Feedback

Hi, I'm open to feedback on my submission to the wiki page that you reversed. I'd appreciate feedback rather than just deleting it without explanation. :)Teageen (talk) 01:50, 16 July 2025 (UTC)

Here are the top three reasons the edit was reverted:

1. The wiki doesn't include lengthy paragraphs written to dispel myths that are circulating in an undisclosed location nine years after the game's release.
2. The language of the wiki uses third person, in an encyclopediac tone rather than second person advice-giving.
3. The paragraph includes the probability of landing on green without any supporting calculations.

Thank you for your response. I apologize for posting it back after you removed it; I didn't realize you were an admin since your username didn't have any tags or badges or anything to indicate that in the History page, so I thought it was just any other random person doing it. I am happy to add sources, and I already have them ready, but I didn't add them yet because I don't understand how to format them and I didn't want to mess up the sources that are already in there. I spent at least 30 minutes looking for information on how to do that, but I seem to not know the terminology to use to get applicable results. Is there a guide somewhere that explains that? I didn't see one in the Help Editing page or the site linked to in the editing images section of that page. Also, your response in your first bullet point and your emphasis on "there are more" at the end seems a little bit unnecessarily mean. I understand that it's probably annoying to moderate a wiki, in the same way that it's annoying to interact with the public in any user/customer service position, and I appreciate your work. That said, I was making an effort to add information that I had difficulty finding myself when looking into this, because I thought it would be helpful to other people, and I'd like to fix my contribution to meet the standards needed to post it. If there had been a notice when I went to edit the page telling me to read the Help Editing page before contributing, or to contact a mod for permission first, I would have done so. But I read everything on that screen and it didn't say anything like that so I figured it would be ok, and if I needed to change it, someone would tell me what to fix about it or just fix it themselves. I have now read the Help Editing page, so I understand that this is not any other wiki or Wikipedia, and so the rules don't be the same, but based on my experience with Wikipedia pages, it is fairly normal to have things posted that don't necessarily have sources linked immediately, or to have phrasing changed by someone else later, so I didn't think it would be a big deal to add them later. I now understand this wiki has higher standards, and I am happy to adjust my contribution accordingly. New Skills Tab Icon

I tried to upload a new version of File:Skills Tab Icon.png without an extra white pixel on the top left of the icon (see version here), and MediaWiki simply duplicated the older version while displaying the size of the new version (453b). I don't know if it's a cache problem. I tried to purge the page, but nothing changed, at least on my side. Sapador (talk) 16:19, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Crafting Ingredients (again)

While working on my crafting ingredients list, I wanted to check my math by comparing my numbers to your list at User:Margotbean/IngredientsShortList. The crafting list on that page appears to be for v1.5 (it includes Dwarf Gadget) but has not been updated for v1.6, missing Bait, Cave Jelly, River Jelly, Sea Jelly, and other ingredients new in v1.6. It would be helpful to either update your list or mark it as v1.5. I am willing to update the page to mark the list as v1.5, but I didn't want to do it without your go-ahead, since it's a user page. Users cannot edit other people's user pages. That page wasn't meant to be a reference for the wiki, merely a proof of concept idea. It is indeed outdated, and I have no plans to update it, I'm sorry! margotbean (talk) 22:20, 4 August 2025 (UTC)

The tips were opinions, not facts, poorly written as advice-giving, and in some cases impossible to follow (e.g., "Be sure to grow a giant Qi Fruit"). So, not actually helpful. See Help:Editing for more guidance. margotbean (talk) 19:33, 13 August 2025 (UTC)

Ok, I understand. It's quite frustrating, if your edits get reverted as soon as you join a new wiki. I try to find a better and more factual way to put it.
