Green rain standalone page?

Should we make Green Rain a separate page? This section has had a lot of info now, and I can see much info to be added. Such as NPCs routine, weeds (and their spawn rule), and many images related. --Ethan (talk) 02:47, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

Images? NO screenshots, please. Otherwise, yes, a standalone page seems like a good idea. margotbean (talk) 19:05, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

More information is needed on Green Rain Trees reverting to their original form after the rain is over. The section said that all trees reverted back, but I have 5 trees on my farm, 2 in the forest, and 1 on the mountain that stayed Green Rain Trees after the event. I edited the section to reflect this but I feel like it's very vague still. --Agf (talk) 15:53, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

These seem to have all reverted back at the end of the year. Feel like we're really missing some info here still. Agf (talk) 00:43, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Can someone replicate this? Robin was still working on a building I had her working on in year 1, instead of hiding in the basement. I want to make sure it wasn't a glitch before editing the page. Assassin's Den (talk) 16:36, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

Green rain and entering buildings

On the wiki page right now, it says "Buildings accessible by the player can be entered at any time of day, regardless of their usual hours, and some bedrooms will be accessible without heart requirements."

I'm currently playing my first time with Green Rain during Year 1, and I'm not able to enter Marnie's Ranch due to it being outside their usual hours. Also no one's bedrooms I checked allowed me in, but I didn't exactly take notes on what I checked and what I didn't. Has this perhaps been something changed by patches, or was the information just not wholly accurate? --Yordbaer (talk) 19:07, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi! I just checked this out. Almost everyone's bedrooms will be locked under two hearts as usual except for Maru (whose room can be accessed from the outside) and Sebastian. Leah and Elliot's cabins will both be inaccessible under two hearts, and Marnie's ranch will only be open if it's regular hours. All buildings in the actual town will be unlocked at all hours otherwise, but bedrooms will not. I don't think I missed any bedrooms, but I already had two with Jodi and Robin and I was able to get into both of their rooms. I'm assuming they'd both be locked otherwise. Green rain once per summer?

Are we sure green rain only happens once per summer? I'm looking through the code and I don't see it limiting the green rain to once a summer.

/// <summary>Get whether there's green rain scheduled on the given day.</summary> /// <param name="day">The day of month to check.</param> /// <param name="season">The season key to check.</param> public static bool isGreenRainDay(int day, Season season) { if (season == Season.Summer) { Random r = CreateRandom(Game1.year * 777, Game1.uniqueIDForThisGame); int[] possible_days = new int[8] { 5, 6, 7, 14, 15, 16, 18, 23 }; return day == r.ChooseFrom(possible_days); } return false; }

I'm not seeing anything higher up the stack or anywhere else that overrides this and forces it to only be once a summer.

I also checked the WeatherConditions in the LocationContext.json file (unpacked XNB file). There are no extra conditions set.

I also don't see anywhere a guarantee that it will occur. I think this is valuable info to add to the page, assuming I'm not missing something.

Adudeprogrammer (talk) 14:48, 12 June 2025 (UTC)

r.ChooseFrom(possible_days) returns the same thing every time you run isGreenRainDay on the same year. Whichever day that is will be the one green rain day for that year. Wikonimo (talk) 15:10, 12 June 2025 (UTC)

-- Ah, that is what I was missing. Thank you! Adudeprogrammer (talk) 15:30, 12 June 2025 (UTC)

Green Rain "bushes"?

First off, I very much think Green Rain should be its own page, or at least link to this one when searched. Second, there's a section under green rain where it says that destroying green rain bushes yields 15 Foraging XP, but I'm not sure if they mean weeds or large weeds. I don't want to edit it in case they're talking about something else, but green rain bushes aren't, like, a thing.

Lightning strike probability?

Currently, all the page says about lightning strikes is that "There is a chance for a lightning strike to occur every 10 minutes." From my experience it seems like a 10% chance every 10 minutes but can anyone confirm this? Concrete numbers here would help people using this page to plan how many lightning rods to put up.

I believe the information you are looking for is on the Lightning Rod page: Lightning Rod#Chance to Intercept. --margotbean (talk) 15:09, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

Ah, not quite. That gives the probability for a lightning rod to intercept a lightning strike given that the game has generated a lightning strike in that 10-minute tick. What I am looking for is the probability for the game to generate a lightning strike during each 10-minute tick in the first place. What I am referring to has nothing to do with lightning rods intrinsically as the game generates lightning strikes even if no lightning rods are present on the farm, but the information is still useful when deciding how many lightning rods to place as it determines roughly how many lightning strikes hit per stormy day.

Does green rain count for allowing you to get the mermaids pendant?

I need to know if green rain counts and allows you to get the mermaids pendant. I guess I’ll have to see for myself, but this is also just to spread the news in case anyone gets confused. XD992 (talk) 21:39, 30 June 2026 (UTC)

Yes, green rain is rain. It counts. margotbean (talk) 16:54, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
