Child Beds
Haven't found this on the wiki. Anybody know what happens if you remove the child beds and never replace them? Does the toddler continue to sleep in the crib forever? I can test this out, but if someone knows, it would save the time. Bigfarma (talk) 20:35, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
- The toddlers freeze in place when it gets dark if the beds are removed. You can still interact with them and get a heart bubble, but otherwise, they stay in place. margotbean (talk) 20:55, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
Farmhouse upgrade
I have been waiting almost 2 years now for my wife to ask for adoption and while I was reading the page it says extra room is it talking about the cellar? I don't think it is but she just won't ask! Aepace000 (talk) 00:08, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
- It's random, so there's no way to say when it will happen. A cellar isn't required. margotbean (talk) 05:58, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
- Considering that there is a 95% chance of it not happening, the probability of it not happening for 224 days (2 years) is =0.95224, which is around 0.001%. So, you have been extremely unlucky, or you are not fulfilling some condition. About the extra room, it is the empty one besides the child room. You can check it in Farmhouse, the Upgrade number 2. --User8841 (talk) 00:52, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
Help
I have been trying to get children in my game but have had no luck. I am wondering if I have to sleep while my spouse is in bed with me for them to ask for a child or if I have just been unlucky. Eggman17 (talk) 00:24, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
The chance of this happening is only 1/20 and you have to be very lucky that one night your spouse will apply and you will approve. Alyasinsalehi7 (talk) 13:51, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
Statue Blessing Effect
Does the Blessing of Friendship (From the Statue of Blessing) affect the friendship gained upon interacting with a child? TehEpicDan (talk) 16:25, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Some observations about children sleeping behavior
I have done some tests on children sleeping behaviors and here's what I found.
- The wiki says that children of all ages sleep at exactly 7pm. While toddlers do run into their bed and tuck themselves in at 7pm, babies appear to sleep one hour earlier at 6pm instead. Stage 2 children (throwables) stops being interactable at 6pm (you can't even click on the crib), and Stage 3 children (crawlers, or as i like to call them "green worms") will teleport into the crib if you enter your house after 6pm as opposed to 7pm.
- As long as there's a valid empty path between a toddler and their Child Bed, they will run towards it no matter how far. You can't actually move the child bed once your child locks their path and runs to it, the game will register the child bed as being "used" even before the child sleeps on it.
Idk how to cross check these with the game's code, feel free to do so, these are just what I found by playing the game.
Also, should we have a separate page for the crib? I feel like we could have a page detailing when you can/cannot interact with it or destroy it. Anzasquiddles (talk) 18:01, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
- Addendum: another observation about children sleeping behavior.
- If you're in your house, Stage 4 (toddlers) will run to their beds once the time hits exactly 7pm (unless there are no valid paths to the bed or there is no bed, in which case they'll stand still where they are). However, this isn't the case for Stage 2 (throwables) and Stage 3 (crawlers); they do not immediately switch to sleep mode or teleport to the crib after 6pm (again, not 7pm) unless you leave the house and come back. The one exception to this is if you throw a Stage 2 right as the time hits 6pm, then the game will immediately switch the baby sprite to use the sleeping one.
- I'm gonna test some more children pathfinding later. Anzasquiddles (talk) 19:41, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
- In Child::MovePosition we can find the check for time of day > 1800 (6pm) for crawling babies. Nice catch!
- Children who can walk may (or may not) go to bed at 7pm every day, or it might be later in summer than winter. Your edits are fine, if anyone wants to step through the code more thoroughly, they are welcome to do so. margotbean (talk) 19:45, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
- From my tests, toddlers always try to go to bed and sleep at 7pm on the dot, no matter the season.
- Also super late but here's some more observations on toddler pathing behavior which I found through
torturingexperimentinghaving a bit of a goof with my own children in-game.- Pathing behavior seems to be updated at the tick of every hour. At the start of each hour, toddlers will either walk to another room of the house that isn't blocked; or they'll run around in circles sporadically (updated at random times for the duration of the hour), or they'll sit down or do calisthenics or whatever.
- It seems that there needs to be at least two different connected rooms for toddler pathing to update correctly. If your children is in a room and you block all of its entrances, they seem to not want to move at all (not even running inside the room even with ample empty space). The logic for what counts as a different rooms seems to use the same logic for changing flooring.
- Firing slingshots at your toddlers seems to also mess with their pathing behavior? As in if you do that they may freeze for a good few hours. Who knew firing explosives and rocks at your children will cause them to misbehave?
- You can block your toddler's running path with furnitures or even yourself; they can't pass through you like other NPCs. If you block their path for long enough and then let them go, their running speed will slow down (until the next hour ticks, at which point they'll select another movement behavior like running somewhere else or sitting).
- The only exception is during festivals; toddlers can pass through you if they show up during festivals. I learned this from spending way too much time taking family photos during Spirit's Eve and SDV Fair.
- Toddlers will run to their bed at 7pm as long as there's a valid path. However, if you block your child from reaching their bed by 7pm (long enough that they slow down, see above) and then let go, your child will continue walking and miss the bed entirely, ignoring the sleep check. At which point they'll just stand still where they end up at for the rest of the night.
- Also super late but here's some more observations on toddler pathing behavior which I found through
- Anything with "seems" are things i'm uncertain of without checking the game's codes (which i unfortunately don't know how), everything else written using definite language are things i can confirm to be 100% true (though i suppose we need to check them with the codes anyway). Anyone is welcome to cross check my findings. Anzasquiddles (talk) 13:35, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
Stage two child
“When interacting with the child, the player will toss them into the air, which raises the relationship level”
Does this raise their relationship level every time they get tossed them in the air, or only once per day? When I toss them in the air multiple times in a row the heart bubble shows every time. But when they’re in the toddler stage, the heart bubble will only show the first time they’re interacted with that day. So is it possible to go all the way to max friendship in a single day just by repeatedly tossing them?

Children and sleeping
just discovered this myself — apparently it’s a game wide problem to have your children in a coop save not sleep? it’s actually an issue with the games code! accessing the games save files will lead you to the children’s coding and, more often than not, the lack of sleep is because they’re coded as your coop partners child! you can fix it by changing their parent id to yours :) Mel4nch0ly (talk) 13:51, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
