paragraph form, and when the paragraph gets too long or cumbersome, a list format can be adopted. There is no need to apply a standard to all pages without regard to content! Thank you, margotbean (talk) 19:06, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
Redirect pages
Hello Margotbean! I recently noticed that the farm maps redirect pages were really inconsistent, you could be redirected to the beach farm accesing "Beach Farm" but not "Beach Farm Map", and you couldn't be redirected to the hilltop farm accesing "Hiltop Farm", only "Hilltop Farm Map". In this example, some farm maps were only redirected if the page had "Map" in it and some if it didn't. To fix that I added redirect pages for all farm types with both "Map" in the title and not, adding the missing ones, only to be reverted by you.
Presented my argument could you please give a second thought on the pages? Maybe leaving only the ones without "Map", or with it, you decide. Thank you for your time Klytos (talk) 22:48, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Removed note on Crab Pot page.
You removed a note on the crab pot page without proper justification. There is no possible way to cite the precise amount of time taken, as it is highly variable depending on various ingame conditions.
I will restore it in 24 hours if you don't have a compelling reason not to.
I also kinda wanna note that the majority of current citations are either completely useless(because they don't actually reference anything the average player can access) or actively inaccurate, because various ingame conditions modify them. That being said, I did actually test the crab pot time ingame with 230 crab pots, and averaged around 40 extra minutes(compared to 90 normally).
The entire wiki's citation method needs a serious rework.
DemiserofD (talk) 21:18, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- The note consisted of advice-giving and was inappropriate to add in the first place. margotbean (talk) 02:21, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
Asking Questions
Hello, this is Jae Yoon Park.
I have a question to you.
On March 5th, 2025, Magma Sparker(Korean Page) was changed by you, and I tried to contact to you for a reason why it was changed.
To be exact, just to hear the reason. No anger, no conflict, not seeking fights.
Just asking questions.
Since I really love this game so I could give some hands for wiki pages especially Korean page.
But my work was not applied some works. Like changing gif file to none.
Was it the file size taking too much on it? or was it un nessesary for doing it? or was it some reason that needed to be change because of bug?
If you change some work without saying, I don't know which one should I change, improve or cautionus other pages.
With sincerely, Jae Yoon Park.
In case of lost contact, here's my email number for it, jaeyoonpark.bba@gmail.com
xhaktm1226 (talk) 21:45, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Your change was reverted because it was inconsistent with the other monsters pages. The Magma Sparker page has an animated .gif for the Magma Sparker, and the variations use Template:Name, with static .png files.
- Going forward, just look at similar pages within a type (other monsters, other crops, other trees, etc.) to know how they should all look, and keep them consistent with each other. Thanks, margotbean (talk) 05:04, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
==
Hello, margotbean, I have read your message, Thank you!
seeing other pages, and now I knew I should be careful with the consistency with other pages. Thank you for your kind explanation.
In my opinion, it would be nice to have a .gif file, but I agree your words with the consistency.
Once, I start editing other things, I might ask to you a lot of things to you or other admins for asking question.
it would be tiring some, but I would love to help.
Thank you, margotbean.

Removed Meowmere info
Please explain why you reverted my edit to the Meowmere page. Not only did you remove information with no explanation, as though it were somehow self-evident why it should be removed, you also marked it as a minor edit, even though removal of information is not supposed to be labeled as a minor edit. -Jatopian (talk|contribs) 03:04, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! The reasons the edit was reverted are:
- There is no punctuation, making the sentence a runon sentence
- The item has no relationship to the trivia bullet point it was added to
- The level of detail in describing the projectiles is excessive for the SDV wiki
- As for why the reversion was marked as minor: Mediawiki did that automatically. We are upgrading the mediawiki version, which should correct the problem. margotbean (talk) 17:24, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Permission as a regular user
Hi, I finished translation of the section "Fish size and quality" from English to German. The wiki won't allow me to publish it, because the edit size is too big: "Mass edit by new user". I can't post it on my user page either for preview. Thanks -- Vad (talk) 21:34, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, please read Help:Editing#New Editor Restriction. Thank you, margotbean (talk) 00:05, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
Wild Trees
The Mossy Seed explicitly refers to what the wiki currently has named "Green Rain Trees" as "Wild Trees." Since this is the canonical name for the trees, why was the page "Wild Tree" deleted? --NotAHamster (talk) 18:14, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
Ah I see, Tree Fertiliser also refers to all non-fruit trees as "wild," and this would overload the terms. Still, while Green Rain Tree is appropriately descriptive it's still an odd discrepancy where you might come to the wiki looking for information on "wild trees" but then find that this term doesn't exist here. Should a redirect/disambiguation page not be created? --NotAHamster (talk) 17:13, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
Enchantment Details
My edits (new account, CouldBeAHamster, didn't remember this username until after making those edits) adding information on enchantments to the watering can page are not adding any unnecessary detail, and information on tool upgrades is already duplicated from the Blacksmith page. For consistency shouldn't each tool page either not contain that information (about tool upgrades and prices) covered by the Blacksmith page, or also cover the information about which enchantments can be applied to it which is only present on the Forge page?
Regardless, there should surely be at least a reference to the Forge's enchantment functionality in the opening paragraphs informing a viewer that each tool can be enchanted at the forge, so that one is informed about all pertinent information about a tool on its page. --NotAHamster (talk) 18:14, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
Seaweed edit
Greetings, I have a question about your partial removal of my edit on the Seaweed page. Was there any particular reason for it? The order of the Crab Pot fish was changed to fit the in-game order of the fishing list (while minor, that made it consistent with the Fish page which keeps the tables ordered that way. Not worth an edit on its own, but while I was at it...). And the Tip section at the bottom is present on many other pages - acquiring resources like Stone, or items like Dwarf Scrolls. If Tips on item acquisition are not up with wiki policy, should those be removed as well? BridgeSeller (talk) 09:35, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
Inconsistent formatting for regrowable crops
Hi margotbean, for regrowable crop pages, such as the Ancient Fruit page, or the Strawberry page, or the Cranberries page, the formatting in the opening sentence is inconsistent. For example, the Ancient Fruit page reads "Thereafter, the mature plant yields another Ancient Fruit every 7 days", whereas the Strawberry page does not include a sentence about regrowability, whereas the Cranberries page includes this information after a comma, phrased as "and keeps producing fruit every 5 days after maturity."
I believe the wiki should have some consistency here. I'm happy to agree on a format, and then it can be changed for every regrowable crop page. Thanks, Swift To The Core (talk) 01:32, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
- That sounds like a good idea. You can choose the formatting. Have a think about what would sound best, and then go for it. Thank you! margotbean (talk) 19:41, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
Undoing edits
I've noticed that you tend to undo all edits that displease you instead of fixing their errors or providing good reason. I don't understand why you have been so adamant against every single edit I have made. I try to add advice, you remove it for a nonsensical reason. I add additional information about combat on the Skills page to keep it in line with the other skills + other mentions of the combat skill and you revert it with no reason at all. I try to clarify false information about a bug (which currently states in absolutes that it "will" occur despite my own experience proving otherwise), and you revert it saying that the point lacks citations, but do not remove the point entirely for the same reason or even correct its grammatical errors. My edit of the point only changed "will" to "may" to make room for exceptions and restructured the sentences; your insistence on keeping the previous, incorrect revision comes off as very petty.
I understand it must be hard being the sole moderator on a big wiki - I have been staff on five - but this feels unnecessarily hostile and frankly, targeted, especially when I can see from your previous talk pages that this kind of conduct has discouraged multiple other editors in the past. Having every single one of my edits combated on my very first day on the wiki, even if one of them was partially conceded, certainly doesn't compel me to contribute any more. I don't believe it's a good idea for any wiki to have only a single person at the helm making every decision on their own and I hope the wiki will take on additional staff in the future instead of being entirely shaped by the vision of one person. PeculiarFairies (talk) 19:21, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
Fish capitalization
I'm sorry, what do you mean by "Most pages list the fish in lowercase"? From what I can tell by searching, say, Anchovy, dominant majority of mentions are capitalized. The main Fish page (or Fishing) has no lowercase fish names from what I can tell. Many Quest sections on Fish pages list them capitalized already. The Smallmouth Bass has both capitalized and non-capitalized versions in there after you reverted my edit - so is either correct? If so, why the revert? If not, why not correct the capitalized version? In-game the fish names are always capitalized when a specific fish is mentioned (the only exception is a different-species Fish Pond message, and even that one isn't without an exception of its own!). What? Capitalizing fish names is consistent with most items being capitalized, and most fish mentions on the wiki are already capitalized. Please do not ignore this message. Please provide the many pages listing fish uncapitalized. Please. BridgeSeller (talk) 20:59, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! I looked at the Quests section of several pages (Carp, Albacore, Eel, Pufferfish, Catfish) and saw them in lowercase. I thus concluded that you were introducing inconsistency.
- If you wish to make a complete survey of capitalization on fish pages, and then introduce complete consistency, you are welcome to do so. However, it probably won't stay "perfect" and will take more time than it's worth. It's up to you, with my blessings. margotbean (talk) 00:25, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- I do plan to do so then. I've taken a look at most generally fish-related articles, as well as specific-species pages, and they seem to prove my point. As for "imperfect" and "impermanent" - there aren't any big upcoming changes fish pages will go through. If one is added with an update, whoever changes it will most likely capitalize it, following all other examples around. It's hard to step away from the standard. As a note, I'll be enacting the following changes for every fish's species page. From Pufferfish to Oyster.
- a) Every mention of a fish as an item will be capitalized (most, practically all already are). I will obviously not modify the direct quotes or descriptions from the game. Mostly just affects the "Quest" section.
- b) "Map" section: the wording used will be "The (fish) can be found ..." (keeping as is, adding "The" if it's missing). Some fish don't have "The" there, but most do, and I think it fits the species-wide description.
- c) I'll be adding "to be caught" to the Fishing lines in the "Quest" section. As it is written now, the same as Item Delivery quest, it's ambiguous and doesn't state the fish actually have to be caught for the quest. Aquatic Overpopulation, on the other hand, mentions it outright and has the same quest mechanics in-game. Makes it more clear as a whole. See Largemouth Bass#Quests for an example.
- Since the new user mass-edit restriction applies to talk pages as well for some reason, this one will be split. BridgeSeller (talk) 16:46, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- d) For fish it applies to, "It/(fish name) can also randomly be found in Garbage Cans during (seasons), or at the Traveling Cart for (price).". Mix-and-match depending on the other methods of acquisition, but what can you do? (Yes, this part is already present for most fish, but not all.)
- Normally I wouldn't describe standardization in such details, but it seems to be a good idea in this case, such as too prevent ~70 edits from being reverted. If you have any notes on the changes above or your own ideas on which standards should be introduced, please voice them here. I'll be moving on with the changes after receiving your feedback or in 2-3 days regardless.
- Sidenote: I would appreciate a response to the Seaweed section-question above. I understand your lack of time, and amount of energy required to patrol the wiki, but providing general guidelines for what can (not) or should (not) be present on the wiki (as well as style and criteria for such) might free up more time in the future, as editors will actually have rules to follow. Even if you have to point to some archived talk page you wrote up five years ago. Even if you just say "be more like Page1 and less like Page2_reverted_edit" ten times. BridgeSeller (talk) 16:48, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- All sounds fine, thank you for the note (x2)! As for seaweed, how is it that the Training Rod cannot catch anchovy, sardine, or herring on sunny days? margotbean (talk) 20:29, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- While my original edit lacked the fact it was specific to Summer days, I corrected it once I noticed I missed it. Summer Ocean has no fish catchable by Training Rod. Hence the only catchables are Trash items, Seaweed and Sea Jelly. It boosts the Seaweed output heavily compared to average fishing with other fish available (and at no effort or bait expense). Quite handy if you're planning on building a number Fish Ponds. BridgeSeller (talk) 21:49, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

Add Redirects for "Seed Spots" and "Artifact Spots".
I've noticed that most of the Stardew Valley Expanded Wiki uses "Artifact Spots" instead of "Artifact Spot". Would it be wiser to redirect it on the main wiki, or should it just be changed on the SVE Wiki? Makerman991 (talk) 01:14, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! I dislike redirects because they confuse translators and because people invariably link to the redirect instead of the actual page. (Depending on the redirect, this may be a little or wildly inappropriate.) So, no redirects on the main wiki, thanks! margotbean (talk) 03:37, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
Infoboxes for Desert Trader Furniture
Hi, I've noticed that the infoboxes on pages for furniture that can be purchased from the Desert Trader, such as Dark Piano, Birch Double Bed, or Butterfly Hutch do not include the price of these items in the infobox, and only have it hidden within the text of the page where it is more difficult to read. However, other pages like the Warp Totem: Desert include the price in a format of "Desert Trader for
Iridium Bar (10)"
I propose this should be the standard for all items purchased from the Desert Trader. This formatting already applies to Island Trader furniture items, such as the Tropical TV and the Tropical Double Bed. I would be happy to make the changes, just let me know what you think. Swift To The Core (talk) 06:01, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, fine idea! margotbean (talk) 07:00, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
Island Trader Icon
Hi margotbean (again!), I was just going through the Island Trader pages and trying to create some consistency in the Source(s) section of the infoboxes, because some had a little icon for the Island Trader and some did not.
Have a look at the Sources section on the Banana Pudding page and compare it to the Deluxe Retaining Soil page. One has the little Island Trader icon, and one doesn't. I was going through and removing the icon for pages that had it, but now that I've had a moment to think about this, I actually think it looks better with the little icon.
Let me know what you think, because I was thinking perhaps every page could include this icon, and it might even be nice to have a little icon for the Desert Trader item pages as well. Thanks, Swift To The Core (talk) 12:18, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hello again! I think the icon looks better too. The Desert Trader icon is larger, and may run into the icon for the trade item (vertically); try it out and see if you like it. margotbean (talk) 12:46, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
Bookseller Face Icon
Hi margotbean, I apologise for uploading the Bookseller Face Icon without explaining why it was uploaded. I put it in the infoboxes for all of the book pages in the Source section next to the word "Bookseller". I thought it looked quite nice, just wondering your thoughts on this. Swift To The Core (talk) 15:29, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
Island Trader find-and-replace
Hi margotbean, could you please do a find and replace across the wiki, turning "
Island Trader" into "
Island Trader" as I have recently learned it is the better formatting option. Thanks! Swift To The Core (talk) 05:37, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
Catalogue Trivia
Hi margotbean! Would it be appropriate to include the piece of trivia present on the Catalogue page, ie "This is one of the few items in the game that is spelled using British English instead of American English (where the -ue ending would be dropped, becoming catalog)." on all catalogue pages, such as the Trash Catalogue and the Retro Catalogue, or is it best just left exclusively on the basic Catalogue page as it is? Thanks! Swift To The Core (talk) 12:01, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- The trivia could probably be removed from the existing page. margotbean (talk) 23:26, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
Villagers Schedule Formatting
Hey Margotbean! Recently while playing I checked the schedule from the villagers a bit more often and it got a bit confusing sometimes to either check for the season first and then for the day, and on some pages there isn't a season indicator first but rather the specific days. Is there a reason for this? If there isn't, I would like to format it in a way, that every schedule page for the villagers is the same. I do like the format with the seasons first and then sort it. Greetings! Milaral (talk) 21:40, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Villagers whose schedules vary by season have seasonal headings, villagers whose schedules don't vary by season have all green headings. margotbean (talk) 23:25, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the Info! I'll do the same format on the german pages then, they need to be updated nonetheless. Milaral (talk) 07:51, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- The German wiki could use some loving attention! margotbean (talk) 11:51, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

Additional Tool Resource
Howdy! I'd like to respectfully request that my Stardew farm planning tool be considered for listing among the others on Stardew Valley Wiki#Resources. The planner was built to work seamlessly on both mobile and desktop, and since millions of Stardew players play on consoles or mobiles, often without easy access to a desktop, it would be wonderful if they could discover my tool that is accessible and friendly to mobiles. It is a passion project I have worked on for over half a year, it is highly accurate to the game itself and has enourmous amounts of polish, completely ad-free and free to use.
You can access and evaluate it here: StardewPlan.com -- Please feel free to remove the link after viewing as this is not intended to be spam. Happy to answer any questions! --Yooks (talk) 07:10, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
Catalogue furniture page consistency
Hi margotbean! I've noticed an inconsistency across furniture item pages. Some pages (like Wizard Table) include the 0g cost in the opening line, while others (like Wizard Bed) don't. Since the majority of pages include the cost, I believe that's the correct standard. Could you please do the following text replacements to standardise the catalogue furniture pages?
furniture available from the Wizard Catalogue. → furniture available from the Wizard Catalogue for 0.
furniture available from the Joja Furniture Catalogue. → furniture available from the Joja Furniture Catalogue for 0.
furniture available from the Junimo Catalogue. → furniture available from the Junimo Catalogue for 0.
furniture available from the Retro Catalogue. → furniture available from the Retro Catalogue for 0.

Ingredients Short List not updated
Hi margotbean, I'm not sure how high of a priority this is, but the IngredientsShortList on your user page (which I am unable to edit, because it is not my user page) is out of date and does not include any of the new required ingredients for crafting recipes, cooking recipes, and story quests as of 1.6.
I'm not sure if this would be an important problem with the wiki, since that page probably isn't very known about anyway, but I thought I would flag it to you regardless! Thanks, Swift To The Core (talk) 05:57, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
Autopetter from Dangerous Dust Sprite
I’m currently playing the game and was using the dangerous mines to complete my monster slayer goal, while killing 3 dust sprites, one dropped an autopetter, I came onto here to see if that has been noted as a mob drop for dangerous dust sprites and it has not. If you need evidence, I have a video of it dropping.
I play on the Nintendo Switch Lite, and have it updated to the newest version. I’ve never gotten an autopetter outside of the skull caverns or joja so I think it’s worth noting, however I’m not sure exactly how rare it is. Zmpb123 (talk) 02:54, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

Challenge bait and any Legendry Fish II
Brother why did you reverse it back to Legendry ? The Wiki itself is saying they're from the Legendry II type (if you seen Fishing page) and you make it back to Legendry ? Just say it to me why? AhmedGR (talk) 10:51, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
- Lengendary Fish II is not an actual in-game title, it's a heading someone came up with for the fish page. The link takes users to the correct section, so it's fine. Also, it's "Legendary", you keep forgetting the "a". Thanks for your comment, margotbean (talk) 15:31, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
Legendary Fish
Ok, am so Sorry about my Rudeness and I won't do it again if it hurts but can you explain why in the wiki it says that you can catch legendary fish only once ? Like there is no exceptions about using challenge bait and if you can edit it to add this exception AhmedGR (talk) 10:13, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
- I accept your apology, thanks. It's true, you can catch legendary fish only once. You may reel in 3 fish at one time by using challenge bait, but you can only hook and reel in (i.e., catch) a legendary fish one time. margotbean (talk) 14:09, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
Fish pages
Greetings! Haven't heard from you in a month, hope you've been well!
I'm fairly certain I've ran the standard of fish pages by you earlier. For example, d) For fish it applies to, "It/(fish name) can also randomly be found in Garbage Cans during (seasons), or at the Traveling Cart for (price).". It's what is used for most pages. It's easier to understand, as "Can be found at X, or Y under certain conditions" can be misinterpreted to mean both X and Y have conditions, as opposed to "Can be found at Y under certain conditions, or at X", which is clear as day.
I can create my own talk page in case you'd want to leave a helpful comment there before reverting all the edits you've approved. Seriously, it'll save a lot of work. Respectfully, BridgeSeller (talk) 00:18, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
Ice cream stand
Sorry, I was about to revert that myself; in addition to what you said in your edit summary, I didn't realize I should make a bug report first. Thanks for fixing that, and sorry again! I'll be more cautious in the future. Ashen (talk) 16:15, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
- No harm done, thanks for your comment! margotbean (talk) 16:52, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
Removed Edit
Hi Margotbean!
I made a small edit on Alex's page, and it was removed because the edit did't cite the release. You do a lot of work, and I'm sure this was easy to miss, but I never mentioned any release. I added to a sentence that did. I hope I don't come across as rude or petty, but just wanted to bring it up. Thanks for all you do! -- Lee The Penguin
- Hello! You could not know this, but the upcoming v1.6.16 and v1.7 may change the names of the data files. Can't edit Weather page
Hello, I'm running into an issue with a small edit to the Weather page being automatically blocked for "adding external links" despite my edit not adding any links at all.
I am attempting to clarify the wording in the little blurb describing how lightning rods function. The page currently says that "If Lightning Rods are placed anywhere on the farm, they have a good chance to intercept lightning strikes ..." and all I am attempting to change it to is "If Lightning Rods are placed anywhere on the farm, they have a chance to intercept lightning strikes regardless of where they are placed on the farm ..." because there is no guarantee that they will have a "good" chance of intercepting a lightning strike as that entirely depends on the number of lightning rods and how many have already intercepted a lightning strike that day.
The wiki automatically blocks the edit, saying:
Error: This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed.
Please read Help:Editing. Afterward, if you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do.
A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Adding external links
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. - Sm00thJa22 (talk) 22:33, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
- I've added the edit, margotbean (talk) 15:46, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
I appreciate that you have added the part about how they work "regardless of where they are placed on the farm" but I noticed that you changed the wording to say that they have a "very good chance" to intercept lightning strikes, which is not necessarily true and actually less accurate than the original wording. If, for example, there are many lightning rods on the farm and all but one of them have already intercepted a lighting strike that day, then there is in fact a very *poor* chance that the free lighting rod will intercept any lightning strikes. This is why I wanted to change the wording to simply say that "there is a chance to intercept lightning strikes", which is accurate without claiming anything about how good of a chance that is since the exact likelihood is already covered in detail on the Lightning Rod page: Lightning Rod#Chance to Intercept. Also, any idea why the wiki page still blocks a simple edit like this claiming that it is "adding external links" when no links at all are being added? - Sm00thJa22 (talk) 21:27, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- "Very good chance" is the original wording, as it is a direct quote from ConcernedApe, thus the reason it's in quotes.
- Any edit to a paragraph or section containing an external link counts as an edit to an external link. margotbean (talk) 21:44, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. That is terribly unfortunate wording on the part of ConcernedApe. Would it still not be more accurate to simply change it to "there is a chance to intercept lightning strikes" which is factually correct instead of using a direct quote that is factually incorrect?
- I see now why the edit is blocked, because both this bullet point about lightning rods and the one above it about lighting not striking chests have references improperly embedded directly into the bullet points both linking to the same external reddit post by ConcernedApe. I noticed that this creates two identical entries in the references section at the bottom of the page, one of them being completely superfluous. I propose moving these external references to a single entry in the reference section where it belongs and referencing it using the proper "ref name=" tag in the two bullet points to keep the format in line with the rest of the wiki. I would do this myself but, as it involves external links, any edit I make involving them is blocked. - Sm00thJa22 (talk) 21:54, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

- I see now why the edit is blocked, because both this bullet point about lightning rods and the one above it about lighting not striking chests have references improperly embedded directly into the bullet points both linking to the same external reddit post by ConcernedApe. Proficiency
Hi! Just joined but was looking at this and I noticed this: At skill level 0, each successful use of a Pickaxe, Axe, or Hoe costs 2 energy. Unsuccessful uses (e.g., attempting to chop a Large Log with the starter axe) cost 1 energy. Each cast of the Fishing Pole costs 8 energy, even if the cast fails (e.g., the fishing line does not land in water). The starter Watering Can uses 2 energy.
-Is there a way to group the water can with the other two energy usage tools? Or is it because the water can uses two energy regardless if u miss or not?, just wondering, bye! AcroCrafter (talk) 04:16, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

Tree Fertilizer keeps working after a tree is fully grown
Hi! First time for me to suggest something. This is something I've actually tested myself for the purpose of growing Moss. Tree Fertilizer guarantees that an affected tree will gain a stage of growth every day, but the pages for Moss, Trees, and Tree Fertilizer don't clarify the fact that the effect of Tree Fertilizer remains in place after the tree is fully grown. My opinion is that one or more of those pages should include that information so that players can more effectively grow Moss. Robotbarracuda (talk) 06:28, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hello and welcome! Your comment seems to indicate that (1) Trees continue to gain stages of growth past "fully-grown", and (2) The stage of growth continues to increase the chance that a tree will grow moss. But, neither of these things is stated on the wiki (that I know of). And so, (without consulting the code), it seems those things need to be elucidated before adding the info you're suggesting. margotbean (talk) 16:34, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks! First thing, Trees (specifically the 5 tree sprites that can grow Moss) absolutely do continue to gain stages of growth past fully-grown, and this fact is stated on the page for Moss explaining the requirements for its growth. A fully-grown tree that can grow Moss, such as a Pine Tree, is at growth stage 5 on the day that it attains its full-sized sprite. The pages for both Moss and Trees state that there are an additional 10 growth stages after a common Tree has reached its full size, for a total of 15 growth stages (the last 10 growth stages have no in-game visual indication). In order to grow Moss, a Tree must be at least growth stage 14. Where Tree Fertilizer comes into the equation is in guaranteeing stages of growth over time. Without Tree Fertilizer, the chance for a common Tree to gain a stage of growth is 20%. This chance stays in place after growth stage 5, if no Tree Fertilizer is applied. The chance bumps to 100% if you slather a young Tree with Fertilizer. The point I'm trying to make here is that the effect of Tree Fertilizer stays in place after the Tree is fully grown, which means that the Tree is guaranteed to reach growth stage 14 on the 9th day following its transformation into its full size. Moss itself also has an effect on this because harvesting Moss from a Tree drops its growth stage back down to 10 or 11, requiring you to wait for it to reach stage 14 again before it can regrow the Moss. Again, the effect of Tree Fertilizer is still present for every part of this process, guaranteeing stages of growth every single day. This makes Tree Fertilizer a valuable resource for speeding up and making more consistent the process of growing and harvesting Moss. I think it would be beneficial for players and the overall completeness of the Wiki if any of the relevant pages included this as a strategy. You can actually test all of this yourself in-game like I did; If you use the Item ID Glitch to give yourself Pine Cones and Tree Fertilizer, you can plant them and apply the Fertilizer, then wait. Just clear some farm space and leave most of the Trees alone that were present when you began the save file. Once you reach Spring 16 (if you planted on day 2 of Spring) about 10% of the Trees you slathered with Fertilizer should grow some Moss, while almost none of the rest of the Trees in the valley will have Moss on them. Let me know if there's a piece of this process that you have any questions about. Robotbarracuda (talk) 08:25, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
- Is this enough info for an addition to a page or do you require something else to be explained? Robotbarracuda (talk) 23:42, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- We need code references for the relevant points. We also need to describe the phenomenon in as few words as possible! I think that covers it margotbean (talk) 17:14, 17 July 2026 (UTC)
- If I were to write up an addition to a page it would probably go under the Moss page, likely as a "note" or "strategy" section.
- "Because the effect of Tree Fertilizer is not erased upon a tree becoming fully grown, applying Tree Fertilizer can make the process of growing moss faster and more consistent by guaranteeing that a tree gains a growth stage every day, including after moss has been harvested."
- Something like that. As far as code references go, I have to admit that I have no idea how I would go about finding that for you. Robotbarracuda (talk) 19:06, 17 July 2026 (UTC)

Page Creation
Hi there,
There's a number of redirects I'd like to create to make the wiki's browsing experience more fluid, but whenever I try making a new page, I'm hit with this message:
Error: This action has been automatically identified as potentially harmful, and therefore disallowed.
A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: New user created redirect
I attempted to bypass this error by creating a blank page first and then editing redirect code into it, but while I succeeded in creating an empty page, attempting to turn it into a redirect resulted in the same error. My account is over two years old and autoconfirmed, so I'm not a "new user" in any standard sense. Does an account have to be explicitly whitelisted to create new redirects? User:Gold Meddle 16 July 2026
- Hello! Unnecessary redirects are undesirable because eventually pages link to the redirect instead of the source page. They create a snarled mess that translators find difficult to navigate. Thanks for your comment, margotbean (talk) 15:38, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
Clara Mullner move
Hi Margotbean! I'm hoping you can move Clara Mullner to Clara to be faithful to her name in Stardew. There was some relevant conversation at Talk:Clara Mullner a few years ago, but it looks like that project has stalled. Please let me know if I can be helpful in any way. Korean "Getting Started" image
Hello Margotbean!
I'm leaving this message because I'd love to contribute a bit to the Korean Stardew Valley Wiki.
I noticed the image(Getting Started - Wiki KO.png) at the very top of the Korean “Getting Started” page, which features the Korean text "시작 안내서" (corresponding to the text "Getting Started Guide" in the English version). While the translation itself is completely accurate and well done, I wanted to bring up a minor detail regarding the font choice.
Currently, the Korean image uses a standard system font, which feels a bit like using ‘Arial’ or ‘Comic Sans’ in English. Since the English version uses a lovely pixel-style font that fits the game’s aesthetic perfectly, I thought it would look much better if the Korean header matched that same pixel art style.
I found a free Korean pixel font and recreated the header image myself. I’d love for you to take a look and, if you think it looks good, consider updating the current image with this new version!
Regarding font licensing: the font I used is distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, so it is completely free and cleared for commercial and non-commercial use on the wiki.
You can preview the edited image here: Imgur link
Since I wrote this with the help of a translator and am still quite new to wiki editing, I hope everything is clear and that I followed the proper etiquette. Thank you for all your hard work on the wiki!
Best regards, 보라리 (talk) 16:23, 26 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! I have uploaded the image, it should update itself soon (within 4 hours at most). Thank you for the updated font! margotbean (talk) 17:25, 26 August 2026 (UTC)
Edit proposals
Greeting, I am here to approve some of the edits I think would be nice.
1) Quests page -> add to Bugs section: Catfish and Red Snapper being able to be requested during Winter for Fishing quest. This is a bug, as it's noted to have been fixed in 1.4.4 and 1.6.4 respectively in the patch notes. It has not been fixed.
2) Cindersap Forest -> add to Bugs section: Sardine being able to be requested by Trash Bear during Summer. Sardine is not a Summer seasonable fish and has a history of being removed from various quest lists due to that (see Version History). While it's not explicitly noted in patch notes, it's fairly obviously not an intended outcome. Also - I'd link the function it uses in References since it's unique to the Trash Bear (likely thus the unique oversight).
3) An edit to Seaweed page, describing a method to obtain large qualities of an item. Such tips already exist on the wiki, on pages like Stone or Dwarf Scroll 1 & 4. The text I have in mind is: "The player may obtain large quantities of Seaweed by fishing on the Beach during sunny Summer days using Training Rod, as it's the only available catch outside of Trash and Sea Jelly." During sunny Summer days Training Rod cannot hook any fish due to the limited pool available - not Sardines, not Anchovy, not Herring, not Red Snapper. It is the only consistent way to do so, too.
I am interested in what you think about these changes. BridgeSeller (talk) 09:22, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! The edit to the Seaweed page is good. Please don't forget to specify "sunny summer days". For the 3 bugs, please report them on the forums first. If you can provide code references, all the better. It's not a guarantee that they will be fixed, but it increases the chances dramatically. After that, it would be more appropriate to add the Catfish & Red Snapper bugs to the individual pages instead of the Quests page, since it's not a problem with the quest system, but with the item chosen for the quest. (A fine point, but an important one from the player perspective.) For the Sardine/Trash Bear bug, yes, please add that to the Cindersap Forest page and include the code reference. Thank you, margotbean (talk) 17:06, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
- I have reported Red Snapper and Catfish issue earlier this year, posted one about Trash Bear just now. They have been mentioned before years ago but it never hurts to bring more light to the issue.
- Given that I will be "previewing" some more edits and suggestions here, how should they be handled? A continuation of this section or a new section for every couple of them? (Doubt it would be efficient to have a section per single edit unless it's particularly large). BridgeSeller (talk) 19:53, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
- I would appreciate a separate section for every separate category or group of edits! margotbean (talk) 21:41, 30 August 2026 (UTC)

What next... 1) You can only receive a Pearl from Willy during 14 days after filling the Crab Pond fully, which is not mentioned on the wiki currently. Fish Pond. Pearl and Crab pages need to have the time limit added. I'll probably only Reference the code on Crab page though.
2) Fiddlehead Fern is a Vegetable which is not accepted in Pierre's Prime Produce Special Order, unlike any other vegetable. (due to being a foraged item which that SO excludes). A note on Quests page under that SO's requirements section: (except Fiddlehead Fern).
3) Tool pages don't mention enchantments consistently. Even if doubling up on full section on all the pages isn't worth it, nothing stops it from being practically empty, containing just a link, like Energy Cost is. Enchantments are a major endgame mechanic, having quick access to the info while viewing tools is fairly useful. BridgeSeller (talk) 12:35, 31 August 2026 (UTC)
- Yes to #1, please proceed. I've added a note for #2 to the Quests page already. For #3, I think we can potentially mention enchantments, but I don't like the idea of adding another heading and link to every tool page. Mentioning enchantments in the same sentence as upgrades at the blacksmith might be better (or immediately after the blacksmith sentence). But, then the Pans page has a different format than the other tools; I think maybe changing the heading from "Grades of Pan" to "Upgrades" and then explaining that they can be upgraded at the blacksmith or enchanted before presenting the table of upgrades might work for that page.
Specific enchantments that apply to that tool are mentioned on at least some tool pages already; I think users at the end-game stage already know what they are, so perhaps we don't need to make any changes at all. Let's open the discussion for further comment to other editors. margotbean (talk) 16:25, 31 August 2026 (UTC)
- Fish Pond page is protected, so you'd have to add that one, I've done the other two.
- For tool enchantments, I think mentioning it in initial description is a viable alternative, will probably look better that way. Separate line from blacksmith, immediately after, yeah, it's different enough. For Pans... Can't we just add the same structure as the other pages? Well, most. Pickaxes have a bit different structure from Axes, Hoes and WCans, but those three just have the line "The X may be upgraded at the Blacksmith. The cost and resource requirements for each upgrade are shown in the table below." which fits the theme and explains everything without having to change up other sections. The line after can give brief explanation of "Upgraded pans have better chances to get items (gotta rework this line but you get the idea)".
- 4) Oh yeah, Blacksmith's Upgrade Tools section needs to be updated to mention Pans, just "and Pans" a few times + a line explaining what upgraded pans do better like for other tools. BridgeSeller (talk) 12:45, 1 September 2026 (UTC)
- Returning to this proposal, given that it's been a week with no activity from other editors, which does seem the norm.
- To clarify, the only point not resolved is 3), about adding a line about Enchantments to tool pages. Axes, Hoes, Pickaxes, Watering Cans, and Pans have one page each for five total, while Fishing Poles have another five separate pages. I do think your idea of making it a single line after Blacksmith mention is more viable than an empty section, so:
- "The [Tool] can be enchanted at the Forge at the cost of one
Prismatic Shard and 20
Cinder Shards." That, or "The [Tool] can be given a random enchantment at the Forge." Any thoughts? The first one is a bit flashy and spoiler-y. - 5) I'll also standardize Pans and Pickaxe article while at it. Pans are missing the usual line of "It can be upgraded at the Blacksmith. The cost and resource requirements for each upgrade are shown in the table below. Updraged versions of the Pan yield more items from panning while also having higher chance to spawn another panning spot." in the header, probably from the times it wasn't upgradeable. Pickaxe just has that line at Grades of Pickaxe section instead of the header. Not a problem per se, but it's different for no reason, I'll move it to the header.
- I'm interested to see what you think about the subject at hand. BridgeSeller (talk) 19:37, 8 September 2026 (UTC)
- Definitely "The [Tool] can be given a random enchantment at the Forge." over the flashier version! The edits you propose in #5 also seem fine, please proceed. Thank you, margotbean (talk) 00:17, 9 September 2026 (UTC)

1) There's an interaction between Special Orders and Journal which would serve a nice Trivia point. Due to the fact Special Orders check if a copy already exists in Journal before spawning one on SO Board on Monday (to avoid overlaps), the player can avoid repeating certain Orders (thus getting more of preferable ones) by keeping them completed in their Journal without redeeming the reward. It's quite useful in filtering unnecessary Orders.
2) Shop pages generally don't note interactions with various festivals properly. To clarify: something like Carpenter's Shop has a note "The shop is also closed on all festival days." It's inaccurate, as the shop is open on festivals which occur late in the day (Midnight Jellies & alike) and festivals where time continues to pass normally like Desert Festival. I'm planning to add a note on that to shops, though I'm planning to double-check it in-game beforehand to make sure they do function the same way, who knows.
2.5) Speaking of Shop Schedules, it's missing some of newer festivals like Trout Derby. Once again, I'll update it with the missing names after checking. Also, Travelling Cart is available on Night Market and Desert Festival - add to Additional Notes part.
3) Current Pets description states the pet is not adopted if the cutscene is skipped, yet 1.6 patch notes state that "You can now skip the pet adoption scene, which causes you to adopt the pet." It's adopted with a default name which is already noted above.
4) Blacksmith's Upgrade Tools section needs to be updated to mention Pans, just "and Pans" a few times + a line explaining what upgraded pans do better like for other tools.
I'm interested to see what you think about these changes. BridgeSeller (talk) 14:17, 6 September 2026 (UTC)
- #1 sounds like a helpful tip, #2 sounds like an unfinished thought, please report back after you are sure of the facts, #2.5 sounds good, #3 sounds like everyone else forgot to update the page, please proceed, #4 sounds good. Thank you, margotbean (talk) 16:39, 6 September 2026 (UTC)
- I have checked the in-game behavior and it's consistent with Shop Schedules page. Four festivals (Desert Festival, Trout Derby, SquidFest and Night Market) have everything open due to being freely entered-and-exited, two (Dance of the Moonlight Jellies and Spirit's Eve) have everything open due to being extremely late in the day. I will be updating Shop Schedules page and Festivals page to note that. (Note that I will rearrange previously existing lines to have these four/two festivals in chronological order above. It just makes sense + will be consistent across the pages).
- Another point is updating the shops. Adventurer's Guild, Blacksmith, Carpenter's Shop, Fish Shop, Harvey's Clinic, JojaMart, Marnie's Ranch, Pierre's General Store, and The Stardrop Saloon are relevant shops which close on all festivals except for the six mentioned above. Something simple like "The shop is closed on all festival days, with exception of Desert Festival, Trout Derby, SquidFest and Night Market, as well as Dance of the Moonlight Jellies and Spirit's Eve" could work. I don't think there's a point in explaining 'why' these six, as the info is present on both Festival and Shop Schedule pages.
- This line would just be added to the header/elsewhere where it fits depending on the page structure. Might be adjusted in cases like Fish Shop not being accessible during DMJ. I think that's all there is to it, do tell what you think. BridgeSeller (talk) 14:17, 8 September 2026 (UTC)
- This sounds perfectly reasonable. Thank you for double-checking! Please proceed with these changes. margotbean (talk) 16:14, 8 September 2026 (UTC)
Requesting Review for Revision 194269 of Friendship
Hello there! I just edited the Friendship page, but it has been (automatically?) reverted. It seems that this happened because I did not make an edit proposal beforehand. I was not aware of this practice. Sorry about that!
I tried to rewrite the page because several kinds of information are currently mixed together at the same hierarchy level under #friendship_mechanics, which is a very broad umbrella term that covers just about everything related to friendship. The section covers many of the ways the game can change friendship points, but it is not organized in a way that focuses on how the player actually interacts with the system.
Therefore, I broke the page down into several top-level sections:
- What is Friendship and how to read it.
- How to gain (or lose) friendship.
- What are the benefits of maintaining high friendship.
- How gifts work.
I hoped that giving the page clearer sections could also help other editors find the appropriate place to add more information.
I tried to remove only repetitive content from the page while adding a few minor remarks during the process. I also changed 2nd-person phrasing to 3rd-person wherever I could.
Do you think these changes could be worthwhile? Aquila zyy (talk) 21:56, 10 September 2026 (UTC)
You believe it's a bug?
The thing about opening containers at the blacksmith I mean. I don't think that is the case. Before I got my Treasure Appraisal Guide I did a little bit of testing. I had 36 Artifact Troves and I split them into stacks of 6, 10 and 20. Then I got 9 new ones and checked what is inside. After that I started stacking them with the old ones starting with 6, then 10 and finally 20, after which I got the book. But no matter which stack I picked the contents were very similar. As another example I will use Golden Coconuts. When I had 1 and opened it I got a Fossilized Skull, then when I opened another 1 I got the same. But after stacking these 2, 1st I got the Fossilized Skull again, but the 2nd gave me a Golden Helmet.
So I think the contents work pretty much like the Prize Machine i.e. it's like a deck of cards and you always keep getting the card on top. BUT I believe there is another script which prevents the contents of these containers to be too samey. And this script likely tracks your save file on how many of these containers you currently have in your possession in total. And so if the contents become too repetitive for certain items it adds more variation. This is likely to prevent annoying situations like you have 100 Geode's to open and a 3rd of them gives you stones. --Unsigned comment by Victor Drunkenstein 29 September 2026
Ostrich egg
Hi! I had recently edited the ostrich egg location since I received one as a reward from the raccoons. This was not a part of the main quest for the raccoons, since I have already finished that. I play on the switch if that matters. LivofIsengard LivofIsengard (talk) 16:57, 5 October 2026 (UTC)

Awkward Leo like wording
I decided to put this in your talk page because I wasn't sure what the best wording would be. Currently, Leo's Like's states "All Universal Likes (except Beer, Coffee, Mead, Pale Ale, Piña Colada, Wine, and Cooking other than Bread, Fried Egg, Poi, Mango Sticky Rice, & Triple Shot Espresso)". This is difficult to parse and, when parsed correctly, is incorrect. The 5 listed cooking items are under a double negative, suggesting Leo likes them. However, the only one that Leo actually likes is Mango Sticky Rice. Bread+Fried Egg are Universal Neutrals (with Leo following in that trend), Poi is a Leo-loved, and Triple Shot Espresso is a Leo-hated.
I think it would make more sense to word it either as "All Universal Likes (except Beer, Coffee, Mead, Pale Ale, Piña Colada, Wine, and Cooking)" (recognizing that this technically says that Mango Sticky Rice isn't liked but then gets overwritten by the explicit mention below) or as "All Universal Likes (except Beer, Coffee, Mead, Pale Ale, Piña Colada, Wine, and Cooking other than Mango Sticky Rice)" (recognizing that this makes Mango Sticky Rice show up twice semi-redundantly). I'm biased towards the first one personally, though I see that you previously kept Mango Sticky Rice on the list in revision 120215. CandyNim (talk) 19:50, 16 October 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Yes, the gift tastes are difficult to parse mentally, but they all suffer from the same issues. A double negative in these cases doesn't mean the two cancel each other, it simply means the villager feels differently about the item, possibly they feel a way that's unspecified in that particular section of their page. So, as a player, you cannot necessarily get the whole picture of their gift preferences unless you check all sections (loved/liked, etc). It's just the complex nature of gifting. margotbean (talk) 20:47, 16 October 2026 (UTC)
- If I simplify the sentence by removing a bunch of things, the statement "Leo likes All Universal Likes (except Cooking other than Bread)" communicates to me that Bread is something he likes, rather than saying that "Bread is a universal neutral so it was never part of the category of Universal Likes in the first place". I think the two negatives absolutely cancel themselves out grammatically, and including things in that other-than section that he doesn't like makes it less informative. I feel like removing bread/fried egg/poi/triple shot espresso makes it strictly less confusing and more informative. This list of items already exists in his Dislike section where it goes "All Cooked Dishes (other than Bread, Fried Egg, Mango Sticky Rice, Poi, & Triple Shot Espresso)" which is correct, as all 5 of those items are not disliked.
- Again I'm going to use Bread as the example. Is there any benefit to including it in the Likes sentence? A new user reading the Leo page would see Bread mentioned as an exception to the Dislike, and as an exception to the exception of the Universal Likes. It is already *currently* true that the way to find out whether Leo likes Bread is by checking the Universal Dislikes (or the bread page specifically), but by including it on the list of exceptions just adds a new way to misread it. Trimming down the list to only include Mango Sticky Rice makes it flow substantially better and removes the possibility of misreading. Sure, gift preferences are complicated. But the current wording is needlessly complicated, and could be made simpler via either of the wordings I mentioned above without losing any accuracy (and in my opinion, gaining accuracy, as you're no longer supposed to divine that this is a canceled-double negative for only 1 of the 5 things on the list, and the other 4 things simply badly worded). CandyNim (talk) 22:02, 16 October 2026 (UTC)
