Gifting
I think I may have found an inconsistency in how Eggs are discussed throughout the wiki and I wanted to raise it here to see how I should proceed when I see it.
On character pages, when Eggs are listed as a category in the Gifting section, there's a footnote attached which says "*Note that Dinosaur Eggs are considered Artifacts and not Eggs for gifting purposes." However, I believe that there are other "Eggs" that are not eggs for gifting purposes. For example, I believe the Parrot Egg is one of these. I came to this conclusion by looking at some of the character preferences for the Parrot Egg, e.g. Caroline is Neutral on Eggs as a category, but when you look at the Parrot Eggs page, it says she dislikes Parrot Eggs.
I updated the note about Eggs to include Parrot Eggs on Alex's page, but then realized that was only creating a further inconsistency.
Here are a couple of options that I can see for resolving this:
- Create an Eggs (Category) page that explains which Eggs are Eggs for gifting purposes. Then all of the footnotes on character pages could link to that.
- List each type of Egg explicitly on each character page and remove anything that says "All Eggs"
- Change all of the existing notes to include Parrot Eggs (if Parrot Eggs and Dinosaur Eggs really are the only eggs that aren't true eggs)
In the meantime, I'm wondering whether I should revert the change I made to Alex's page. For reference, here's what I changed it to say: "Note that the following are not considered Eggs for gifting purposes: Dinosaur Eggs are considered Artifacts, Parrot Eggs are considered Trinkets."
