Edits on Crops, Spring, and Summer
Hi margotbean, I hope you enjoyed (or still are enjoying) your holidays. I see that you added back the value of
13.33g/d to summer squash on both the Crops and Summer pages, but I'm still not sure why you undid the other formatting edits I did on those three pages.
I would appreciate if you could review this changes again when you have time, and should they be ok, perform these edits to the Spring and Summer pages (seeing how you locked all season pages to be only editable by admins). Alt (talk) 08:37, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- Nothing has changed, I reviewed the edits and the pages are fine margotbean (talk) 23:04, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, I'm not saying the pages weren't fine already, and I really don't mean to be a bother, but I just don't see what's wrong with keeping the formatting of those crop entries consistent across (and within) these three pages. I've edited other wikis before, and inconsistent formatting is something that always irritates me to some extend (I realise this could just be me), so whenever I see inconsistencies in any wiki I read, I always feel an urge to unify the formatting if I can. Also, I re-read Help:Editing again, and I realise I did not discuss any of those changes beforehand, per Help:Editing#Formatting; I sincerely apologise for that. Potatoes gold per day on the spring page shows 5 but it should be either 7.5 for one crop or 9.375 with 1.25 multiplier for chance of second potato. Melmaso (talk) 11:19, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
Sale price = 80 Seed price = 50 Profit = 30 Growing days = 4 Profit/day = 30/4 = 7.5
Sale price x 1.25 = 100 Profit = sale price x 1.25 - seed price = 70 Profit/day = 70/4 = 17.5 (So my previous post had an error on the second potato calculation. But this one should be right) Melmaso (talk) 11:32, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
Oof, the formatting is not how I typed it. It is showing it as a single paragraph, but I separated all the definitions and calculations onto separate rows... Sorry it is hard to read, I'll need to figure out how to format it right at some point Melmaso (talk) 11:33, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
I also wish I knew how to edit my posts without having to just make a new post
For the second potato calculation I see my error
Sale price = 80 x 1.25 = 100
Seed price = 50
Profit = 50
Days to harvest = 6
Gold per day = profit/days to harvest = 50/6 = 8.33
Oh and duh, now I see my error on the first calculation, I used 4 days as opposed to 6 days... Sorry for the rant. No change necessary Melmaso (talk) 11:54, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
RE: Journal Scrap #9 solution order
Hello MargotBean, I hope you are well. The upkeep of the wiki has been amazing throughout these past upgrades to v1.6+. A certain issue in the wiki has bothered me for some time. RE: Journal Scrap #9, in the solution section, the 2 solutions were listed in the wrong order. The note hints, "Aye... stones as big as 'ones' and stones as big as 'fives' were they..." therefore the numbers directly UNDER the images should be the 2nd shown sequence of "2 clicks, 11 clicks, 9 clicks, 5 clicks, 7 clicks" because this corresponds to the note's hint (2 small stones = 2), (2 large + 1 small = 11), (1 large + 4 small = 9), (1 large = 5), and finally (1 large + 2 small = 7). Then the 2nd sequence, which is 1 note less on each stone than the hint implies, listed as an alternative solution. I believe this alternative may seem to work better for some players not on PC (mobile possibly) but it is not the solution to the hint in the note and should be relegated to the second row. I made the change today, I just don't know how, or if, I'm supposed to do this in other languages. Best Regards, Carpediem (talk) 20:29, 9 January 2025 (UTC) Edit: I also belatedly just made this adjustment on the Ginger Island / Mermaid section to switch the order of the 2 solutions (I didn't initially realize it was in another location). Both of these were done on the English wiki only. Carpediem (talk) 22:04, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- That sounds fine, and thanks for your note! Interestingly enough, there was a survey among testers when 1.5 was in beta asking if they thought "5" meant "5 clicks" or "get the flute block to the 5th note". I think musically inclined people (like ConcernedApe) might think differently about the puzzle than others. I can't remember the results of the survey, unfortunately... margotbean (talk) 01:07, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hmmm, interesting indeed. I guess I don't see the difference. When 2 big stones will equal 10 and 1 small stone is 1, then 11 "clicks", or "Check / Do Action / Use Cursor" on whatever platform, would bring that fluteblock for the 2nd grouping to its 11th note and thus create the correct sound at that point in the riddle. Maybe "clicks" is not the best wording then? Thanks again, be well. Carpediem (talk) 20:56, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm going to give a quick code insight by the way and note that the game only cares about relative pitch; in fact, this means that the first note block can be *any value* and as long as you go the correct amount up and down for each following block it's valid. The only limitation is that you can't loop around the 24, but that still means there are as many as 16 different valid solutions. So while it's peculiar, 0 9 7 3 5 clicks and 15 24 22 18 20 clicks both work. I don't know if you want to include that or not but it does make saying there's just 2 is incorrect. But I suppose the two listed are the two most intended solutions.CandyNim (talk) 06:43, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, that's very interesting. In the beginning there was just the one solution in the wiki and it corresponded to the actual Stone Tuning Key image and the visible position of the stones. A second solution was added at some point and I believe this one was easier for mobile users for some reason (at least according to the SDV subreddit) but it was placed directly under the image, moving the actual solution for the image down a line, with the new solution being incongruous with the Key image. I'm happy it's moved back to its original position.Carpediem (talk) 21:18, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

Templates for Mobile-View
Hello Margotbean,
I mostly use the wiki on my phone - have you ever thought about creating/ adjusting templates for mobile view?
MediaWiki knows the markups for "mobile only" or "mobile-hidden".
When i worked on a wiki, we created a lot of templates that way. mostly were there only small adjustments eg. description in row below, instead a column on the right - to decrease the width and make tables fitting for smaller screens.
Would be nice to hear from you, about that idea. i am pretty sure, it would please a lot of users!

Eggplant Parmesan
Hey margotbean, I just want to apologise for changing the information on the eggplant parmesan page. I promise I wasn't just trying to mess with it. I was playing a save on my switch and it said that they loved it both in the villagers dialogue and in the gift log, but then I just checked it on my pc and it matched the information that's on the eggplant parmesan page now. So I'm not sure what happened with that but I'm sorry for the nuisance. Farmer Ron (talk) 13:07, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- No problem, thanks for the note! You can report the bug on the official forums margotbean (talk) 07:33, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
Clint broken glasses
I just found out that Clint loves broken glasses and it appears that the wiki dose not show this information It’s not ground breaking or anything I just thought it was interesting. Sweetcheese (talk) 14:40, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but according to the data files, Clint doesn't love broken glasses. margotbean (talk) 07:33, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
File block
Hi, you blocked me from uploading files with no reason given. I've resolved the Furniture situation and I'd like to upload more files to help with the wiki, so please unblock me.
Also, I added a section on Talk:Furniture, so pwease talk a look at that as well. Myirlname (talk) 01:17, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
Most of the edits I'm thinking of making involve uploading new files to the wiki, so I can't contribute to the wiki if I'm blocked. Myirlname (talk) 22:52, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
Edits on Strawberry
Hi, you've reverted my latest changes on Strawberry growth chart. Given this is just an addition of two columns, I'm surprised to see it reverted. I understood previous changes being reverted when I added all the growth charts as there is a desire to keep the page simple and making that sort of change across all the languages would likely be taxing, but in this case even on mobile I don't see this as a major change adding 2 columns to 5. I don't see this as a major formatting change but let me know if I'm not correct. I can't be the only person that comes to the wiki to figure out if buying Strawberries at the Desert festival is worth it to get another handful of strawberries. Luau change
Hello,
I received the notification that my edit was canceled because there was no discussion. But I would protest it -- I suggested my idea about 2 month ago on the discussion page, explained the benefit, but I got no response. I would like to know, how should I do under such situation? Also on the Luau discussion page, PrincessFelicity, who wrote in discussion page before me and received no reply too, agreed with my attempt. Now I wonder that "the discussion" actually means your permission.
I of course understand you have so many things to do, there are 12 versions of other languages and synchronizing them needs huge efforts. I also respect you maintaining this wiki. But I hope you know our enthusiasm and attempts to improve this wiki.
I would be happy you understand I never intend to blame you.
Mmtraa7 (talk) 01:34, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello MMtraa! I don't think of a discussion as obtaining permission, but if I haven't commented on the discussion, I probably don't think it's a good idea. margotbean (talk) 16:27, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you Margotbean, and I am sorry, I still could not accept your comment. I feel so pity if you are just judging everyone's opinion, instead of considering and discussing with us.
- I believe my idea surely makes Luau article much better, that is the only reason why I suggestd it.
- If you think my idea is not so good, I would like to know why you think so. I cannot interpret how you think from your silence.
- As I said in Luau discussion, too many Smoked Smoked and Smoked Fish make the article really difficult to understand or find information. (Even in JA wiki, my native language version, so many くんせい (Smoked) and ワイン (Wine) are terribly annoying and frustrating 😭)
- I repeat my intention of this message; I am eager to KNOW what idea you think as good one, and DISCUSS about it with you.
- Also, there is other user, PrincessFelicity, who thinks Luau article is so confusing as well, agree with my attempt. I would like you not to ignore him, too.
- I think communication is the best way to improve this wiki. So I hope your opinion on this matter. If my brief is wrong, please point it out.
- Mmtraa7 (talk) 21:00, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, communication is important. I spend the bulk of my time communicating with editors, and so the needed content updates get pushed further down the list. So, two of my reasons are these:
- No one has done a code run-through to ensure all items are listed and up-to-date. Format follows content; content comes first.
- No one has indicated that they understand the huge commitment it takes to change the page in twelve languages.

- Sorry, I am late to reply;
- I do understand you have so many things to do, but I haven't found a Stub tag or Under Construction tag on Luau page. That's why I think we now can (and should) think about format.
- Now, to avoid confusion, I can add such tag for you, because this issue is often put on the table in Luau talk page (means some people do think this is a matter)?
- Additionally, I am ready to work on format editing. I know I responsible for my suggestion, and I can understand Japanese, English, and Chinese (a little).
- I hope I can do something for this wiki and you.
Edit to Leprechaun Hat
Concerning the reversion to the edit I made about Spring 17 being a reference to March 17, St. Patrick's Day, and your summary mentioning it should be a note, if anything, I get your reasoning. Why not go ahead and show good editing example by making it into a note instead of merely reverting it then? I get some people have standards set to make the wiki readable and easily accessible. I'm not always the best at understanding what exactly is expected. I just wanted to add a little more info and would like that info to be there, whatever form it has to take.
- I understand your confusion. Please feel free to add a "Notes" section to the page with the information you added before. Bonus points if you link to the wikipedia page for St. Patrick's Day, for those countries/languages who don't know what it is. margotbean (talk) 23:54, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
Item infobox
This is just a little question:
What do the differences in item infobox mean?
For example, on Treasure Chest page, we can find a list in Source section. Like:
Artifact Trove (3.7%)
- SquidFest festival
Fishing Treasure Chest (0.24%)
Secret Note #16
Spook Fish (Fish Pond) (0.3%)
On the other hand, on Pearl page, Source section has a row of obtaining source. It looks:
Night Market • Golden Fishing Treasure Chests • SquidFest festival • Artifact Trove • Blobfish Fish Pond • Mystery Box • Golden Mystery Box
Both of Treasure Chest and Pearl are categorized as Special Items. So now I wonder what does the difference of the format mean🤔

Statue of endless fortune
What was wrong with my calculation for statue of endless fortune? I don't know how to wiki but i thought it would be correct. Why "NO!"?

Trying to update guidance on obtaining Mod Author role on Modding:Community marked as harmful
Hey, Margotbean! I'm a moderator on the Discord, and I noticed the guidance/channel names is slightly out of date. I had the edit marked as a minor change, and the only tweaks made were:
From:

Jas and Marnie
Why do you keep reverting my edits to the relationships panel for the Jas and Marnie pages? Marnie *is* Jas's adoptive aunt; to imply that they are actually related causes a lot confusion for players trying to figure out the actual relationship between them. Sinksforsauce11 (talk) 17:21, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- There is no reason given in the game to think that Marnie formally adopted Jas. There is also no reason to think that Marnie is not Jas' aunt by blood. ConcernedApe left the relationship vague, and so should the wiki. margotbean (talk) 17:26, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
There is no reason to think that they are related by blood; Jas's parents are specifically stated to have been "good friends" with Shane, *not* in any way related to him -- if they were related, ConcernedApe would have said so, instead of calling them friends. Marnie never refers to Jas as her niece in any of her dialogue lines; it is a big jump logically to assume that they are blood related. The wiki is not staying "vague" when the information it states is never provided in the game -- it is simply reflecting YOUR views on what the relationship must be, when those are not actually based in reality. Mineral Soundalikes
Recently you removed a piece of trivia I put on the alamite page. Just want to let you know that there is also one similar to that one on the bixite page, just in case you want to remove that one too. RawKnowlege1234 (talk) 18:30, 1 Mar 2025 (UTC)
Also, after reading the Leprechaun Hat talk section, maybe the unsupported trivia could go under the notes section? I think it is definitely worth noting on the page. RawKnowlege1234 (talk) 07:41, 2 Mar 2025 (UTC)
Hello? Is a notes section an appropriate place to put that information? I just want to find the right way to put that information on the page without it violating any rules I didn't know about. RawKnowlege1248 (talk) 15:35, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, as it says in the Edit to Leprechaun Hat section above, please feel free to add the trivia in a "Notes" section on the page. margotbean (talk) 15:58, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- Alright, thank you! RawKnowlege1248 (talk) 20:38, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Just wondering how you would recommend added data related to the change it book experience as it relates to Mastery points. You advised that it shouldn't do in the Experience section but in the Book section it feels weird to add when Mastery is still a bit of a spoiler?
Thanks! Eveliany (talk) 21:58, 17 March 2025 (UTC) Evelainy 3/17/2025 2:58pm MST
- That info would belong on the Books page, with a link to Mastery, wherever it's used. Be careful not to use "exp" and "mastery" interchangeably! The convention is to use "XP" for skill points, not "exp". margotbean (talk) 05:56, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- So the data is removed again... I have validated this multiple times that only 90/125 respectively mastery points are received when reading those books, think I should open a ticket instead?
- I believe I know what's happening. The game should be awarding 20 XP to each skill, or 100 Mastery points. However, Farming points are awarded at a 50% rate, so only 10 points for Farming. Four skills give 20 points, Farming gives 10 points, 90 total.
- This should be the case for all power books (other than animal & price catalog). If you want to open a bug report, that would be fine. In the meantime, though, the information can be applied to the Books page for all books that say "20 XP in each skill" on subsequent readings.
- I have restored the edit to the skill books section. Thanks! margotbean (talk) 11:49, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
Smoked Fish
Hi Margotbean,
Referring to the content I added to the Smoked Fish section, apologies if it read as a min-max edit, I thought maybe including information about the benefit of the artisan profession for people looking for what fish would be best to smoke, I'm happy to make a table with no reference to maximization. This table would include all fish and crab pot items that can be smoked and their base price, with fisher, with angler as well as the artisan price buff. I know it took me a while to understand which fish could be best used only as a reference and when I thought about adding this edit, I actually referenced the fish page where there is an addition exactly the same idea 'When to turn fish into Sashimi'. this is all I'm aiming to do. So, I ask that I revise my edit and make it read as it is intended (as a reference not a strategy), create the table, submit this edit for review and take any feedback as given. Wigginsfae09 (talk) 13:39, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
Geode profits
Hi Margotbean,
It seems like you removed the profits of geodes earlier this month? Yes, geodes are not primarily meant for profit, and more for completing the museum. However, after the museum is completed, knowing whether or not it's more profitable to sell or to crack the geodes is a genuinely useful resource. I know I referenced it somewhat frequently (and I'm not alone - in fact, the reason I noticed they were gone was because somebody asked what the expected values were, and I went to check the wiki!)
I didn't want to just undo the edit, because it's clear you did it intentionally. However, I would love it for you to reconsider - it's useful, and I would really appreciate it if you could put it back. It was already in the trivia section; I don't see the harm in having it there. Comeback after a Year
Hello Margot, you probably will not remember me, I am 9000. I have been gone for almost a year now because you banned me for 6 months on the 20th of April in 2024, you advised me to return to the Wiki after I have played around with the 1.6 update. Well, I have got some sad news for you, I have retired from SDV. The reason why is because my XBox Console is now over 8 years old and might die very soon. It is very sad I know. I have not played any of the 1.6 update since it launched to XBox players about 5 months ago at all. Another thing if I remember correctly, I have made a discussion over a year ago now that Festival mail should be in Wikitext and not an uploaded file, as I was reading through the Wiki, it is still not been done yet, I am reminding you to do such thing right now. Another thing that I did not like from you back in the days of me editing this Wiki is you reverted a LOT of edits by me. You think it is not improving the Wiki at all, whereas I think it is. When somebody else makes a minor improvement to a page, you do not mind them doing it, you mind me doing it and revert any good edits I make. Also, I have seen a lot of your edit summaries with all of the words in all caps, that is something that should not be done because it sounds like you are yelling at another user for them doing a bad edit and they probably feel embarrassed because of it. Can you please stop doing that and be nicer to other users? Thank you so much. Another thing I remember not doing well was me making discussions, I used to write down my own timestamp for our time zone we are in and not signing with ~~~~ and I used to change the text on old discussions, you told me to stop doing that, which I have, I did not know that was a rule until you told me. So those are some of the things I remember when we used to edit this Wiki back then. Anyways, how's the editing going for you over the past Year, Margot? 9000 (talk • contributions) 12:23, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
Heart Events using the Bus Stop
Sorry for making two discussions to you, but here I go. According to the Wiki as of right now, Sam's 8 Heart Event does not need the bus that runs to the Desert to be repaired to trigger the cutscene. Is this the same for Shane's 10 Heart Event, in which you need the repaired bus in order to trigger the event for Shane? Because I know that for the event with Sam, you do not need a repaired bus as I have got him to Eight Hearts before I repaired the bus when we used to play in the past, Sam's cutscene still triggers no matter what. The Wiki currently does not say anything about the bus needing to be repaired for Shane's event to trigger, can we check in the game code for this? I do not think 1.6 changed any of this as the Wiki still remains the same about these two different things. 9000 (talk • contributions) 12:54, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
Preserves Jar Productivity
Hi Margotbean. I was working on adding some items to Preserves Jar Productivity when I noticed that the arithmetic on the existing items was inconsistent -- g/minute productivity was sometimes rounded down and sometimes rounded up and sometimes to different numbers of decimal places, and g/day productivity was sometimes using the rounded g/minute and sometimes using the exact g/minute. So in revision 186181 I recalculated, always rounding g/minute to the nearest 3 decimal places, and always using the exact unrounded g/minute (times 1600) to calculate g/day. You undid revision 186181. Similarly in Preserves Jar Productivity - Tiller and Preserves Jar Productivity - Artisan. I hope you will review this and reinstate the change as I think the consistency is valuable. Schneck (talk) 19:54, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hello! I agree that consistency is important! The numbers are based on an OpenOffice spreadsheet that rounds (or doesn't) presumably consistently... If you want to change the numbers anyway, that would be fine, but please change them in all 12 languages (or, all languages that have the page)! Thanks! margotbean (talk) 20:50, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks! I can do that, but maybe I should hear more about the OpenOffice spreadsheet. I've been adding individual items directly to the wiki pages; could I instead add them to the spreadsheet and then generate the pages from the spreadsheet? If so how would I go about doing that? Or is adding individual items directly to the wiki pages the correct procedure? Schneck (talk) 21:05, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- Since the spreadsheet lives somewhere on my hard drive, adding individual items directly is the way to go. margotbean (talk) 23:24, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

Pot of Gold
Could you add a redirect from Pot of Gold to Leprechaun Hat? I can't because I am still a new user. RawKnowlege1248 (talk) 00:08, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello? RawKnowlege1248 (talk) 20:27, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- I try to avoid unnecessary redirects because they confuse translators and people invariably link to the redirect page instead of the actual page. margotbean (talk) 21:48, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Got it. Thanks for replying! RawKnowlege1248 (talk) 11:23, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
A Request
Hi Margotbean, I was blocked on the Portuguese Stardew Valley Wiki because I made too many edits to my user page. I'm sorry — I didn’t know it was against the rules. I’m just a new user and I wanted to help. Could you please review my ban? I’d like a second chance. Thank you!

Hi Margotbean!
Thank you so much for giving me another chance. I really appreciate being able to edit again. I’ll be more careful from now on and make smaller edits to help the wiki. I’m happy to be part of this community and I’ll do my best to contribute the right way.
Thanks again! Kakazinho (talk) 14:55, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
Crane Game
Hello, just curious about why the image for the crane game needs to be so small. RawKnowlege1248 (talk) 11:24, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello? RawKnowlege1248 (talk) 20:27, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
To my understanding, the image is supposed to be a visual to help people know how the game works, and it is hard for people to see and understand it without going to the file page if the image is so miniature. I may be missing something, but I think it would be easier for people to understand how the crane game works if they can actually see it. RawKnowlege1248 (talk) 18:44, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
Edit on Bait
It isn't in my opinion, especially for new players who may only have tried the mobile version. It was confusing for me, especially in the beginning, and the way the section is worded on the wiki may be taken as bait being totally irremovable until exhausted, so some players may be discouraged from even trying to attach another type of bait. Mnz930 (talk) 14:17, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- OK, you made a good point, I've restored the edit. Thanks! margotbean (talk) 15:03, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

About entry Golden Coconut
Hi Admin! I noticed that you changed Probability template before. Most Geode entries are fine, but Golden Coconut lose the probability of produce items,and they dont even have words to describe the probability. Are these unuseful info or just a mistake? If it`s a mistake, can I add them back?骑凤散人 (talk) 01:55, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
- It's not a mistake! Also, thank you for fixing the translations on the geodes' pages. margotbean (talk) 14:22, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
RE: Abandoned House prices
Hey, I saw your message on my talk page. Before I make the changes to all languages, I was thinking of changing the hats page itself, to split the "how to obtain" column into a "how to unlock" and "price" column. That way, it shows the prices of the hats on the hats page, as well as carrying over nicely to the abandoned house page. Johny (talk) 17:00, 2 June 2025
- First other languages, then hats page! Also remember to put new text at the bottom of the page, and sign your posts with 4 tildes. Thank you! margotbean (talk) 21:37, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
- After doing the hats page, I can undo the changes in the abandoned house page, so it doesn't make sense to do it in all languages and then undo all of it. I also don't really get why a change has to be updated in all languages immediately, it makes it a daunting task to make any kind of change, especially ones where you'll have to change text since then you have to know 12 languages. I think that's keeping the wiki from being improved since not many people would be willing to do that. Johny (talk) 8:36, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, I see the transclusion issue. It makes sense to update Hats first, and then let the transclusion carry over. Please proceed! Thank you, margotbean (talk) 13:47, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

CraftingRecipes template
I saw the previous discussion about why this wasn't updated for 1.6, which makes sense (I'd forgotten about the links). How would you feel about just adding screenshots (no links) to the Crafting page? JohnPeters (talk) 00:28, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

RE: Marnie family connection
I made the edit from "niece" to "nephew's goddaughter" for the sake of accuracy of the wiki. Shane's goddaughter is not factually Marnie's niece. Jas would only be her niece if she were Marnie's brother or sister's daughter. Her nephew's goddaughter is a child of someone else, his goddaughter because of a profound relationship with Jas' parents when they died, not a blood relationship. Canon states that Jas is Shane's goddaughter, Jas states that Shane is her godfather and that her parents died, Marnie only states that her nephew (Shane) lives with her. I see it is also stated on Marnie's page that "Marnie lives with her niece..." so I guess it is erroneous information in several areas of this wiki. I noticed you reverted my edit, may I ask why this can't be made into correct information?Carpediem (talk) 17:25, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- You're making way too many assumptions, none of which are based on in-game data. margotbean (talk) 17:42, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
Bee House Edit
Since I am new at this, I would appreciate it if you would not be so condescending in your revisions a.k.a. "Formatting is bad, "chair trick" is undefined, no no no". How do you honestly expect to have a community if new users cannot make any revisions without immediately having them being taken down, instead of being edited constructively? The formatting and structure I used was taken from the Cask page, which has been sufficiently up for years, including passing multiple edits by you yourself. As I am now unable to upload images, which I am assuming is your doing, I cannot even go back and properly define the "chair trick". So I guess I will no longer make edits to the wiki to provide information which players like myself would have found extremely helpful years ago. Dexashman (talk) 07:20, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

why did you reverted generic flower textures and notes?
recently I made a change to fairy rose, blue jazz, poppy and tulips. These flowers have multiple colors and 1 extra generic color that is only available via traveling cart. why did you reverted it? thats just rude to me. --Unsigned post by Feycional 08:50, June 20 2025
- The reason for the edit reversions is in the comment to the first flower page you edited. It's not rude, it's my job to remove info that's already on pages. Please remember to sign your posts with 4 tildes, thank you, margotbean (talk) 16:40, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
I couldnt find anywhere this information is already on the pages and I dont think it is mentioned anywhere please send a link if there is any I dont know.--Feycional (talk) 17:54, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
Wizard catalogue german translation issue
Hello :)
Maybe you can help me with this. I'm currently working on translating the German page of the Wizard Catalogue and ran into a bit of an issue.
I realized that two different objects in the game are named exactly the same in German and now I’m not sure how to handle this on the wiki. I assume two wiki pages can’t have the same name.
These are the translations I took directly from the game files:
"SmallBookStack": "Kleiner Bücherstapel",
"BookStack": "Bücherstapel",
"LargeBookStack": "Großer Bücherstapel",
"SmallBookPile": "Kleiner Bücherstapel",
"BookPile": "Bücherstapel",
"LargeBookPile": "Großer Bücherstapel"
As you can see, both stack and pile are translated as Bücherstapel, which makes it hard to differentiate them when creating separate pages.
Technically, using Stapel for both isn’t wrong, but pile could also be translated as Haufen to better distinguish it. The downside is that this wouldn’t match the official in-game translation.
I’ve already posted about this in the translation forum, but in the meantime I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how best to deal with it for the wiki.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate your help! Anilein 11:22, June 20 2025
- Hello! Thank you for translating! I think in this case you should create the pages using "Haufen", and place a note on the page(s) explaining that two items share the same name in-game. You should also put at the top of the pages "See also: Name of other page" so users can travel back and forth between the two pages easily.
- We did something similar in Portuguese with Placa de Pedra and Placa de pedra... although it is not a good solution using lower-case, it is an example of the format I'm suggesting!
- Thanks again, and let me know if you have any other questions or issues! margotbean (talk) 16:40, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate the detailed response. I did my best to follow your suggestion as you described it. Thanks again for taking the time to help! Anilein (talk) 18:22, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

- Anyway, thank you for the message! I think we'll leave the dialogue on Leo's page for now, and hopefully it will be fixed with v1.6.16! margotbean (talk) 17:58, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
Category:Animal Products name change
Hi admin! Could you change 分类:动物制品 to 分类:动物产品? 制品 means things made by people, 产品 here means things produced by animals. Therefore, 产品 is more accurate.骑凤散人 (talk) 14:32, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
Update: I find that the category in game also named 动物制品。I will go to the forum to post a report about this text error.骑凤散人 (talk) 17:51, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

- Thanks! I need to see if the category name has changed in the upcoming version 1.6.16. If it has changed, I'll let you know.
- BTW, could you remove that real-person verification? It's severely affecting my editing and reading. Also, since it's currently the Steam Summer Sale period, there will be a surge of Chinese users, and this will significantly impact their experience. Please reconsider!骑凤散人 (talk) 08:22, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Irrigation map for Rice Shoot on Meadowlands farm
Hi there! I saw that Meadowlands farm was missing from the irrigation maps on the rice shoot (and consequently taro tuber) page.
I have spent some time on a farm and I have made one! It's not as clean as the other farm images - I have some silos, furnaces and chests visible on my farm, but they are all well away from the rice fields. They should not be a distraction to anyone who is looking to use the image to check for irrigation areas on the Meadowlands Farm. At the very least, it can be a placeholder image before a clean empty version is created.
I would love to upload the image, but I believe my account is too new. The "Help Editing" page only discusses updating an existing image, not uploading a new one.
Thank you. PenelopePepperPants (talk) 03:40, 4 July 2025 (UTC)

RecipeRow template -- passing in data-sort value?
Hi, I was on the Luck page and tried to sort by buffs and I noticed that because of how the Template:RecipeRow template works by using the edibility value as its data-sort value, when sorting within the Buff table, the ascending/descending order doesn't follow a sequence I would expect (i.e. ordering by increasing/decreasing luck), do you think it'd make sense to be able to pass in some sort of optional override for sorting by something other than edibility, so that sort would be specific to whatever page is rendering those table rows? (I've made a similar change for ordering the rows within a table by a specific value in a specific page's context before, i.e. here on the Weight page, as an example of what I'm trying to go for with the food within the Luck table) --Hexadecimal (talk) 19:25, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- The wiki is planning to update its mediawiki version, and read data directly from JSON files, which would make the template obsolete. Given that, I'm not willing to make template changes in 12 languages at this time. margotbean (talk) 19:43, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
Emote Menu
Sorry, I meant 1.6.15 (the current released version). I double checked it and there are only these emotes available by pressing Y: image--Quicksilver (talk) 17:58, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- What you typed is not true for any version. You do not need to type anything into a chat window to unlock it, you can access the entire menu of emotes by right-clicking on the emote menu. margotbean (talk) 18:03, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- I didn't know about that sub-menu, access to it should be indicated somehow in the wiki to avoid confusing. By default there are only those 8 emotes (especially in Controls#Emotes, because it only says Y).--Quicksilver (talk) 18:10, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- You also reverted all my edits regarding the fact, that the command must be entered in English. I tried to type it in Russian and it shows me this: image. The command names should be indicated both in english and in appropriate languages.--Quicksilver (talk) 18:14, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- Large edits made when the editor is unfamiliar with game mechanics creates a lot of cleanup work for others.
- When English text is added to a page in another language, the "translate" template for that language should be added to the page as well. margotbean (talk) 18:29, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- Game encyclopedia which tells confusing information creates it. It says you can activate it by pressing Y, it not says you should also make a right click. May I at least resort them, so the hidden items would be at the end of the table?--Quicksilver (talk) 18:39, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- No. margotbean (talk) 19:15, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- And what's the point in that? They sorted like this or like this in-game, why keep this hidden emotes randomly inserted and messed with the others in wiki, instead of specifying them at the end?--Quicksilver (talk) 19:25, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- No. margotbean (talk) 19:15, 7 July 2025 (UTC)

Feedback
Hi, I'm open to feedback on my submission to the wiki page that you reversed. I'd appreciate feedback rather than just deleting it without explanation. :)Teageen (talk) 01:50, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
- Here are the top three reasons the edit was reverted:
- The wiki doesn't include lengthy paragraphs written to dispel myths that are circulating in an undisclosed location nine years after the game's release.
- The language of the wiki uses third person, in an encyclopediac tone rather than second person advice-giving.
- The paragraph includes the probability of landing on green without any supporting calculations.
- There are more, but those are enough to revert the edit. Hope this helps. margotbean (talk) 05:33, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
Ok! I will revise it then and try againTeageen (talk) 08:38, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for your response. I apologize for posting it back after you removed it; I didn't realize you were an admin since your username didn't have any tags or badges or anything to indicate that in the History page, so I thought it was just any other random person doing it. I am happy to add sources, and I already have them ready, but I didn't add them yet because I don't understand how to format them and I didn't want to mess up the sources that are already in there. I spent at least 30 minutes looking for information on how to do that, but I seem to not know the terminology to use to get applicable results. Is there a guide somewhere that explains that? I didn't see one in the Help Editing page or the site linked to in the editing images section of that page. Also, your response in your first bullet point and your emphasis on "there are more" at the end seems a little bit unnecessarily mean. I understand that it's probably annoying to moderate a wiki, in the same way that it's annoying to interact with the public in any user/customer service position, and I appreciate your work. That said, I was making an effort to add information that I had difficulty finding myself when looking into this, because I thought it would be helpful to other people, and I'd like to fix my contribution to meet the standards needed to post it. If there had been a notice when I went to edit the page telling me to read the Help Editing page before contributing, or to contact a mod for permission first, I would have done so. But I read everything on that screen and it didn't say anything like that so I figured it would be ok, and if I needed to change it, someone would tell me what to fix about it or just fix it themselves. I have now read the Help Editing page, so I understand that this is not any other wiki or Wikipedia, and so the rules don't be the same, but based on my experience with Wikipedia pages, it is fairly normal to have things posted that don't necessarily have sources linked immediately, or to have phrasing changed by someone else later, so I didn't think it would be a big deal to add them later. I now understand this wiki has higher standards, and I am happy to adjust my contribution accordingly. I'd like to have friendly collaboration, so I apologise that our initial contact must have been frustrating for you. Teageen (talk) 09:37, 16 July 2025 (UTC)

New Skills Tab Icon
I tried to upload a new version of File:Skills Tab Icon.png without an extra white pixel on the top left of the icon (see version here), and MediaWiki simply duplicated the older version while displaying the size of the new version (453b). I don't know if it's a cache problem. I tried to purge the page, but nothing changed, at least on my side. Sapador (talk) 16:19, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Crafting Ingredients (again)
While working on my crafting ingredients list, I wanted to check my math by comparing my numbers to your list at User:Margotbean/IngredientsShortList. The crafting list on that page appears to be for v1.5 (it includes Dwarf Gadget) but has not been updated for v1.6, missing Bait, Cave Jelly, River Jelly, Sea Jelly, and other ingredients new in v1.6. It would be helpful to either update your list or mark it as v1.5. I am willing to update the page to mark the list as v1.5, but I didn't want to do it without your go-ahead, since it's a user page. Gmlobdell (talk) 17:42, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
- Users cannot edit other people's user pages. That page wasn't meant to be a reference for the wiki, merely a proof of concept idea. It is indeed outdated, and I have no plans to update it, I'm sorry! margotbean (talk) 22:20, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
Tips on the Quests page
Hello Morgotbean!
Why did you remove my tips section on the Quests page?
Greetings Ffets (talk) 19:30, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- The tips were opinions, not facts, poorly written as advice-giving, and in some cases impossible to follow (e.g., "Be sure to grow a giant Qi Fruit"). So, not actually helpful. See Help:Editing for more guidance. margotbean (talk) 19:33, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
Ok, I understand. It's quite frustrating, if your edits get reverted as soon as you join a new wiki. I try to find a better and more factual way to put it.

The spawn rate of Rare Objects in The Mines seems incorrect
Hello, admin! I’ve been looking into the spawn rates of objects in The Mines recently, and I think the documented rate for Rare Objects on the English wiki may be incorrect. Please take a look at the relevant code below:
if (r.NextDouble() < 0.2)
{
// raccoon seeds: 2%
if (r.NextDouble() < 0.1)
...
return; // 20% chance return directly !!!!
}
// qi beans:5% * 0.8 = 4%
if (r.NextDouble() <= 0.05 && Game1.player.team.SpecialOrderRuleActive("DROP_QI_BEANS"))
...
// mystery boxes:0.81% * 0.66 * 0.8 = 0.42678%
if (Utility.tryRollMysteryBox(0.0081 + Game1.player.team.AverageDailyLuck() / 15.0, r))
...
// rare objects
Utility.trySpawnRareObject(who, new Vector2(x, y) * 64f, location, 1.5, 1.0, -1, r);
Note that if the first if branch is entered, there is a 20% probability of returning immediately. Therefore, all subsequent probabilities should be multiplied by 0.8, but the statistics of rare objects and mystery boxes at present forgot to do that.

- It appears you are correct, the previous editors missed the "return" after raccoon seeds. Either that, or "return" wasn't in earlier verions of 1.6, I don't know, but please feel free to make corrections to the relevant page(s)! Thank you! margotbean (talk) 06:15, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
The meaning of life
Wow! I was exhausted when I made that edit. 42 may be the meaning of life, but the older I get, the more sleep seems to be a life elixir! :) Giles (talk) 23:22, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

Non-Square Icons in Name Lists
When creating a list of Stardew Valley items, the wiki uses the ... template. The problem with this is that while most of the item icons are square, 48 x 48 pixels, some icons are taller, 48 x 96 pixels, for example. These taller icons create visually incongruent lists. I am proposing a change to make it easier for wiki writers to create visually consistent lists. If there is a more appropriate page to discuss these changes, please tell me where and I'll move this discussion there.
The Furnace icon is one of these 48 x 96 pixel icons. Regular square icons are 24 x 24 here. Column 1 shows the result of Furnace, the Furnace icon at its default size in the Name template is 24 x 48 pixels, creating a taller line than the other items. Column 2 shows , now the icon height and line spacing are correct, but the words do not align with the lines above and below. Column 3 shows two potential solutions, the first using CSS padding, and the second using a blank image for padding.

Iron Bar (2)
Gold Bar (3)

CSS Padding
I think this is the best solution. To best implement the CSS padding solution, additional content would be required in Template:Name/styles.css and a new named parameter to Template:Name with code to handle the parameter. I would propose that the parameter name be "iconpad" or something similar. The content below would be added to the styles.css file. Three padding styles are needed to accommodate the three icon sizes seen so far. It might be possible to use one padding style and a CSS variable passed in from HTML.
/* add padding to the icon, used for tall (48x96) icons */
.iconpadding6 {
padding:6px;
}
/* add padding to the icon, used for tall (48x75) icons, most Braziers */
.iconpadding4 {
padding:4px;
}
/* add padding to the icon, used for tall (48x63) icons, Garden Pot */
.iconpadding3 {
padding:3px;
}
If changes to the Template:Name were deemed too risky, a second template could be created, NamePadded, which could implement the needed logic for the padding.
Blank Image Padding
The Blank Image Padding solution requires a new image file, that can then be resized to create the padding space. In the example, the Blank_icon.png file is used, but it's not truly blank. Similar to the CSS padding solution, to streamline usage, a new named parameter to Template:Name would be needed, with code in the template to implement the padding. This solution would not require CSS changes.
Other Discarded Ideas
Padding could also be accomplished by building the padding directly into the image used, creating second square icons for the icons that are not square. This would become a maintenance issue if the items changed their appearance in the game implementation, and the wiki images had to be updated.

- The icons are fine as is; they reflect the size they are in-game. In the future, discussions about Template:Name can be placed on the talk page for the template. Also note that "mediawiki" is not a valid syntax language for syntaxhighlight, so I've removed the syntax hightlighting errors from the page. Thanks, margotbean (talk) 22:02, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
Ban Appeal from Islabean13
Hello, I’m Islabean13. I was recently blocked by Margotbean for “Excessive counterproductive edits” after I created a “Resources” page. I had seen another user request it and didn’t mean to cause trouble. I’d like to understand what I did wrong and whether my block could be reconsidered. Thank you for your time.
- Hello! That account was blocked six months ago, in March, so not quite "recently". Please read Help:Editing to better understand the rules/guidelines for editing the wiki. Read it, digest it, ponder it. And please remember to sign your posts with 4 tildes, as it says at the top of the page. Thank you, margotbean (talk) 18:47, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi margotbean,
Thank you for the clarification and for pointing me to the editing guidelines. I appreciate you taking the time to explain. I’ve read through the Help:Editing page and I understand the expectations better now, including how to properly sign posts. I’ll make sure to follow those rules moving forward. Question about appeals
Hello, I was not banned from the wiki (and I hope I never will be) but if I am, how would I make a ban appeal if the account is prevented from making any edits? I just wanted to know, because it seems impossible to appeal otherwise. GrapeJelly2014 (talk) 23:53, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
- Well, let's hope it doesn't come to it, but you can email the other admin at the email address listed at the bottom of this page: https://www.stardewvalley.net/contact/ margotbean (talk) 16:41, 8 October 2025 (UTC)

Animals Page
Hi, I am wondering why the profitability section from the Animals page is repeatedly getting deleted. Also, the page got "protected" and now says "Admins only" - I am very sorry if anything is wrong with it, but rather than deleting it immediately, I would appreciate feedback if possible. Thank you and have a great day/night/weekend! Iamatoaster (talk) 00:34, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
Hello Margot! I am wondering why the profitability section from the Animals page is repeatedly getting deleted. I would appreciate feedback if possible because I believe that it is better to give feedback so that users can improve. Thank you for your time! Iamatoaster (talk) 15:59, 27 November 2025 (UTC)

Missing info for Pierre's page
(Skippy123asd (talk) 05:33, 23 November 2025 (UTC)) Have a look at Pierre's page.
Wednesday does not use his regular schedule because he is out of shop. It doesn't display Pierre's schedule on Wednesdays. It just says, not in shop. Why is this topic being unassigned?

Missing info on specific house plants
(Skippy123asd (talk) 05:33, 23 November 2025 (UTC))
In the furniture page > https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Furniture Where it says: Fancy House Plants Each of the Fancy House Plants and the first three House Plants can all be obtained from the Prize Machine inside the Mayor's Manor, while the last two House Plants can be obtained from the Crane Machine inside the Movie Theater.
It doesn't specify where to source the middle 3 house plants.

Missing Lucky Purple Shorts page
Hello, so I created a page for Lewis's Lucky Purple Shorts ( Lucky_Purple_Shorts ) that included every secret and the ways to get it, however you blocked the page and changed it to redirect to Secrets#Lucky_Purple_Shorts, even though my page contains everything from the page that it redirects and more (the mission, the staircase at lewis's house etc). Could you please reverse that? the item having a specific page with everything summed up makes it a lot easier for the user than to get information from 2 different subpages.
