== Fish Ponds <nowiki> {{name}} </nowiki> template changes ==
== Standardization of sources in items pages ==
Hello!
I have tried to edit the Fish Ponds page to include the <nowiki> {{name}} </nowiki> template, however you have reverted this change multiple times because it has to be introduced in all languages at once. This is pretty simple to do if there is a database/page with all the items' translations or a translation module in itself. Could you direct me to one if such exists?

Alternatively, tell me if you think this change better not be made. Thanks
Usually the fisrt paragraph in any item page is where it can be obtained, some items only have 1 source while other have 10+, those with many sources result in a vey confusing and slow to read paragraph making it very hard to find each specific source. In some pages, the sources are in a list from (e.g. [[Red Mushroom]]), while others are not (e.g. [[Emerald]]). I think the list format is much better and, in my opinion, should be the standard for items with many sources. I am open to work on this standardization if you agree with me [[User:Klytos|Klytos]] ([[User talk:Klytos|talk]]) 18:36, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
:My goodness, you do like to jump from one project to another! In this case, items with few sources are listed in paragraph form, and when the paragraph gets too long or cumbersome, a list format can be adopted. There is no need to apply a standard to all pages without regard to content! Thank you, [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 19:06, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

== Redirect pages ==
:Hello again, Artoftheblue! I wish there were a translation db or module, but there is none. Everything has to be done manually. I think the best solution for now is what you did -- create a page in your user space that's formatted the way you prefer. Happy New Year! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:52, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
:: Hmmmm... I might have a way to do this without a translation module actually as all the pages in other languages have the corresponding names in the same places of the table. Also, is there any other way to contact you/the wiki editors community, like through Discord or are user talks like this the go-to thing? [[User:Artoftheblue|Artoftheblue]] ([[User talk:Artoftheblue|talk]]) 11:17, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
:: Yeah okay so the main issue is that most languages don't have a page that is updated to version 1.5. I was able to successfully introduce the change in English, German, Russian and Korean, because those pages are updated already. The Chinese page is weird -- although it's updated the latest version, there are some grammar peculiarities that I can't yet understand. Regarding other languages I could either update them now in their current state to follow the format in their current version or someone could notify me when the information about newer features would be added to them and I'll update them then [[User:Artoftheblue|Artoftheblue]] ([[User talk:Artoftheblue|talk]]) 13:03, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
:::Talk pages are definitely the thing to do to communicate about the wiki.
:::When I said "the best solution is ..." I was trying to delicately say it would be better if the change were not made. The name template prevents proper sorting in languages other than English, and I think it makes certain sections of the table less readable. So, I would prefer all languages to remain plain text. The page you created in your user space is just fine, please feel free to continue to edit/change it as you wish.
:::I'm sorry I wasn't more clear before, but I want to thank you for your efforts and understanding! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:29, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
::::Ah well okay then -- and gladly my work wasn't manual so it's not an issue [[User:Artoftheblue|Artoftheblue]] ([[User talk:Artoftheblue|talk]]) 00:38, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
:::::I just had a look at the Chinese page and there are indeed many grammar related questions (the translation is incomplete). But I still would like to know what "some grammar peculiarities" are?  [[User:Sizau|Sizau]] ([[User talk:Sizau|talk]]) 22:24, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
::::::If I'm wrong, then Artoftheblue can correct me, but I believe they meant that when using google translate to read Chinese text, the result is a kind of word salad. All the words are there, but in different places than in English. Sometimes there are extra words that don't make sense. It basically means we don't speak or understand the Chinese language, and have to rely on online translators, which don't do a spectacular job of translating. ==Template for release note section intro?==
Hello Margotbean! I recently noticed that the farm maps redirect pages were really inconsistent, you could be redirected to the beach farm accesing "Beach Farm" but not "Beach Farm Map", and you couldn't be redirected to the hilltop farm accesing "Hiltop Farm", only "Hilltop Farm Map". In this example, some farm maps were only redirected if the page had "Map" in it and some if it didn't. To fix that I added redirect pages for all farm types with both "Map" in the title and not, adding the missing ones, only to be reverted by you.
Hi! Each [[Mobile Version History|release notes]] section has an intro in the form "''Stardew Valley {version} for {platform} was released on {date}''". That's duplicated for every version, which makes translation more tedious (and many wikis have patchy translations for it). What do you think of adding a template like <code><nowiki>{{release notes intro |Android |2023-01-10 |optional announcement link}}</nowiki></code> which would produce the translated text, so we could just copy the intro to each wiki as-is? —<small>[[User:Pathoschild|Pathoschild]] ([[User talk:Pathoschild|talk]]) 16:48, 10 January 2023 (UTC)</small>
:Well, I thought about this while I did my daily review of new changes to all the wikis today. My brutally honest thoughts, after some consideration:
:*It would be ''a lot'' of work for you, and it's not strictly necessary
:*The headings have been unified by a ZH editor in Chinese already, and that's the only language (other than English) that has had any activity by a native speaker in years (literally years)
:*You would have to choose which translation is the best one, and I'm not aware that you speak all 12 languages (well, the 8 or so that have the page anyway)
:*If a translator takes an interest in the page, there's a higher than 50% chance they won't understand what a template is, and will delete it, replacing it with plain text/links. Which means that I'll have to either put the template back, or adjust the template's translation to match what the native speaker typed. (More work for me)
:*A text editor with find/replace can do the same job, and that would probably be what a translator would be more comfortable with (based on my experience).
:*It would make sense to have the template used on all 3 version history pages (PC, Console, and Mobile), in all languages, so that's even more work (x36), and the PC version history page is kind of a mess in other languages from the hotfix template we created in English. (German still hasn't implemented it, but the page is translated, and I don't speak German, so... there it sits)
:So, while I see where this idea came from, I just really don't want another template to translate and maintain. I know it seems like it would be less work in the end, but my experience says that it will actually be more work, and not a whole lot of payoff. == Reformatting recipe tables to include translated headers? ==
Presented my argument could you please give a second thought on the pages? Maybe leaving only the ones without "Map", or with it, you decide. Thank you for your time [[User:Klytos|Klytos]] ([[User talk:Klytos|talk]]) 22:48, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Hello! I was taking a quick peek at the French version of the wiki and noticed a couple tables that had untranslated table headers for recipe tables, but they're just in wikitables sitting on the page, and I couldn't figure out how to get them to work nicely with the Recipes template :( A quick search for "Recipe Source" (on the fr wiki) should point toward the pages/tables in question, I'm just a bit stumped on how to contribute changes to those pages. e.g. on the (english) [[Oak Resin#Recipes]]
== Removed note on Crab Pot page. ==
<pre>
{{Recipes|header|hide=buff,duration,restores}}
{{:Deluxe Speed-Gro|RecipeRow/NoBuffsHealthEnergy}}
|-
|[[File:Keg.png|center]]
|[[Keg]]
|{{Description|Keg}}
|{{name|Wood|30}}{{name|Copper Bar|1}}{{name|Iron Bar|1}}{{name|Oak Resin|1}}
|class="no-wrap"|[[File:Farming Skill Icon.png|24px|link=]] [[Farming]] Level 8
|N/A
{{Recipes|footer}}
</pre>
If I'm understanding this correctly, the Deluxe Speed-Gro's infobox information is getting transcluded into the recipe template/oak resin page?, but the Keg row was just information formatted as a wiki table row within the recipe template, so is fixing those French pages just a matter of doing the latter? If this question doesn't make any sense I can try to explain it, I'm just trying to avoid making any sweeping changes when I don't know what the existing precedent is for this kind of work --[[User:Hexadecimal|Hexadecimal]] ([[User talk:Hexadecimal|talk]]) 06:40, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
:I think you understand it correctly -- Deluxe Speed-Gro is being transcluded, and the rest is just wikitext added to the table.
:I found only 6 pages that contain "Recipe Source", so it shouldn't be a huge project to translate the headers using simple wikitext. I had to find the pages with admin tools (the normal search gave too many false results), so I'll give you a list, for convenience:
:*[[:fr:Aile de chauve-souris|Aile de chauve-souris]]
:*[[:fr:Fabrication|Fabrication]]
:*[[:fr:Fragments d'os|Fragments d'os]]
:*[[:fr:Marbre|Marbre]]
:*[[:fr:Minerai d'iridium|Minerai d'iridium]]
:*[[:fr:Sirop d'érable|Sirop d'érable]]
:Again, please translate the headers using simple wikitext! Thank you, [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 19:04, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

== User talk to Margotbean(from Killa) ==
You removed a note on the crab pot page without proper justification. There is no possible way to cite the precise amount of time taken, as it is highly variable depending on various ingame conditions.

Hello Margotbean! Thank you for acknowledging my edit. I'll explain the bug I encountered.
I will restore it in 24 hours if you don't have a compelling reason not to.

When I first entered the Forge from ninth floor, I acquired the prismatic shard from the rare chest there. Then I went to sleep and saved the game. However, after I reopened the game the next day and entered the forge from the quick entrance (the entrance that can get you from the start of the volcanic dungeon to the Forge), the rare chest is still there, remaining unopened. I figured out that if I saved the file and reload the game, then the chest will still remain unopened, giving me the opportunity to farm prismatic shards (and also for those who need one lol).
I also kinda wanna note that the majority of current citations are either completely useless(because they don't actually reference anything the average player can access) or actively inaccurate, because various ingame conditions modify them. That being said, I did actually test the crab pot time ingame with 230 crab pots, and averaged around 40 extra minutes(compared to 90 normally).

Then I finished the volcanic dungeon from 1st floor to 9th floor again, and when I entered the Forge from 9th floor the chest is no longer there. It seems to me now that if players opened the chest and finish the volcano dungeon again, with no reloading save files in the interval, then the chest will disappear.
The entire wiki's citation method needs a serious rework.
I wonder if this solves your question.
With regards,
[[User:Killa|Killa]] ([[User talk:Killa|talk]]) 22:44, 14 January 2023
:Wow, Killa, yes, thanks for the explanation. I meant to test this over a week ago, and I've been so busy, it slipped through the cracks! I still haven't tested it for myself, but I've adjusted the explanation to include what you added here. Thank you so very much!! Hey there!
== Asking Questions ==
Hello, this is Jae Yoon Park.

I edited the Artifact spot page and changed the amount of golden coconuts you can receive from an artifact spot from 1 to 1-3 as I myself had gotten 3 from one spot and noticed the discrepancy on the wiki. I'm happy to find and reference the code, however I'm not sure exactly how to get there and I've got no idea where to start if I was to google it. Just wondering if you were aware on how I'd be able to find the necessary code and reference the change? Thanks :)
I have a question to you.

[[User:Sillybugger3000|Sillybugger3000]] ([[User talk:Sillybugger3000|talk]]) 08:43, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
On March 5th, 2025, Magma Sparker(Korean Page) was changed by you, and I tried to contact to you for a reason why it was changed.
:Hello! The answer to your question depends on your level of experience with computer code, I think. First, try [[Modding:Modder Guide/Get Started#How do I decompile the game code?|decompiling the game code]], and look at the methods referenced in the "References" section on the [[Artifact Spot]] page. #7 is the most appropriate place to start. If you can find <samp>digUpArtifactSpot</samp>, you'll see that an artifact spot should only produce one of item #791 (the Golden Coconut). (If you [[Modding:Editing XNB files#Unpack game files|unpack the game files]], you'll find the item ID for golden coconut in <samp>Data\ObjectInformation.xnb</samp>.)
:If all of that works out, then you can start to try to find the source of the extra coconuts.
:If all of that doesn't work out so well, then I have to put researching it on my "to do" list.
:If you were using a hoe with the [[Forge#Tool enchantments|Archaeologist enchantment]], that would explain one extra coconut, but not a third.
:Please let me know how this goes. We want the wiki to be accurate! Thanks so much, [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 19:55, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

== Luck Page ==
To be exact, just to hear the reason. No anger, no conflict, not seeking fights.

Hello, I would ask you to reconsider your position on my addition of the "rocks calculation" to the Luck page.
Just asking questions.

Your reasoning is "The page doesn't need to make sense in general"
Since I really love this game so I could give some hands for wiki pages especially Korean page.

I do believe the purpose of this wiki is to inform the readers, and 99% of the Stardew community has no idea how Luck works, and is not helped by the page.
But my work was not applied some works. Like changing gif file to none.

The most important and relevant instance of Luck is in the Mines. You can verify with a Google search or a Reddit search. When people see a good luck day on TV, they head to the mines. It's what most people know Luck for.
Was it the file size taking too much on it? or was it un nessesary for doing it? or was it some reason that needed to be change because of bug?

I believe you are doing the community a disservice by not having the formula for rocks and how luck affects it on the Luck page.
If you change some work without saying, I don't know which one should I change, improve or cautionus other pages.

Even if that whole page was deleted, and only the one line of calculation was there, I believe it would be more helpful to a reader, that's how important I think it is.
With sincerely, Jae Yoon Park.

Whether you want to reword it, or make a new page which the Luck page references, the luck formula for rocks should be known to the people. Amen.
In case of lost contact, here's my email number for it, jaeyoonpark.bba@gmail.com

:Hello! Your change was reverted because it was inconsistent with the other [[monsters]] pages. The [[Magma Sparker]] page has an animated .gif for the Magma Sparker, and the variations use [[Template:Name]], with static .png files.

In my opinion, it would be nice to have a .gif file, but I agree your words with the consistency.

#There is no punctuation, making the sentence a runon sentence
#The item has no relationship to the trivia bullet point it was added to

Hi Margotbean. I’m Howdoyoufindacheesetaco and I was the one who added the trivia about Caroline’s “Secret Walks”. I am aware it is in quotes, the reason I added it was because people normally don’t look at quotes and adding it in trivia would make people more aware of this.

Thanks.
The Mossy Seed explicitly refers to what the wiki currently has named "Green Rain Trees" as "Wild Trees." Since this is the canonical name for the trees, why was the page "Wild Tree" deleted? --[[User:NotAHamster|NotAHamster]] ([[User talk:NotAHamster|talk]]) 18:14, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Ah I see, Tree Fertiliser also refers to all non-fruit trees as "wild," and this would overload the terms. My edits (new account, CouldBeAHamster, didn't remember this username until after making those edits) adding information on enchantments to the watering can page are not adding any unnecessary detail, and information on tool upgrades is already duplicated from the [[Blacksmith]] page. For consistency shouldn't each tool page either not contain that information (about tool upgrades and prices) covered by the [[Blacksmith]] page, or also cover the information about which enchantments can be applied to it which is only present on the [[Forge]] page?

::::::I'm probably not typical in what I notice in the wiki, but I'll be glad when the schedules project reaches the active stage. It's the single element of the wiki where I consistently find unreliable information, to my continuing disappointment. Earlier on, I tried observing and and carefully documenting what I found, only to have others who claimed to "read the code" replace it less helpful and sometimes incorrect stuff, and it just wasn't my game to track down introduced errors. I have also found that the segments of game code that others have put up for examination only includes timings for when characters *begin* to move from one location to another, never when they *arrive*. Especially in longer walks, those can both be important reference points. So whatever you're planning, I hope it will be more comprehensive than what a decoding can produce.
::::::I also dislike the "deviations" technique of presentation. It just makes you have to look two places instead of one. A "deviation" isn't really that, it's just an overriding priority, so one prioritized list ought to work better.
::::::Finally, I dislike the headings "before the community center is done" and the "after". Either a player is before or after that milestone. If a character consistently changes behavior after, that complete schedule should be split down the middle "before" and "after", even if some pieces match either way. Seasons are already split this way, and this is the other big piece of schedule (even bigger) that will help reduce complexity inside the detail portions. Otherwise, the lookup process is just a hassle or resolve clearly.
::::::Didn't mean to go into such a treatise. I guess I'm more frustrated by schedules than I thought. I hope the thoughts may help with a new plan. I just don't have the energy for that level of cleanup any more. [[User:Giles|Giles]] ([[User talk:Giles|talk]]) 23:19, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
:::::::I definitely appreciate the feedback! I am frustrated by the state of villager schedules, and have been for about 6 years now. I agree, the "deviations" section is not the best way to present info; I'd like to get rid of it and integrate deviations into the main schedules.
:::::::Sometime in 2020 or so, I stalked Sebastian for several weeks (real time), because his schedule file is the most confusing. I found that his actual behavior deviated from the schedule file, because it took him longer to walk from his bedroom to the kitchen than expected. The schedule file assumed it took maybe 20 in-game minutes, when it took 30-40 (or something similar). Therefore, he reached the kitchen later, stayed for one 10-minute tick of the clock, then returned to his bedroom. I learned then that the schedule file is not the ultimate guide it ought to be.
:::::::Someday I will have all other more pressing projects done, and I'll be able to fix schedules. Someday... someday... someday... *sigh*
:::::::Again, I will take your comments into account. Thanks so much!! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 02:00, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

== Wiki Alternatives==
== Seaweed edit ==

[[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] It seems you're trying to maintain "total editorial control" over the content here, as though this were official documentation (rather than community). Have you considered software specifically designed for that scenario, rather than wiki software? Where I work there is a ton of official documentation where we need to guarantee quality for the reader. Publication can be controlled Git, combined with DocFX (there are similar technologies as well). Given how you run things, I suspect this would make your life much, much, much easier and is a better fit for what you're trying to accomplish. The flow requires contributors to do a "pull request", whereupon it can be discussed/approved/rejected. You would no longer be on the hook to "react" to changes made in the visible articles, since the pull request requires your approval before any change is made. This is vital to maintain one's sanity. Seriously, I can't believe you actually watch the page all day and react to everything. Impressive and dedicated, yes, but if I'm being honest, it's quite stifling. I feel like I'm trying to contribute to "your" documentation project.
Greetings, I have a question about your partial removal of my edit on the [[Seaweed]] page. Was there any particular reason for it? The order of the Crab Pot fish was changed to fit the in-game order of the fishing list (while minor, that made it consistent with the Fish page which keeps the tables ordered that way. Not worth an edit on its own, but while I was at it...). And the Tip section at the bottom is present on many other pages - acquiring resources like Stone, or items like Dwarf Scrolls. If Tips on item acquisition are not up with wiki policy, should those be removed as well? [[User:BridgeSeller|BridgeSeller]] ([[User talk:BridgeSeller|talk]]) 09:35, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

You could probably continue with the wiki approach if you really want to, but at the very least I would advise canonizing a lot of your opinions into the Help:Editing section, so that people know what to expect. For example, wikis typically need to repeat information in multiple pages for ease of reading, but you would prefer to have each fact presented only in a single article (presumably for maintainability/translation reasons), and this may be another sign this wiki may have graduated a public editing stage, and is instead more of an official docs site. I was also confused as to why we're not allowed to guide the player in any way. Seems inconsistent, as tons of pages on this site offer various "advice" and "tips" that help new players understand the thinking of a more seasoned player. Whatever the scope of the documentation (be it "fact dump" or "Helpful tips"), the intended scope should be explained somewhere. Canonizing those expectations fosters discussion on the guidelines. I'm sure some people want the "facts", other folks want help playing the game, or there may be other viewpoints that we don't know.
== Inconsistent formatting for regrowable crops ==

In any case, I'd never have expected to see such pushback on me cleaning up 5-year old articles that seem abandoned and uncared for. At least on the articles I'm editing, so far I am seeing very little community involvement, it just seems like you locking it down "because no one had a problem with it before". You're likely to push away your average wiki contributor this way, but I suspect that's intentional given the scope of expectations you want to maintain regarding the 12 languages. I appreciate the scope of this undertaking, but it is not really a wiki at this point, so I can't really fulfill any of my visions and there doesn't seem to be much community on the older pages either, so I'll probably try bringing the Fandom Stardew Wiki up to speed instead. Good luck!
Hi margotbean, for regrowable crop pages, such as the [[Ancient Fruit]] page, or the [[Strawberry]] page, or the [[Cranberries]] page, the formatting in the opening sentence is inconsistent. For example, the [[Ancient Fruit]] page reads "Thereafter, the mature plant yields another Ancient Fruit every 7 days", whereas the [[Strawberry]] page does not include a sentence about regrowability, whereas the [[Cranberries]] page includes this information after a comma, phrased as "and keeps producing fruit every 5 days after maturity."

== Changing Fried Egg Recipe ==
I believe the wiki should have some consistency here. I'm happy to agree on a format, and then it can be changed for every regrowable crop page.
Thanks, [[User:Swift To The Core|Swift To The Core]] ([[User talk:Swift To The Core|talk]]) 01:32, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
:That sounds like a good idea. You can choose the formatting. Have a think about what would sound best, and then go for it. Thank you! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 19:41, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

Hey! Sorry if I changed the text for the Fried Egg incorrectly! I didn't know how to change the text in the cute little boxes (like where you menioned its a starter recipe), only the written text in the paragraphs lol. Thank you for fixing the entire thing! :Hey JessieB! Thank ''you'' for finding a change that wasn't in the change notes (and that no one else noticed)! 😀 [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:57, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

::Well I found it by my sister and I making this little spreadsheet thing to race each other to perfection, and she said that getting that recipe should be worth some points (along with some others) and I brought up to her how I was pretty sure it was already known as part of a new file and so we looked on the wiki. It said when u upgrade the farmhouse but I was pretty sure I saw on it my unmodded switch (unlike my VERY molded pc lol) and I HAD to boot up a new save to see lol. I couldn't find any place on the site to report it so I made an account and threw it in there. I didn't expect it to be so complicated (to me) to change haha! Regardless, thank you! [[User:JessieB3999|JessieB3999]] ([[User talk:JessieB3999|talk]]) 22:40, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
I've noticed that you tend to undo all edits that displease you instead of fixing their errors or providing good reason. I don't understand why you have been so adamant against every single edit I have made. I try to add advice, you remove it for a nonsensical reason. I add additional information about combat on the Skills page to keep it in line with the other skills + other mentions of the combat skill and you revert it with no reason at all. I try to clarify false information about a bug (which currently states in absolutes that it "will" occur despite my own experience proving otherwise), and you revert it saying that the point lacks citations, but do not remove the point entirely for the same reason or even correct its grammatical errors. My edit of the point only changed "will" to "may" to make room for exceptions and restructured the sentences; your insistence on keeping the previous, incorrect revision comes off as very petty.
:::That is absolutely awesome! Thanks to both you and your sister for being competitive. 👍
:::If you ever have a question about how to edit something, you can always ask here on my talk page. I check in every day, unless I'm incapacitated by the flu. 😁 [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 04:04, 8 April 2023 (UTC)

== Shimmering Lights on regular Beach map ==
I understand it must be hard being the sole moderator on a big wiki - I have been staff on five - but this feels unnecessarily hostile and frankly, targeted, especially when I can see from your previous talk pages that this kind of conduct has discouraged multiple other editors in the past. Having every single one of my edits combated on my very first day on the wiki, even if one of them was partially conceded, certainly doesn't compel me to contribute any more. I don't believe it's a good idea for any wiki to have only a single person at the helm making every decision on their own and I hope the wiki will take on additional staff in the future instead of being entirely shaped by the vision of one person. [[User:PeculiarFairies|PeculiarFairies]] ([[User talk:PeculiarFairies|talk]]) 19:21, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

Since of our wiki saying that [[Copper Pan|Panning]] is not possible at [[The Beach]] except when the [[Night Market]] map is loaded really bugs me because when we play we keep seeing [[Copper Pan|Shimmering Lights]] at [[The Beach]] when the [[Night Market]] is not happening. Is this in the game code or not? Feel free to head over to the game code for research about [[Copper Pan|Shimmering Light]] locations. == Fish capitalization ==
:The game code checks for "not beach" before spawning shimmering lights. Perhaps you're using mods that change the game behavior. Otherwise, I can't explain it. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 20:06, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

== [[Shane]] attending [[Night Market]] bug ==
I'm sorry, what do you mean by "Most pages list the fish in lowercase"? From what I can tell by searching, say, Anchovy, dominant majority of mentions are capitalized. The main [[Fish]] page (or [[Fishing]]) has no lowercase fish names from what I can tell. Many Quest sections on Fish pages list them capitalized already. The Smallmouth Bass has both capitalized and non-capitalized versions in there after you reverted my edit - so is either correct? If so, why the revert? If not, why not correct the capitalized version? In-game the fish names are always capitalized when a specific fish is mentioned (the only exception is a different-species Fish Pond message, and even that one isn't without an exception of its own!). What? Capitalizing fish names is consistent with most items being capitalized, and most fish mentions on the wiki are already capitalized.  Please do not ignore this message. Please provide the many pages listing fish uncapitalized. Please. [[User:BridgeSeller|BridgeSeller]] ([[User talk:BridgeSeller|talk]]) 20:59, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! I looked at the Quests section of several pages ([[Carp]], [[Albacore]], [[Eel]], [[Pufferfish]], [[Catfish]]) and saw them in lowercase. I thus concluded that you were introducing inconsistency.
:If you wish to make a complete survey of capitalization on fish pages, and then introduce complete consistency, you are welcome to do so. However, it probably won't stay "perfect" and will take more time than it's worth. It's up to you, with my blessings. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 00:25, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
::I do plan to do so then. I've taken a look at most generally fish-related articles, as well as specific-species pages, and they seem to prove my point. As for "imperfect" and "impermanent" - there aren't any big upcoming changes fish pages will go through. If one is added with an update, whoever changes it will most likely capitalize it, following all other examples around. It's hard to step away from the standard.  As a note, I'll be enacting the following changes for every fish's species page. From Pufferfish to Oyster.
::a) Every mention of a fish as an item will be capitalized (most, practically all already are). I will obviously not modify the direct quotes or descriptions from the game. Mostly just affects the "Quest" section.
::b) "Map" section: the wording used will be "The (fish) can be found ..." (keeping as is, adding "The" if it's missing). Some fish don't have "The" there, but most do, and I think it fits the species-wide description.
::c) I'll be adding "to be caught" to the '''Fishing''' lines in the "Quest" section. As it is written now, the same as '''Item Delivery''' quest, it's ambiguous and doesn't state the fish actually have to be ''caught'' for the quest. '''Aquatic Overpopulation''', on the other hand, mentions it outright and has the same quest mechanics in-game. Makes it more clear as a whole. See [[Largemouth Bass#Quests]] for an example.
:: Since the new user mass-edit restriction applies to talk pages as well for some reason, this one will be split. [[User:BridgeSeller|BridgeSeller]] ([[User talk:BridgeSeller|talk]]) 16:46, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
::d) For fish it applies to, "It/(fish name) can also randomly be found in Garbage Cans during (seasons), or at the Traveling Cart for (price).". Mix-and-match depending on the other methods of acquisition, but what can you do? (Yes, this part is already present for most fish, but not all.)
::Normally I wouldn't describe standardization in such details, but it seems to be a good idea in this case, such as too prevent ~70 edits from being reverted. If you have any notes on the changes above or your own ideas on which standards should be introduced, please voice them here. I'll be moving on with the changes after receiving your feedback or in 2-3 days regardless.
::Sidenote: I would appreciate a response to the Seaweed section-question above. I understand your lack of time, and amount of energy required to patrol the wiki, but providing general guidelines for what can (not) or should (not) be present on the wiki (as well as style and criteria for such) might free up more time in the future, as editors will actually have rules to follow. Even if you have to point to some archived talk page you wrote up five years ago. Even if you just say "be more like Page1 and less like Page2_reverted_edit" ten times. [[User:BridgeSeller|BridgeSeller]] ([[User talk:BridgeSeller|talk]]) 16:48, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
:::All sounds fine, thank you for the note (x2)! As for seaweed, how is it that the [[Training Rod]] cannot catch anchovy, sardine, or herring on sunny days? [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 20:29, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
::::While my original edit lacked the fact it was specific to Summer days, I corrected it once I noticed I missed it. Summer Ocean has no fish catchable by Training Rod. Hence the only catchables are Trash items, Seaweed and Sea Jelly. It boosts the Seaweed output heavily compared to average fishing with other fish available (and at no effort or bait expense). Quite handy if you're planning on building a number Fish Ponds. [[User:BridgeSeller|BridgeSeller]] ([[User talk:BridgeSeller|talk]]) 21:49, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

Apparently in our wiki it says that there was a bug with [[Shane]] where he would attend the [[Night Market]], which was patched, did this mean that [[Shane]] attended the [[Night Market]] every day it was around? Because he only attends it on [[Winter]] 15. Feel free to look through the [[Version History]] page to try to find this. It may be v1.4 or v1.5 that it was patched. I've noticed that most of the Stardew Valley Expanded Wiki uses "Artifact Spots" instead of "Artifact Spot". Would it be wiser to redirect it on the main wiki, or should it just be changed on the SVE Wiki? [[User:Makerman991|Makerman991]] ([[User talk:Makerman991|talk]]) 01:14, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
:Hello! I dislike redirects because they confuse translators and because people invariably link to the redirect instead of the actual page. (Depending on the redirect, this may be a little or wildly inappropriate.) So, no redirects on the main wiki, thanks! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 03:37, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

Apparently in our wiki everything says Gifts as "Neutral" which makes sense, but apparently in the Gift Log, which you can access through selecting the heart button, then a [[Villager]], If you've given any Neutral gifts, the wording in the gift log is "Normal Gifts" instead of "Neutral Gifts". This is incorrect in the wiki because everything says "Neutral" instead of "Normal". This is something that you should check in the game code for research about. == Infoboxes for Desert Trader Furniture ==

== Im new, and confused.  ==
Hi, I've noticed that the infoboxes on pages for furniture that can be purchased from the [[Desert Trader]], such as [[Dark Piano]], [[Birch Double Bed]], or [[Butterfly Hutch]] do not include the price of these items in the infobox, and only have it hidden within the text of the page where it is more difficult to read. However, other pages like the [[Warp Totem: Desert]] include the price in a format of "[[Desert Trader]] for {{name|Iridium Bar|10|class=inline}}"
Hi! its me, [[User:Mortician Technician]]. Im new here, and I noticed that the [[Chicken]] page didn't include the Friendship aspect of having them. I made an account specifically for this, actually. And on account of me being new, I wasnt sure how to properly format the edit, and I apologize for this. However, how should I edit what I wrote, If edit it all. Or should I just leave it? Like I said, I apologie for being annoying, Im young and new to this, and just wanted to help. Thank you for helping me sort out my edit!
[[User:Mortician Technician|Mortician Technician]] ([[User talk:Mortician Technician|talk]]) 18:13, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
:Well, welcome to the wiki! The problem with the edit was chiefly that it needs to be applied to all affected animals' pages, not just the chicken. So, if you're willing to add a section about animal care & friendship to all farm animals' pages, then we can discuss the specifics. Are you up for editing several pages? [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 19:21, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

:::Well, I could have written a note on your talk page to explain things a little more, so don't worry. To be honest, my mind is a bit blown that there isn't already an "Animal Care" section on the farm animals' pages. They may have been a bit neglected in this regard.
:::The good news is that once you have the section written, most of it can be copy/pasted to the other animals' pages with only a few changes. It might be a good idea to put it on your [[User:Mortician Technician|user page]] first, then tweak it until it's right. After that, copy/pasting will be easy. And don't neglect your studies to do it! :) [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 14:49, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
::::Thank You!! Im definitely up to start working on creating new "care" sections for the animals, I will have to do some research though, due to the fact that I only have chickens right now. ==Year 2 Egg Festival Dialogues==
Hi margotbean (again!), I was just going through the Island Trader pages and trying to create some consistency in the Source(s) section of the infoboxes, because some had a little icon for the Island Trader and some did not.

I was going through and removing the icon for pages that had it, but now that I've had a moment to think about this, I actually think it looks better with the little icon.

Hi Margotbean, I would like to help with this project! But before I get started, I want you to confirm that the format is appropriate. For example, Abigail's:

[[User:Carpediem|Carpediem]] ([[User talk:Carpediem|talk]]) 18:30, 8 May 2023 (UTC) 8 May 2023 (UTC) Hi there! Love this wiki guide and the massive work you all do to keep it updated! Thank you! Use it with every game play. It appears to be broken now for non-members. Posts on r/StardewValley are piling up. Thank you. runs off screaming wiki down! wiki down!
Hey Margotbean! Recently while playing I checked the schedule from the villagers a bit more often and it got a bit confusing sometimes to either check for the season first and then for the day, and on some pages there isn't a season indicator first but rather the specific days. Is there a reason for this? If there isn't, I would like to format it in a  way, that every schedule page for the villagers is the same. I do like the format with the seasons first and then sort it.
:Hello Carpediem! We are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. Are you seeing the problem while logged in? If not, for now that is the workaround -- create an account and login. The problem seems to affect only users who are not logged in. Hopefully this will be fixed shortly! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:34, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

== Leo's "likes" ==
== Additional Tool Resource ==

hi Margotbean, regarding my reverted edit today on [[Leo]]'s "likes", here's how i read it:
Howdy! I'd like to respectfully request that my Stardew farm planning tool be considered for listing among the others on [[Stardew Valley Wiki#Resources]]. The planner was built to work seamlessly on both mobile and desktop, and since millions of Stardew players play on consoles or mobiles, often without easy access to a desktop, it would be wonderful if they could discover my tool that is accessible and friendly to mobiles. It is a passion project I have worked on for over half a year, it is highly accurate to the game itself and has enourmous amounts of polish, completely ad-free and free to use.
* original: "All Universal Likes (except Beer, Coffee, Life Elixir, Mead, Pale Ale, Pickles, Piña Colada, Wine, and Cooking other than Bread, Fried Egg, Poi, Mango Sticky Rice, & Triple Shot Espresso)"
* rephrased: "He likes everything, EXCEPT for cooking which he doesn't like, EXCEPT for espresso which he does like"
...and that's incorrect, he doesn't like espresso, he hates it. the only thing in the list of "exceptions to not liking cooking" that he likes is mango sticky rice. i think my original edit was correct? [[User:Cooperka|Cooperka]] ([[User talk:Cooperka|talk]]) 16:12, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
:Well, all villagers' pages are written the same way; that is, an exception to an exception means we don't know how they feel about the item, just that it's an exception to the rule. So, Leo doesn't necessarily like any of the listed cooked dishes, it's just that they don't follow the rule that "Leo doesn't like cooking". Basically it means "do more research before gifting these items". I know it can be a mind-bender.  [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 17:00, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
::it makes sense that a '''regular''' exception means "we don't know how they feel, so do more research before gifting", but an exception to an exception should mean something different than that, shouldn't it? i looked through every villager page and i'd like to hear your thoughts on the list below. there are only a few villagers who have double-negated entries, and most of the entries are written "correctly" from my perspective, with only a few exceptions in parentheticals below:

::* [[Krobus]] - universal likes except Cooking, but still likes Seafoam Pudding (so no modification is needed here; his page is already correct from my perspective)
You can access and evaluate it here: StardewPlan.com -- Please feel free to remove the link after viewing as this is not intended to be spam. Happy to answer any questions! --[[User:Yooks|Yooks]] ([[User talk:Yooks|talk]]) 07:10, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
::* [[Sebastian]] - universal likes except Artisan Goods, but still likes Coffee & Green Tea (so i think we should just remove Oil from the exceptions to not liking Artisan Goods because, '''as expected''', he doesn't "like" Oil. Oil is '''not''' an exception to his "not liking Artisan Goods", it actually follows the rule, so there's no need to name it. otherwise, we would need to enumerate the entire set of Artisan Goods -- for example, why isn't Honey listed there too?)
::* [[Jas]] - universal likes except Artisan Goods, but still likes Honey & Jelly (so i think we should remove Oil)
::* [[Vincent]] - universal likes except Artisan Goods, but still likes Honey & Jelly (so i think we should remove Oil)
::* [[Linus]] - universal likes except Gems, but still likes Diamond (so i think we should remove Prismatic Shard)
::* [[Pierre]] - universal likes except Gems, but still likes Diamond (so i think we should remove Prismatic Shard)
::* [[Leo]] - universal likes except Cooking, but still likes Mango Sticky Rice (so i think we should remove Bread, Fried Egg, Poi, & Triple Shot Espresso)
::* [[Willy]] - universal likes except Cooking, but still likes quite a few cooked dishes that are listed explicitly in his table (so i think we should remove the sentence about being neutral to some cooked dishes, because that's redundant information and is already listed in the "neutral" section)
::* [[Leah]] - universal likes except Foraged Minerals and Gems, but still likes Earth Crystal and Diamond (so i think we should remove Prismatic Shard). beautifully formatted list, i would love to format all double-negations this way for readability, if you think it's appropriate.

::so, of the 9 pages that include double-negative items, 12 of the double-negatives are already "correct" from my perspective, and only 10 should be removed; it's a fairly minor cleanup. does this help clarify what i mean? [[User:Cooperka|Cooperka]] ([[User talk:Cooperka|talk]]) 20:52, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
== Catalogue furniture page consistency ==

:::I think they're already written correctly in all 12 languages. What you're proposing might make sense to you, but it wouldn't be correct. Perhaps using [[List of All Gifts]] would be more helpful for you to use during gameplay? [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 23:13, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
Hi margotbean! I've noticed an inconsistency across furniture item pages. Some pages (like [[Wizard Table]]) include the 0g cost in the opening line, while others (like [[Wizard Bed]]) don't. Since the majority of pages include the cost, I believe that's the correct standard.
::::Thank you for the link. I can sense that I'm bothering you, so let me cut to a simpler question to resolve this because I'm just looking for an explanation. [[Bread]] is a universal Neutral; Leo is Neutral to Bread; Leo Dislikes most Cooking except for a few things including Bread, and the [[List of All Gifts]] describes this perfectly for Leo; but [[Leo#Like|Leo's "Likes"]] section explains that he does not Like Cooking, and Bread is an exception to his not Liking Cooking. If you can help me understand why Bread belongs here even though he doesn't Like it, that's all I'm trying to understand. '''Nothing about Bread is unusual for Leo''', it's a universal Neutral, yet it's explicitly called out in his Likes. Why? [[User:Cooperka|Cooperka]] ([[User talk:Cooperka|talk]]) 14:10, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
Could you please do the following text replacements to standardise the catalogue furniture pages?
:::::It's because bread is an exception to "All cooking". Again, if you're thinking that Leo doesn't like bread, you must do more research to see how he feels about it. What the page says is that it's an exception to his not liking "All cooking". That's it, that's the answer. It's an exception to "all cooking".
:::::It ends up being that a double negative cancels out, and Leo doesn't like Bread, or, I should say, he's neutral towards it. But I only know that because I've checked universal gifts first, and Leo's other gifting sections. I know the gifting sections are confusing, but I don't know how I can explain it in a different way. Really, my point is that they're all written the same way, in 12 languages, and they're all equally confusing/clear. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 14:47, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
::::::You're saying that Bread is an exception to Leo "not Liking All cooking", but that's clearly false, because he doesn't Like Bread. I give up lol. [[User:Cooperka|Cooperka]] ([[User talk:Cooperka|talk]]) 15:42, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Since we are trying to get a [[Gold Clock]] to get [[Perfection]], we always feel upset about how many [[Truffle]]s [[Pig]]s create in a day. We always think that the amount of [[Truffle]]s [[Pig]]s create in a day depends on [[Luck|Daily Luck]]. Every day that says "Very happy today", "Good humour today", or the +0.02 [[Luck]] from "Neutral" days, we usually get about 4-8 [[Truffle]]s. Every day that says "Very displeased today", "Somewhat annoyed / mildly perturbed today", or the -0.02 [[Luck]] from "Neutral" days, we usually get about 1-3 [[Truffle]]s. Is it random on the amount of [[Truffle]]s [[Pig]]s create in a day or is it like on-screen frames while we're on our [[The Farm|Farm]]? ==Something I Encountered on [[Slimes]]==
I'm not sure if this would be an important problem with the wiki, since that page probably isn't very known about anyway, but I thought I would flag it to you regardless! Thanks, [[User:Swift To The Core|Swift To The Core]] ([[User talk:Swift To The Core|talk]]) 05:57, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
Hello! I was reading the [[Slimes]] page and in [[Slimes#Special Slimes|this part]], it says "Special Dark Green Slime", but the slime is yellow and even its file says "Yellow Slime". Was this on purpose or a mistake? [[User:Peaw|Peaw]] ([[User talk:Peaw|talk]]) 18:29, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
:In the game code, there's no "yellow slime", they're all variations of green slimes. So, the title of the image (uploaded in 2016) describes the appearance without delving into the game code. The understanding that yellow slimes are actually green slimes came after the image was uploaded.
:I could change the name of the image, but it would be much more trouble than it's worth (12 languages, waiting for the server cache to update the image on the wiki...)
:Hope this helps! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 19:00, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
::Ah okay. Do you think I should use "green" or "yellow" for it then, even though it's actually just a recolored green slime? Sorry if I misunderstood. [[User:Peaw|Peaw]] ([[User talk:Peaw|talk]]) 20:07, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
:::I think you understood what I wrote. The special slime is called a "green" slime on the page, and the rest are called "yellow" slimes, so I would do the same thing in Turkish. If the English page is updated by someone more familiar with the game code than me, then I will update the Turkish page (or request that you or Syammu update it). 😀😉 Thanks for being so thorough, and taking care of the wiki! ==Something I Encountered on [[Wilderness Golem]]==
I’m currently playing the game and was using the dangerous mines to complete my monster slayer goal, while killing 3 dust sprites, one dropped an autopetter, I came onto here to see if that has been noted as a mob drop for dangerous dust sprites and it has not. If you need evidence, I have a video of it dropping.
Hello! I was translating the [[Wilderness Golem]] page and saw that "Iridium Ore (%1)" was written twice in its drop table. Was this a mistake or on purpose to mean something like (1% + 1%)? [[User:Peaw|Peaw]] ([[User talk:Peaw|talk]]) 12:43, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
:It means there's a 1% chance for it to drop one item and a 1% chance to drop another of the same item. The two events are independent of each other, so the percentages can't be combined. You'll see this on a lot of monsters' pages. It means the same thing in each case. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 16:55, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

== Fish pages ==

Greetings! Haven't heard from you in a month, hope you've been well!

I'm fairly certain I've ran the standard of fish pages by you earlier. For example, d) For fish it applies to, "It/(fish name) can also randomly be found in Garbage Cans during (seasons), or at the Traveling Cart for (price).". It's what is used for most pages. It's easier to understand, as "Can be found at X, or Y under certain conditions" can be misinterpreted to mean both X and Y have conditions, as opposed to "Can be found at Y under certain conditions, or at X", which is clear as day.

I can create my own talk page in case you'd want to leave a helpful comment there before reverting all the edits you've approved. Seriously, it'll save a lot of work.

I am attempting to clarify the wording in the little blurb describing how lightning rods function. The page currently says that "If Lightning Rods are placed anywhere on the farm, they have a good chance to intercept lightning strikes ..." and all I am attempting to change it to is "If Lightning Rods are placed anywhere on the farm, they have a chance to intercept lightning strikes regardless of where they are placed on the farm ..." because there is no guarantee that they will have a "good" chance of intercepting a lightning strike as that entirely depends on the number of lightning rods and how many have already intercepted a lightning strike that day.

== Bug for giving [[Friendship|Gifts]] to [[Villagers]] ==
I appreciate that you have added the part about how they work "regardless of where they are placed on the farm" but I noticed that you changed the wording to say that they have a "very good chance" to intercept lightning strikes, which is not necessarily true and actually less accurate than the original wording. If, for example, there are many lightning rods on the farm and all but one of them have already intercepted a lighting strike that day, then there is in fact a very *poor* chance that the free lighting rod will intercept any lightning strikes. This is why I wanted to change the wording to simply say that "there is a chance to intercept lightning strikes", which is accurate without claiming anything about how good of a chance that is since the exact likelihood is already covered in detail on the Lightning Rod page: [[Lightning Rod#Chance to Intercept]]. Also, any idea why the wiki page still blocks a simple edit like this claiming that it is "adding external links" when no links at all are being added? - [[User:Sm00thJa22|Sm00thJa22]] ([[User talk:Sm00thJa22|talk]]) 21:27, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
:"Very good chance" is the original wording, as it is a direct quote from ConcernedApe, thus the reason it's in quotes.
:Any edit to a paragraph or section containing an external link counts as an edit to an external link. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 21:44, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

Since of giving [[Friendship|Gifts]] to [[Villagers]], there was a bug where when you gave somebody a [[Friendship|Gift]], it ended up saying "You've already given [[Villagers|Villager]] a gift today." when you actually haven't, it also took the item that you tried giving the [[Villagers|Villager]] and it also played the sound effect for giving a [[Friendship|Gift]], instead of the dialogue typing sound, if you talked to them again, they would say what they where supposed to say to the [[Friendship|Gift]]. Here is [[Penny]] as an example:
::Ah, I see. That is terribly unfortunate wording on the part of ConcernedApe. Would it still not be more accurate to simply change it to "there is a chance to intercept lightning strikes" which is factually correct instead of using a direct quote that is factually incorrect?

Love: "Thank you! I really love this!"
::I see now why the edit is blocked, because both this bullet point about lightning rods and the one above it about lighting not striking chests have references improperly embedded directly into the bullet points both linking to the same external reddit post by ConcernedApe. I noticed that this creates two identical entries in the references section at the bottom of the page, one of them being completely superfluous. I propose moving these external references to a single entry in the reference section where it belongs and referencing it using the proper "ref name=" tag in the two bullet points to keep the format in line with the rest of the wiki. I would do this myself but, as it involves external links, any edit I make involving them is blocked. - [[User:Sm00thJa22|Sm00thJa22]] ([[User talk:Sm00thJa22|talk]]) 21:54, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi! Just joined but was looking at this and I noticed this:
At skill level 0, each successful use of a Pickaxe, Axe, or Hoe costs 2 energy. Unsuccessful uses (e.g., attempting to chop a Large Log with the starter axe) cost 1 energy. Each cast of the Fishing Pole costs 8 energy, even if the cast fails (e.g., the fishing line does not land in water). The starter Watering Can uses 2 energy.

== New Page ==
-Is there a way to group the water can with the other two energy usage tools? Or is it because the water can uses two energy regardless if u miss or not?, just wondering, bye! [[User:AcroCrafter|AcroCrafter]] ([[User talk:AcroCrafter|talk]]) 04:16, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

Hey MargotBean, Stardude here. I just have a small suggestion, it’s hard to search for glitches on the wiki, so why don’t you guys/girls/other add a glitches/bugs page, it would list the current known glitches in the game without the struggle of scouring the Internet to find them. Hi Margotbean, I ran a perfection playthrough to update the routing images since the ones on here are only for V 1.4, however I'm not someone that knows how to format or code and don't want to break the wiki. I was wondering if there was a way I could get assistance adding the pictures in a new section underneath the 1.4 images? I don't want to replace them since people still run older versions, just wanted to contribute with Leo/Ginger Island/shortcuts added in. (If this is the right place for assistance I can link my Reddit post where I have the photos and description of the run and possible issues there may be with the pathing)
== Tree Fertilizer keeps working after a tree is fully grown ==

[[User:Mookie112|Mookie112]] ([[User talk:Mookie112|talk]]) 03:22, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
Hi! First time for me to suggest something. This is something I've actually tested myself for the purpose of growing Moss. Tree Fertilizer guarantees that an affected tree will gain a stage of growth every day, but the pages for Moss, Trees, and Tree Fertilizer don't clarify the fact that the effect of Tree Fertilizer remains in place after the tree is fully grown. My opinion is that one or more of those pages should include that information so that players can more effectively grow Moss. [[User:Robotbarracuda|Robotbarracuda]] ([[User talk:Robotbarracuda|talk]]) 06:28, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
:Hello and welcome! Your comment seems to indicate that (1) Trees continue to gain stages of growth past "fully-grown", and (2) The stage of growth continues to increase the chance that a tree will grow moss. But, neither of these things is stated on the wiki (that I know of). And so, (without consulting the code), it seems those things need to be elucidated before adding the info you're suggesting. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 16:34, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
::Thanks! First thing, Trees (specifically the 5 tree sprites that can grow Moss) absolutely do continue to gain stages of growth past fully-grown, and this fact is stated on the page for Moss explaining the requirements for its growth. A fully-grown tree that can grow Moss, such as a Pine Tree, is at growth stage 5 on the day that it attains its full-sized sprite. The pages for both Moss and Trees state that there are an additional 10 growth stages after a common Tree has reached its full size, for a total of 15 growth stages (the last 10 growth stages have no in-game visual indication). In order to grow Moss, a Tree must be at least growth stage 14. Where Tree Fertilizer comes into the equation is in guaranteeing stages of growth over time. Without Tree Fertilizer, the chance for a common Tree to gain a stage of growth is 20%. This chance stays in place after growth stage 5, if no Tree Fertilizer is applied. The chance bumps to 100% if you slather a young Tree with Fertilizer. The point I'm trying to make here is that the effect of Tree Fertilizer stays in place after the Tree is fully grown, which means that the Tree is guaranteed to reach growth stage 14 on the 9th day following its transformation into its full size. Moss itself also has an effect on this because harvesting Moss from a Tree drops its growth stage back down to 10 or 11, requiring you to wait for it to reach stage 14 again before it can regrow the Moss. Again, the effect of Tree Fertilizer is still present for every part of this process, guaranteeing stages of growth every single day. This makes Tree Fertilizer a valuable resource for speeding up and making more consistent the process of growing and harvesting Moss. I think it would be beneficial for players and the overall completeness of the Wiki if any of the relevant pages included this as a strategy. You can actually test all of this yourself in-game like I did; If you use the Item ID Glitch to give yourself Pine Cones and Tree Fertilizer, you can plant them and apply the Fertilizer, then wait. Just clear some farm space and leave most of the Trees alone that were present when you began the save file. Once you reach Spring 16 (if you planted on day 2 of Spring) about 10% of the Trees you slathered with Fertilizer should grow some Moss, while almost none of the rest of the Trees in the valley will have Moss on them. Let me know if there's a piece of this process that you have any questions about. [[User:Robotbarracuda|Robotbarracuda]] ([[User talk:Robotbarracuda|talk]]) 08:25, 15 July 2026 (UTC)

::::If I were to write up an addition to a page it would probably go under the Moss page, likely as a "note" or "strategy" section.
::::"Because the effect of Tree Fertilizer is not erased upon a tree becoming fully grown, applying Tree Fertilizer can make the process of growing moss faster and more consistent by guaranteeing that a tree gains a growth stage every day, including after moss has been harvested."
::::Something like that. As far as code references go, I have to admit that I have no idea how I would go about finding that for you. [[User:Robotbarracuda|Robotbarracuda]] ([[User talk:Robotbarracuda|talk]]) 19:06, 17 July 2026 (UTC)

== Quality of [[Fish]] always being Basic Quality ==
Hello Margotbean!

Since our lads were playing tonight, when the lads did [[Fishing]] in the [[The Desert|Calico Desert]], Pirate Cove at [[Ginger Island]], River at Dig Site at [[Ginger Island]], or Fishing Submarine at the [[Night Market]], every [[Fish]] we caught was a Basic Quality [[Fish]], It didn't matter if the catch was "Perfect!" just Basic Quality. Does this mean that Silver, Gold, and Iridium, [[Fish]] like [[Sandfish]], [[Stingray]]s, [[Blobfish]], [[Midnight Squid]]s, and [[Spook Fish]], are impossible to get? Because this Wiki says every Quality of [[Fish]], We are so confused, it didn't matter what type of Fishing Rod was used, just Basic Quality [[Fish]], Head over to the game code for [[Fish]] Quality. [[User:9000|9000]] ([[User talk:9000|talk]]) 8:55, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
I'm leaving this message because I'd love to contribute a bit to the Korean Stardew Valley Wiki.

:It is possible to get all fish in iridium quality.
I noticed the image([https://stardewvalleywiki.com/File:Getting_Started_-_Wiki_KO.png Getting Started - Wiki KO.png]) at the very top of the [https://ko.stardewvalleywiki.com/%EC%8B%9C%EC%9E%91_%EC%95%88%EB%82%B4%EC%84%9C Korean “Getting Started” page], which features the Korean text "시작 안내서" (corresponding to the text "Getting Started Guide" in the English version). While the translation itself is completely accurate and well done, I wanted to bring up a minor detail regarding the font choice.
:Here's the code you asked for: [[Fishing#Fish Size & Quality]]. It explains how fishing zones and fishing levels affect fish quality. Also, the places you mentioned has shallower [[Fishing Strategy#Fishing Zones|fishing zones]]. So, check your lads' fishing zone and fishing level, and pay attention to them while fishing. --[[User:Shirotsuki|Shirotsuki]] ([[User talk:Shirotsuki|talk]]) 14:08, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

== Sturdy Ring on Minerals Page for Earth Crystal ==
Currently, the Korean image uses a standard system font, which feels a bit like using ‘Arial’ or ‘Comic Sans’ in English. Since the English version uses a lovely pixel-style font that fits the game’s aesthetic perfectly, I thought it would look much better if the Korean header matched that same pixel art style.

If you go to the Minerals page, you can see the Sturdy Ring is in the 'Used In' column for the Earth Crystal. The Earth Crystal was taken out of the crafting recipe in update 1.4 as seen on the Sturdy Rings page under History. [[User:Cal|Cal]] ([[User talk:Cal|talk]]) 08:28, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

Greeting, I am here to approve some of the edits I think would be nice.

Or maybe it should be Penny OR Sam. I don't have the game code, nor mods installed to test and confirm. [[User:IAmNotARook|IAmNotARook]] ([[User talk:IAmNotARook|talk]]) 22:43, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
1) Quests page -> add to Bugs section: Catfish and Red Snapper being able to be requested during Winter for Fishing quest. This is a bug, as it's noted to have been fixed in 1.4.4 and 1.6.4 respectively in the [[Version History|patch notes]]. It has not been fixed.

:I understand, your game is not following what the wiki says. The 2nd entry in Leo's mainland schedule is <code>"23": "NOT friendship Sam 6 Penny 6/GOTO spring"</code>, so it's fairly clear what he should be doing. You could report the odd behavior as a bug on the [https://forums.stardewvalley.net/forums/help-bug-reports-non-modded.12/ official forums], if you like. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 01:23, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
2) Cindersap Forest -> add to Bugs section: Sardine being able to be requested by Trash Bear during Summer. Sardine is not a Summer seasonable fish and has a history of being removed from various quest lists due to that (see Version History). While it's not explicitly noted in patch notes, it's fairly obviously not an intended outcome. Also - I'd link the function it uses in References since it's unique to the Trash Bear (likely thus the unique oversight).

== Milk and egg products ==
3) An edit to Seaweed page, describing a method to obtain large qualities of an item. Such tips already exist on the wiki, on pages like Stone or Dwarf Scroll 1 & 4. The text I have in mind is: "The player may obtain large quantities of Seaweed by fishing on the Beach during sunny [[Summer]] days using [[Training Rod]], as it's the only available catch outside of [[Trash]] and [[Sea Jelly]]." During sunny Summer days Training Rod cannot hook any fish due to the limited pool available - not Sardines, not Anchovy, not Herring, not Red Snapper. It is the only consistent way to do so, too.
Hey margotbean, sorry if it’s getting annoying but I noticed it says an overall score of 1200 will guarantee a large product in [[Animals#Large_Eggs_and_Milk|Large eggs and milk]], and that might be confusing to new players, so should we have it be “or a total calculation above 1”? Fri 4 aug 9:43 (AEST) Stardude
:I think they'd still have to read the entire section to understand what it means, so I'm not sure it would be more clear. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:01, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

:Hello! The edit to the Seaweed page is good. Please don't forget to specify "sunny summer days". For the 3 bugs, please report them on the [https://forums.stardewvalley.net/ forums] first. If you can provide code references, all the better. It's not a guarantee that they will be fixed, but it increases the chances dramatically. After that, it would be more appropriate to add the Catfish & Red Snapper bugs to the individual pages instead of the Quests page, since it's not a problem with the quest system, but with the item chosen for the quest. (A fine point, but an important one from the player perspective.) For the Sardine/Trash Bear bug, yes, please add that to the Cindersap Forest page and include the code reference. Thank you, [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 17:06, 30 August 2026 (UTC)

::Given that I will be "previewing" some more edits and suggestions here, how should they be handled? A continuation of this section or a new section for every couple of them? Hi Margotbean. I made an edit to the descriptions that state the Quarry has to be unlocked for the Dungeon Floors to appear in the regular mines making it to read that the [Quarry Mines] would need to be unlocked for these floors to appear in the regular mines. My edit was reversed, but is actually fact. These dungeon floors will NOT appear in the regular mines if that Quarry Mine has not been unlocked. I know this from playing the game across many save files and experimenting with this. I purposely do not unlock the Quarry Mines and never get those dungeon floors. If I do go into the Quarry Mines and unlock it then those floors do randomly appear in my regular mines. I do unlock the actual Quarry area on every save, just not that mine that is called the Quarry Mine. The Quarry area only needs to be unlocked to gain access to that Mine, but the Mine has to be unlocked to get those dungeon floors added in the regular mines. Thank you.

What next... 1) You can only receive a Pearl from Willy during 14 days after filling the Crab Pond fully, which is not mentioned on the wiki currently. Fish Pond. Pearl and Crab pages need to have the time limit added. I'll probably only Reference the code on Crab page though.

Hi Margotbean. Regarding the wiki Children page / Stages, I added to the Stage 2 area that the interaction of tossing the stage 2 child while sleeping (that created a spinning caterpillar effect) was actually removed in version 1.4, this based on information I had found on the SDV reddit and based on my own game play. I remember being able to do this but it hasn't been possible since 1.4, if you want to look into adding a code for it.
2) Fiddlehead Fern is a Vegetable which is not accepted in Pierre's Prime Produce Special Order, unlike any other vegetable. (due to being a foraged item which that SO excludes). A note on Quests page under that SO's requirements section: (except Fiddlehead Fern).
[Stage 2

Tossing the child while sleeping for a humorous animation was removed in v1.4]. Thankyou,  [[User:Carpediem|Carpediem]] ([[User talk:Carpediem|talk]]) 21:15, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
:Yes, I saw that, I've been trying to research it in the game code for about 3 hours. Since I don't have the decompiled v1.3 code, it's been a little tricky. 😏 I have seen the animation in-game however, and I can see that it no longer exists in v1.5. I'm going to add a note to the "History" section of [[Children]] and remove the entry under "Stage 2" altogether. Thanks! == Adding new topic ==
3) Tool pages don't mention enchantments consistently. Even if doubling up on full section on all the pages isn't worth it, nothing stops it from being practically empty, containing just a link, like [[Axes#Energy Cost|Energy Cost]] is. Enchantments ''are'' a major endgame mechanic, having quick access to the info while viewing tools is fairly useful. [[User:BridgeSeller|BridgeSeller]] ([[User talk:BridgeSeller|talk]]) 12:35, 31 August 2026 (UTC)

Margotbean, I tried to add a topic here to let you know about an issue, but I got an error instead. "Error: This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Mass edit by new user."
:Yes to #1, please proceed. I've added a note for #2 to the Quests page already. For #3, I think we can potentially mention enchantments, but I don't like the idea of adding another heading and link to every tool page. Mentioning enchantments in the same sentence as upgrades at the blacksmith might be better (or immediately after the blacksmith sentence). But, then the Pans page has a different format than the other tools; I think maybe changing the heading from "Grades of Pan" to "Upgrades" and then explaining that they can be upgraded at the blacksmith or enchanted before presenting the table of upgrades might work for that page.

Please let me know what I can do to send the info to you. Thanks, Meredith [[User:Rogue.toast|Rogue.toast]] ([[User talk:Rogue.toast|talk]]) 09:40, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
Specific enchantments that apply to that tool are mentioned on at least some tool pages already; I think users at the end-game stage already know what they are, so perhaps we don't need to make any changes at all. Let's open the discussion for further comment to other editors. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 16:25, 31 August 2026 (UTC)
:::Fish Pond page is protected, so you'd have to add that one, I've done the other two.
:::For tool enchantments, I think mentioning it in initial description is a viable alternative, will probably look better that way. Separate line from blacksmith, immediately after, yeah, it's different enough. For Pans... Can't we just add the same structure as the other pages? Well, most. Pickaxes have a bit different structure from Axes, Hoes and WCans, but those three just have the line "The X may be upgraded at the [[Blacksmith]].  The cost and resource requirements for each upgrade are shown in the table below." which fits the theme and explains everything without having to change up other sections. The line after can give brief explanation of "Upgraded pans have better chances to get items (gotta rework this line but you get the idea)".
:::4) Oh yeah, Blacksmith's Upgrade Tools section needs to be updated to mention Pans, just "and Pans" a few times + a line explaining what upgraded pans do better like for other tools. [[User:BridgeSeller|BridgeSeller]] ([[User talk:BridgeSeller|talk]]) 12:45, 1 September 2026 (UTC)

:Hi Meredith! I'm sorry you had trouble adding info to the wiki, it was the anti-vandalism mechanisms in place. I can see the text of the message you tried to send me. I'll do my best to add it to the page exactly as you wrote it. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 15:33, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
::::Returning to this proposal, given that it's been a week with no activity from other editors, which does seem the norm.
::::To clarify, the only point not resolved is 3), about adding a line about Enchantments to tool pages. [[Axes]], [[Hoes]], [[Pickaxes]], [[Watering Cans]], and [[Pans]] have one page each for five total, while [[Tools#Fishing Poles|Fishing Poles]] have another five separate pages. I do think your idea of making it a single line after Blacksmith mention is more viable than an empty section, so:
::::"The [Tool] can be [[Forge#Tool enchantments|enchanted]] at the Forge at the cost of one {{Name|Prismatic Shard|class=inline}} and 20 {{Name|Cinder Shard|class=inline}}s." That, or "The [Tool] can be given a random [[Forge#Tool enchantments|enchantment]] at the Forge." Any thoughts? The first one is a bit flashy and spoiler-y.
::::5) I'll also standardize Pans and Pickaxe article while at it. Pans are missing the usual line of "It can be upgraded at the Blacksmith. The cost and resource requirements for each upgrade are shown in the table below. Updraged versions of the Pan yield more items from panning while also having higher chance to spawn another panning spot." in the header, probably from the times it wasn't upgradeable. Pickaxe just has that line at Grades of Pickaxe section instead of the header. Not a problem per se, but it's different for no reason, I'll move it to the header.
:::: I'm interested to see what you think about the subject at hand. [[User:BridgeSeller|BridgeSeller]] ([[User talk:BridgeSeller|talk]]) 19:37, 8 September 2026 (UTC)
:::::Definitely "The [Tool] can be given a random [[Forge#Tool enchantments|enchantment]] at the Forge." over the flashier version! The edits you propose in #5 also seem fine, please proceed. Thank you, [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 00:17, 9 September 2026 (UTC)

==No History on Rusty Sword==
1) There's an interaction between Special Orders and Journal which would serve a nice Trivia point. Due to the fact Special Orders check if a copy already exists in Journal before spawning one on SO Board on Monday (to avoid overlaps), the player can avoid repeating certain Orders (thus getting more of preferable ones) by keeping them completed in their Journal without redeeming the reward. It's quite useful in filtering unnecessary Orders.
Hello Margotbean! I've noticed that [[Rusty Sword]] doesn't have a history. I didn't want to add myself as I don't know about histories! Thank you! [[User:Peaw|Peaw]] ([[User talk:Peaw|talk]]) 11:02, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
:Hello Peaw! Thank you for updating all languages with the correct name for the Ossified Blade in TR!!!! As for page history, it's pretty safe to assume that if there is no history section, the item was introduced in v1.0. You can add a history section to those pages if you like, any time. == Updated Modding:Player Guide/Getting Started - Modgroup instructions for Mac users ==
2) Shop pages generally don't note interactions with various festivals properly. To clarify: something like [[Carpenter's Shop]] has a note "The shop is also closed on all festival days." It's inaccurate, as the shop is open on festivals which occur late in the day (Midnight Jellies & alike) and festivals where time continues to pass normally like Desert Festival. I'm planning to add a note on that to shops, though I'm planning to double-check it in-game  beforehand to make sure they do function the same way, who knows.

Hi, Margotbean,
2.5) Speaking of [[Shop Schedules]], it's missing some of newer festivals like Trout Derby. Once again, I'll update it with the missing names after checking. Also, Travelling Cart is available on Night Market and Desert Festival - add to Additional Notes part.

I tried to edit the table in the "Can I Have Different Mod Groups" section, but received an error that I was adding external links. I didn't add any new links, I was only updating the text instructions. The current instructions are incorrect. Querying established members of the SDV Discord, I learned that the mod group command for Mac users "didn't work."
3) Current [[Animals#Pets|Pets]] description states the pet is not adopted if the cutscene is skipped, yet 1.6 patch notes state that "You can now skip the pet adoption scene, which causes you to adopt the pet." It's adopted with a default name which is already noted above.

I was able to successfully create multiple mod groups on my Mac, so I thought an edit to the Wiki would be helpful.
4) [[Blacksmith]]'s Upgrade Tools section needs to be updated to mention Pans, just "and Pans" a few times + a line explaining what upgraded pans do better like for other tools.

I can't add my attempted edits here as I receive the same error for external links. ;)
I'm interested to see what you think about these changes. [[User:BridgeSeller|BridgeSeller]] ([[User talk:BridgeSeller|talk]]) 14:17, 6 September 2026 (UTC)

Thanks, Meredith
: #1 sounds like a helpful tip, #2 sounds like an unfinished thought, please report back after you are sure of the facts, #2.5 sounds good, #3 sounds like everyone else forgot to update the page, please proceed, #4 sounds good. == Archived discussions ==
:: I have checked the in-game behavior and it's consistent with Shop Schedules page. Four festivals (Desert Festival, Trout Derby, SquidFest and Night Market) have everything open due to being freely entered-and-exited, two (Dance of the Moonlight Jellies and Spirit's Eve) have everything open due to being extremely late in the day. I will be updating Shop Schedules page and Festivals page to note that. (Note that I will rearrange previously existing lines to have these four/two festivals in chronological order above. It just makes sense + will be consistent across the pages).
:: Another point is updating the shops. Adventurer's Guild, Blacksmith, Carpenter's Shop, Fish Shop, Harvey's Clinic, JojaMart, Marnie's Ranch, Pierre's General Store, and The Stardrop Saloon are relevant shops which close on all festivals except for the six mentioned above. Something simple like "The shop is closed on all festival days, with exception of Desert Festival, Trout Derby, SquidFest and Night Market, as well as Dance of the Moonlight Jellies and Spirit's Eve" could work. I don't think there's a point in explaining 'why' these six, as the info is present on both Festival and Shop Schedule pages.
:: This line would just be added to the header/elsewhere where it fits depending on the page structure. Might be adjusted in cases like Fish Shop not being accessible during DMJ. I think that's all there is to it, do tell what you think. [[User:BridgeSeller|BridgeSeller]] ([[User talk:BridgeSeller|talk]]) 14:17, 8 September 2026 (UTC)

I was looking at archived discussions and I saw this: [[User talk:Margotbean/Archive_2021_Feb_-_Dec#You_are_abusing_your_admin.27s_right|Admins rights abusing]] and I’m wondering what was happening, it’s ok if it’s confidential or anything, just seems very interesting and, (it took me a bit to think of this word) peculiar. ==Wallet Navbox==
== Requesting Review for Revision 194269 of [[Friendship]] ==
Hello Margotbean! I thought of a navbox for [[Wallet]] items. What do you think? I can create one right away if you also approve. Thank you! [[User:Peaw|Peaw]] ([[User talk:Peaw|talk]]) 21:19, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
''Maybe I should have posted this on Admin Noticeboard? I'm not really sure.''
:There are so few discussions about templates, anywhere is fine. Here on my talk page is good. 👍
:It's funny, I was just looking at [[:Category:Special items]] a couple of days ago and thinking "Should I make a navbox for these?" The problem is, if we break "special items" up into sub-categories (like "wallet items"), then we have to change the category on the page, and I can't accurately translate "Wallet items" in all 12 languages. If we made a "Special Items" navbox, then the category could stay the same, but clicking on "Category:Special items" accomplishes the same goal.
:So, translating the categories is the problem with making a navbox. If you just make a "Wallet items" navbox, then the category has to be "Wallet items" for all those items' pages, and it has to be translated in 12 languages. It would be nice to do in only English & Turkish, but I can't do that. I'm desperately trying to keep all 12 language wikis somewhat the same. It's a losing battle, but I have to keep trying.
:I'm open to any solutions you have! And, as always, I admire your energy and commitment to making the wiki better. It's truly impressive! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 11:11, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
::I think you are right then. Clicking on the category name - clicking on the navbox, same things! I also didn't think about wallet items being a "Special item" and we would have to create a Special items navbox, instead of just wallet items navbox. Thank you for answering! == Stardew Valley Fair ==
Hello there! I just edited the [[Friendship]] page, but it has been (automatically?) reverted. It seems that this happened because I did not make an edit proposal beforehand. I was not aware of this practice. Sorry about that!
Look, I get the wording I added wasn't perfect, but the way it is currently suggests that the fortune-teller booth can only be interacted with once per save file. Any ideas as to a way to clarify this? [[User:Quartia|Quartia]] ([[User talk:Quartia|talk]]) 18:22, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
:I would ask what makes you think the fortune teller is different from any of the other attractions in the list? Each can be played or interacted with each year. There's nothing to indicate the fortune teller is any different. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:35, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
::I added "this year" to the description. I think this is a good way to clarify your question with minimal intrusion. [[User:IBugOne|IBugOne]] ([[User talk:IBugOne|talk]]) 18:42, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
:::Ah, I see, it's the "Go away, kid" part that's the issue. Well, the other attractions don't do that, do they? Thanks for the clarification! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:46, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
::::That's exactly why I thought that, yes. This is a perfect solution, clarifies without making the wording any worse.. [[User:Quartia|Quartia]] ([[User talk:Quartia|talk]]) 19:55, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

== Trivia ==
I tried to rewrite the page because several kinds of information are currently mixed together at the same hierarchy level under #friendship_mechanics, which is a very broad umbrella term that covers just about everything related to friendship. The section covers many of the ways the game can change friendship points, but it is not organized in a way that focuses on how the player actually interacts with the system.
How do you add a trivia/bug section to a page? There are some things that I notice and can't add [[User:DragonGwen|DragonGwen]] ([[User talk:DragonGwen|talk]]) 16:40, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
:Hello DragonGwen! I did some experimenting, and the easiest thing is to switch to "Desktop" view first. It's not so easy to add a section using mobile view. The link is at the very bottom of the page.
:After that, "Edit" the page using the link at the top right, then type <code><nowiki>==Trivia==</nowiki></code> to create the section. Add your text, then click the "Show preview" button at the bottom. Once you're satisfied with your edits, click the "Save changes" button.
:After that, you can click the link at the very bottom of the page to go back to "Mobile" view, if you like. Hope this helps! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 14:29, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

== Artisan sell prices for Juice, Wine, and Roe ==
Therefore, I broke the page down into several top-level sections:
# What is Friendship and how to read it.
# How to gain (or lose) friendship.
# What are the benefits of maintaining high friendship.
# How gifts work.

Hey, I've been intending to edit [[Template:Infobox]] to make the Artisan prices for [[Wine]], [[Juice]], and [[Aged Roe]] display prices relative to the base [[Fruits|Fruit]] / [[Vegetables|Vegetable]] / [[Roe]] price instead of the somewhat redundant (1.4 × Base [Item] Price) they use currently, simplifying the calculation a bit.

Would that be okay, or is that one of these changes I should hold off on? - [[User:Starfarmer|Starfarmer]] ([[User talk:Starfarmer|talk]]) 18:51, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
I hoped that giving the page clearer sections could also help other editors find the appropriate place to add more information.
:Because the change would require cascading changes to a very large template in 12 languages, and it's based on a personal preference, that would be one of those changes that I must say no to. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:56, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
::The change itself is only 3 lines, I could manually implement it in other language versions myself if necessary. - [[User:Starfarmer|Starfarmer]] ([[User talk:Starfarmer|talk]]) 19:15, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
:::As I said above, it's also based on personal preference, so "no". I'm sorry. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 19:47, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
::::I'm not sure I understand, is it not better to reduce the amount of required calculations on the user's part? - [[User:Starfarmer|Starfarmer]] ([[User talk:Starfarmer|talk]]) 20:46, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
:::::The game multiplies the value of the finished product by 1.4 for all artisan goods, and the wiki reflects that. It's more helpful to understand how the game works under the hood than to do simple arithmetic that could actually be considered misleading to some folks. You're actually talking me into changing the [[Aged Roe]] page now... [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 20:55, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
::::::Isn't that already indicated by "Artisan (+40%)" right on top? That's why I said listing the price as "1.4 ×" feels redundant, that is already communicated by the +40% right above it. - [[User:Starfarmer|Starfarmer]] ([[User talk:Starfarmer|talk]]) 21:56, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

I tried to remove only repetitive content from the page while adding a few minor remarks during the process. I also changed 2nd-person phrasing to 3rd-person wherever I could.

:It's still there, isn't it? I simply added that you can also wait to re-enter the building to purchase one Junimo Chest at a time, and that immediately leaving and re-entering is one possibility, but players can also wait if they want to. They don't ''have to'' immediately leave and re-enter to purchase one at a time. Are you unsatisfied with how it reads now? == Fish Pond icons ==
== You believe it's a bug? ==

I do not understand, why was my edit to the [[Fish Pond]] article reverted? It was unequivocally an improvement, it improved the table's readability. - [[User:Starfarmer|Starfarmer]] ([[User talk:Starfarmer|talk]])
The thing about opening containers at the blacksmith I mean.
:The change has been discussed at length in the past and rejected. You must try to remember that changes made to the English wiki require cascading changes to 11 other language wikis. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:11, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
I don't think that is the case. Before I got my Treasure Appraisal Guide I did a little bit of testing. I had 36 Artifact Troves and I split them into stacks of 6, 10 and 20. Then I got 9 new ones and checked what is inside. After that I started stacking them with the old ones starting with 6, then 10 and finally 20, after which I got the book. But no matter which stack I picked the contents were very similar. As another example I will use Golden Coconuts. When I had 1 and opened it I got a Fossilized Skull, then when I opened another 1 I got the same. But after stacking these 2, 1st I got the Fossilized Skull again, but the 2nd gave me a Golden Helmet.
::Why has it been rejected? It makes the table much more readable. "Other language versions will be outdated" is not a reason to stop updating and improving the English wiki. It simply means the other language versions will need to be updated later. - [[User:Starfarmer|Starfarmer]] ([[User talk:Starfarmer|talk]]) 18:16, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
:::I'm afraid that's not how it works. Changes which prevent proper alphabetical sorting in other languages are not good changes, and making things excessively difficult for other languages is not very nice. If you read [[Help:Editing]], it may assist you in discussing large-scale changes ''before'' making them so as to avoid reversions like this one.
:::Please remember that you can create customized versions of pages in your user space, as opposed to changing the wiki for everyone. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:22, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
::::How do they prevent alphabetical sorting? Don't file name match item names in other languages too? - [[User:Starfarmer|Starfarmer]] ([[User talk:Starfarmer|talk]]) 18:27, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
:::::You could answer that question yourself, if you simply look at any page containing images in another language. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 18:32, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
::::::Isn't that easily prevented by putting "data-sort-value" in front of every entry? - [[User:Starfarmer|Starfarmer]] ([[User talk:Starfarmer|talk]]) 19:11, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
:::::::That would be the solution, but I wouldn't describe a change to 60-70 fish x 12 languages x 2 tables (produce & quests) as "easy". Again I refer you to your [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Namespaces#User user space], where you can create pages with the formatting you want, without causing literally thousands of cascading changes. == Editing the Egg Festival ==
So I think the contents work pretty much like the Prize Machine i.e. it's like a deck of cards and you always keep getting the card on top. BUT I believe there is another script which prevents the contents of these containers to be too samey. And this script likely tracks your save file on how many of these containers you currently have in your possession in total. And so if the contents become too repetitive for certain items it adds more variation. This is likely to prevent annoying situations like you have 100 Geode's to open and a 3rd of them gives you stones. --Unsigned comment by [[User:Victor Drunkenstein|Victor Drunkenstein]] 29 September 2026

== Adding edits to the saloon ==
I decided to put this in your talk page because I wasn't sure what the best wording would be. Currently, Leo's Like's states "All Universal Likes (except Beer, Coffee, Mead, Pale Ale, Piña Colada, Wine, and Cooking other than Bread, Fried Egg, Poi, Mango Sticky Rice, & Triple Shot Espresso)". This is difficult to parse and, when parsed correctly, is incorrect. The 5 listed cooking items are under a double negative, suggesting Leo likes them. However, the only one that Leo actually likes is Mango Sticky Rice. Bread+Fried Egg are Universal Neutrals (with Leo following in that trend), Poi is a Leo-loved, and Triple Shot Espresso is a Leo-hated.

Hi Margotbean is it ok if I add details to the Saloon page about the private room that alex takes you to on his tenth heart event [[User:Danimal|Danimal]] ([[User talk:Danimal|talk]]) 17:41, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
I think it would make more sense to word it either as "All Universal Likes (except Beer, Coffee, Mead, Pale Ale, Piña Colada, Wine, and Cooking)" (recognizing that this technically says that Mango Sticky Rice isn't liked but then gets overwritten by the explicit mention below) or as "All Universal Likes (except Beer, Coffee, Mead, Pale Ale, Piña Colada, Wine, and Cooking other than Mango Sticky Rice)" (recognizing that this makes Mango Sticky Rice show up twice semi-redundantly). I'm biased towards the first one personally, though I see that you previously kept Mango Sticky Rice on the list in revision 120215. [[User:CandyNim|CandyNim]] ([[User talk:CandyNim|talk]]) 19:50, 16 October 2026 (UTC)
:It would be good as a brief trivia item (with a link to Alex's 10-heart event), but otherwise the room isn't used and doesn't have any secrets, so I don't think there's a point to making the page longer with a lot of details. Even the Pinky Lemon statue has only one sentence.
:Hello! Yes, the gift tastes are difficult to parse mentally, but they all suffer from the same issues. A double negative in these cases doesn't mean the two cancel each other, it simply means the villager feels differently about the item, possibly they feel a way that's unspecified in that particular section of their page. So, as a player, you cannot necessarily get the whole picture of their gift preferences unless you check all sections (loved/liked, etc). It's just the complex nature of gifting. [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 20:47, 16 October 2026 (UTC)
:Are you the one who asked me how to add a section on mobile? If so, it's not easy unless you temporarily switch to "Desktop" view (link at the very bottom of the page). Then you can add a "Trivia" section, and a sentence stating that Alex's 10-heart event takes place there, if you wish. Good luck! [[User:Margotbean|margotbean]] ([[User talk:Margotbean|talk]]) 17:51, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
:: If I simplify the sentence by removing a bunch of things, the statement "Leo likes All Universal Likes (except Cooking other than Bread)" communicates to me that Bread is something he likes, rather than saying that "Bread is a universal neutral so it was never part of the category of Universal Likes in the first place". I think the two negatives absolutely cancel themselves out grammatically, and including things in that other-than section that he doesn't like makes it less informative. I feel like removing bread/fried egg/poi/triple shot espresso makes it strictly less confusing and more informative. This list of items already exists in his Dislike section where it goes "All Cooked Dishes (other than Bread, Fried Egg, Mango Sticky Rice, Poi, & Triple Shot Espresso)" which is correct, as all 5 of those items are not disliked.
:: Again I'm going to use Bread as the example. Is there any benefit to including it in the Likes sentence? A new user reading the Leo page would see Bread mentioned as an exception to the Dislike, and as an exception to the exception of the Universal Likes. It is already *currently* true that the way to find out whether Leo likes Bread is by checking the Universal Dislikes (or the bread page specifically), but by including it on the list of exceptions just adds a new way to misread it. Trimming down the list to only include Mango Sticky Rice makes it flow substantially better and removes the possibility of misreading. Sure, gift preferences are complicated. But the current wording is needlessly complicated, and could be made simpler via either of the wordings I mentioned above without losing any accuracy (and in my opinion, gaining accuracy, as you're no longer supposed to divine that this is a canceled-double negative for only 1 of the 5 things on the list, and the other 4 things simply badly worded). Standardization of sources in items pages

Usually the fisrt paragraph in any item page is where it can be obtained, some items only have 1 source while other have 10+, those with many sources result in a vey confusing and slow to read paragraph making it very hard to find each specific source. In some pages, the sources are in a list from (e.g. Red Mushroom), while others are not (e.g. Emerald). I think the list format is much better and, in my opinion, should be the standard for items with many sources. I am open to work on this standardization if you agree with me Klytos (talk) 18:36, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

My goodness, you do like to jump from one project to another! In this case, items with few sources are listed in paragraph form, and when the paragraph gets too long or cumbersome, a list format can be adopted. There is no need to apply a standard to all pages without regard to content! Thank you, margotbean (talk) 19:06, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

Redirect pages

Hello Margotbean! I recently noticed that the farm maps redirect pages were really inconsistent, you could be redirected to the beach farm accesing "Beach Farm" but not "Beach Farm Map", and you couldn't be redirected to the hilltop farm accesing "Hiltop Farm", only "Hilltop Farm Map". In this example, some farm maps were only redirected if the page had "Map" in it and some if it didn't. To fix that I added redirect pages for all farm types with both "Map" in the title and not, adding the missing ones, only to be reverted by you.

Presented my argument could you please give a second thought on the pages? Maybe leaving only the ones without "Map", or with it, you decide. Thank you for your time Klytos (talk) 22:48, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Removed note on Crab Pot page.

You removed a note on the crab pot page without proper justification. There is no possible way to cite the precise amount of time taken, as it is highly variable depending on various ingame conditions.

I will restore it in 24 hours if you don't have a compelling reason not to.

The entire wiki's citation method needs a serious rework.

DemiserofD (talk) 21:18, 11 February 2026 (UTC)

The note consisted of advice-giving and was inappropriate to add in the first place. margotbean (talk) 02:21, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Asking Questions

Hello, this is Jae Yoon Park.

I have a question to you.

On March 5th, 2025, Magma Sparker(Korean Page) was changed by you, and I tried to contact to you for a reason why it was changed.

To be exact, just to hear the reason. No anger, no conflict, not seeking fights.

Just asking questions.

Since I really love this game so I could give some hands for wiki pages especially Korean page.

But my work was not applied some works. Like changing gif file to none.

Was it the file size taking too much on it? or was it un nessesary for doing it? or was it some reason that needed to be change because of bug?

If you change some work without saying, I don't know which one should I change, improve or cautionus other pages.

With sincerely, Jae Yoon Park.

In case of lost contact, here's my email number for it, jaeyoonpark.bba@gmail.com

xhaktm1226 (talk) 21:45, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

Hello! Your change was reverted because it was inconsistent with the other monsters pages. The Magma Sparker page has an animated .gif for the Magma Sparker, and the variations use Template:Name, with static .png files.
Going forward, just look at similar pages within a type (other monsters, other crops, other trees, etc.) to know how they should all look, and keep them consistent with each other. Thanks, margotbean (talk) 05:04, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

==

Hello, margotbean, I have read your message, Thank you!

seeing other pages, and now I knew I should be careful with the consistency with other pages. Thank you for your kind explanation.

In my opinion, it would be nice to have a .gif file, but I agree your words with the consistency.

Once, I start editing other things, I might ask to you a lot of things to you or other admins for asking question.

it would be tiring some, but I would love to help.

Thank you, margotbean.

Removed Meowmere info

Please explain why you reverted my edit to the Meowmere page. Not only did you remove information with no explanation, as though it were somehow self-evident why it should be removed, you also marked it as a minor edit, even though removal of information is not supposed to be labeled as a minor edit. -Jatopian (talk|contribs) 03:04, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

Hello! The reasons the edit was reverted are:
  1. There is no punctuation, making the sentence a runon sentence
  2. The item has no relationship to the trivia bullet point it was added to
  3. The level of detail in describing the projectiles is excessive for the SDV wiki
As for why the reversion was marked as minor: Mediawiki did that automatically. We are upgrading the mediawiki version, which should correct the problem. margotbean (talk) 17:24, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

Permission as a regular user

Hi, I finished translation of the section "Fish size and quality" from English to German. The wiki won't allow me to publish it, because the edit size is too big: "Mass edit by new user". I can't post it on my user page either for preview. Thanks -- Vad (talk) 21:34, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

Hello, please read Help:Editing#New Editor Restriction. Thank you, margotbean (talk) 00:05, 7 March 2026 (UTC)

Wild Trees

The Mossy Seed explicitly refers to what the wiki currently has named "Green Rain Trees" as "Wild Trees." Since this is the canonical name for the trees, why was the page "Wild Tree" deleted? --NotAHamster (talk) 18:14, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Ah I see, Tree Fertiliser also refers to all non-fruit trees as "wild," and this would overload the terms. Still, while Green Rain Tree is appropriately descriptive it's still an odd discrepancy where you might come to the wiki looking for information on "wild trees" but then find that this term doesn't exist here. Should a redirect/disambiguation page not be created? --NotAHamster (talk) 17:13, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

Enchantment Details

My edits (new account, CouldBeAHamster, didn't remember this username until after making those edits) adding information on enchantments to the watering can page are not adding any unnecessary detail, and information on tool upgrades is already duplicated from the Blacksmith page. For consistency shouldn't each tool page either not contain that information (about tool upgrades and prices) covered by the Blacksmith page, or also cover the information about which enchantments can be applied to it which is only present on the Forge page?

Regardless, there should surely be at least a reference to the Forge's enchantment functionality in the opening paragraphs informing a viewer that each tool can be enchanted at the forge, so that one is informed about all pertinent information about a tool on its page. --NotAHamster (talk) 18:14, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Seaweed edit

Greetings, I have a question about your partial removal of my edit on the Seaweed page. BridgeSeller (talk) 09:35, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

Inconsistent formatting for regrowable crops

Hi margotbean, for regrowable crop pages, such as the Ancient Fruit page, or the Strawberry page, or the Cranberries page, the formatting in the opening sentence is inconsistent. For example, the Ancient Fruit page reads "Thereafter, the mature plant yields another Ancient Fruit every 7 days", whereas the Strawberry page does not include a sentence about regrowability, whereas the Cranberries page includes this information after a comma, phrased as "and keeps producing fruit every 5 days after maturity."

I believe the wiki should have some consistency here. I'm happy to agree on a format, and then it can be changed for every regrowable crop page. Thanks, Swift To The Core (talk) 01:32, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

That sounds like a good idea. You can choose the formatting. Have a think about what would sound best, and then go for it. Thank you! margotbean (talk) 19:41, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

Undoing edits

PeculiarFairies (talk) 19:21, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

Fish capitalization

I'm sorry, what do you mean by "Most pages list the fish in lowercase"? From what I can tell by searching, say, Anchovy, dominant majority of mentions are capitalized. The main Fish page (or Fishing) has no lowercase fish names from what I can tell. Please. BridgeSeller (talk) 20:59, 4 April 2026 (UTC)

Hello! I looked at the Quests section of several pages (Carp, Albacore, Eel, Pufferfish, Catfish) and saw them in lowercase. I thus concluded that you were introducing inconsistency.
If you wish to make a complete survey of capitalization on fish pages, and then introduce complete consistency, you are welcome to do so. However, it probably won't stay "perfect" and will take more time than it's worth. It's up to you, with my blessings. margotbean (talk) 00:25, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
I do plan to do so then. From Pufferfish to Oyster.
a) Every mention of a fish as an item will be capitalized (most, practically all already are). I will obviously not modify the direct quotes or descriptions from the game. Mostly just affects the "Quest" section.
b) "Map" section: the wording used will be "The (fish) can be found ..." (keeping as is, adding "The" if it's missing). Some fish don't have "The" there, but most do, and I think it fits the species-wide description.
c) I'll be adding "to be caught" to the Fishing lines in the "Quest" section. As it is written now, the same as Item Delivery quest, it's ambiguous and doesn't state the fish actually have to be caught for the quest. Aquatic Overpopulation, on the other hand, mentions it outright and has the same quest mechanics in-game. Makes it more clear as a whole. See Largemouth Bass#Quests for an example.
Since the new user mass-edit restriction applies to talk pages as well for some reason, this one will be split. BridgeSeller (talk) 16:46, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
d) For fish it applies to, "It/(fish name) can also randomly be found in Garbage Cans during (seasons), or at the Traveling Cart for (price).". Mix-and-match depending on the other methods of acquisition, but what can you do? (Yes, this part is already present for most fish, but not all.)
Normally I wouldn't describe standardization in such details, but it seems to be a good idea in this case, such as too prevent ~70 edits from being reverted. If you have any notes on the changes above or your own ideas on which standards should be introduced, please voice them here. I'll be moving on with the changes after receiving your feedback or in 2-3 days regardless.
Sidenote: I would appreciate a response to the Seaweed section-question above. BridgeSeller (talk) 16:48, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
All sounds fine, thank you for the note (x2)! As for seaweed, how is it that the Training Rod cannot catch anchovy, sardine, or herring on sunny days? margotbean (talk) 20:29, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
While my original edit lacked the fact it was specific to Summer days, I corrected it once I noticed I missed it. BridgeSeller (talk) 21:49, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

Add Redirects for "Seed Spots" and "Artifact Spots".

I've noticed that most of the Stardew Valley Expanded Wiki uses "Artifact Spots" instead of "Artifact Spot". Would it be wiser to redirect it on the main wiki, or should it just be changed on the SVE Wiki? Makerman991 (talk) 01:14, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

Hello! I dislike redirects because they confuse translators and because people invariably link to the redirect instead of the actual page. (Depending on the redirect, this may be a little or wildly inappropriate.) So, no redirects on the main wiki, thanks! margotbean (talk) 03:37, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

Infoboxes for Desert Trader Furniture

Hi, I've noticed that the infoboxes on pages for furniture that can be purchased from the Desert Trader, such as Dark Piano, Birch Double Bed, or Butterfly Hutch do not include the price of these items in the infobox, and only have it hidden within the text of the page where it is more difficult to read. However, other pages like the Warp Totem: Desert include the price in a format of "Desert Trader for Iridium Bar (10)"

I propose this should be the standard for all items purchased from the Desert Trader. This formatting already applies to Island Trader furniture items, such as the Tropical TV and the Tropical Double Bed. I would be happy to make the changes, just let me know what you think. Swift To The Core (talk) 06:01, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Yes, fine idea! margotbean (talk) 07:00, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Island Trader Icon

Hi margotbean (again!), I was just going through the Island Trader pages and trying to create some consistency in the Source(s) section of the infoboxes, because some had a little icon for the Island Trader and some did not.

Have a look at the Sources section on the Banana Pudding page and compare it to the Deluxe Retaining Soil page. One has the little Island Trader icon, and one doesn't. I was going through and removing the icon for pages that had it, but now that I've had a moment to think about this, I actually think it looks better with the little icon.

Let me know what you think, because I was thinking perhaps every page could include this icon, and it might even be nice to have a little icon for the Desert Trader item pages as well. Thanks, Swift To The Core (talk) 12:18, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Hello again! I think the icon looks better too. The Desert Trader icon is larger, and may run into the icon for the trade item (vertically); try it out and see if you like it. margotbean (talk) 12:46, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Bookseller Face Icon

Hi margotbean, I apologise for uploading the Bookseller Face Icon without explaining why it was uploaded. I put it in the infoboxes for all of the book pages in the Source section next to the word "Bookseller". I thought it looked quite nice, just wondering your thoughts on this. Swift To The Core (talk) 15:29, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Island Trader find-and-replace

Hi margotbean, could you please do a find and replace across the wiki, turning " Island Trader" into " Island Trader" as I have recently learned it is the better formatting option. Thanks! Swift To The Core (talk) 05:37, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

Catalogue Trivia

Hi margotbean! Would it be appropriate to include the piece of trivia present on the Catalogue page, ie "This is one of the few items in the game that is spelled using British English instead of American English (where the -ue ending would be dropped, becoming catalog)." on all catalogue pages, such as the Trash Catalogue and the Retro Catalogue, or is it best just left exclusively on the basic Catalogue page as it is? Thanks! Swift To The Core (talk) 12:01, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

The trivia could probably be removed from the existing page. margotbean (talk) 23:26, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

Villagers Schedule Formatting

Hey Margotbean! Recently while playing I checked the schedule from the villagers a bit more often and it got a bit confusing sometimes to either check for the season first and then for the day, and on some pages there isn't a season indicator first but rather the specific days. Is there a reason for this? If there isn't, I would like to format it in a way, that every schedule page for the villagers is the same. I do like the format with the seasons first and then sort it. Greetings! Milaral (talk) 21:40, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

Hello! Villagers whose schedules vary by season have seasonal headings, villagers whose schedules don't vary by season have all green headings. margotbean (talk) 23:25, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the Info! I'll do the same format on the german pages then, they need to be updated nonetheless. Milaral (talk) 07:51, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
The German wiki could use some loving attention! margotbean (talk) 11:51, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

Additional Tool Resource

Howdy! I'd like to respectfully request that my Stardew farm planning tool be considered for listing among the others on Stardew Valley Wiki#Resources.

You can access and evaluate it here: StardewPlan.com -- Please feel free to remove the link after viewing as this is not intended to be spam. Happy to answer any questions! --Yooks (talk) 07:10, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

Catalogue furniture page consistency

Hi margotbean! I've noticed an inconsistency across furniture item pages. Some pages (like Wizard Table) include the 0g cost in the opening line, while others (like Wizard Bed) don't. Since the majority of pages include the cost, I believe that's the correct standard. Could you please do the following text replacements to standardise the catalogue furniture pages?

[[furniture]] available from the [[Wizard Catalogue]]. → [[furniture]] available from the [[Wizard Catalogue]] for {{Price|0}}.
[[furniture]] available from the [[Joja Furniture Catalogue]]. → [[furniture]] available from the [[Joja Furniture Catalogue]] for {{Price|0}}.
[[furniture]] available from the [[Junimo Catalogue]]. → [[furniture]] available from the [[Junimo Catalogue]] for {{Price|0}}.
[[furniture]] available from the [[Retro Catalogue]]. → [[furniture]] available from the [[Retro Catalogue]] for {{Price|0}}.

Thanks! Swift To The Core (talk) 14:09, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

Ingredients Short List not updated

Hi margotbean, I'm not sure how high of a priority this is, but the IngredientsShortList on your user page (which I am unable to edit, because it is not my user page) is out of date and does not include any of the new required ingredients for crafting recipes, cooking recipes, and story quests as of 1.6.

I'm not sure if this would be an important problem with the wiki, since that page probably isn't very known about anyway, but I thought I would flag it to you regardless! Thanks, Swift To The Core (talk) 05:57, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

Autopetter from Dangerous Dust Sprite

I’m currently playing the game and was using the dangerous mines to complete my monster slayer goal, while killing 3 dust sprites, one dropped an autopetter, I came onto here to see if that has been noted as a mob drop for dangerous dust sprites and it has not. If you need evidence, I have a video of it dropping.

I play on the Nintendo Switch Lite, and have it updated to the newest version. I’ve never gotten an autopetter outside of the skull caverns or joja so I think it’s worth noting, however I’m not sure exactly how rare it is. Zmpb123 (talk) 02:54, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

That's a special drop from a special monster, see The Mines#Special Items. margotbean (talk) 12:54, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

Challenge bait and any Legendry Fish II

Brother why did you reverse it back to Legendry ? The Wiki itself is saying they're from the Legendry II type (if you seen Fishing page) and you make it back to Legendry ? Just say it to me why? AhmedGR (talk) 10:51, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

Lengendary Fish II is not an actual in-game title, it's a heading someone came up with for the fish page. The link takes users to the correct section, so it's fine. Also, it's "Legendary", you keep forgetting the "a". Thanks for your comment, margotbean (talk) 15:31, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

Legendary Fish

Ok, am so Sorry about my Rudeness and I won't do it again if it hurts but can you explain why in the wiki it says that you can catch legendary fish only once ? Like there is no exceptions about using challenge bait and if you can edit it to add this exception AhmedGR (talk) 10:13, 14 May 2026 (UTC)

I accept your apology, thanks. It's true, you can catch legendary fish only once. You may reel in 3 fish at one time by using challenge bait, but you can only hook and reel in (i.e., catch) a legendary fish one time. margotbean (talk) 14:09, 14 May 2026 (UTC)

Fish pages

Respectfully, BridgeSeller (talk) 00:18, 15 May 2026 (UTC)

Sorry, I was about to revert that myself; in addition to what you said in your edit summary, I didn't realize I should make a bug report first. Thanks for fixing that, and sorry again! I'll be more cautious in the future. Ashen (talk) 16:15, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

No harm done, thanks for your comment! margotbean (talk) 16:52, 18 May 2026 (UTC)

Removed Edit

Hi Margotbean!

I made a small edit on Alex's page, and it was removed because the edit did't cite the release. You do a lot of work, and I'm sure this was easy to miss, but I never mentioned any release. I added to a sentence that did. I hope I don't come across as rude or petty, but just wanted to bring it up. Thanks for all you do! -- Lee The Penguin

Hello! You could not know this, but the upcoming v1.6.16 and v1.7 may change the names of the data files. Some have already been updated, so saying the data files are named x, y, or z is likely to change. Please remember to sign your posts with 4 tildes! Can't edit Weather page

Hello, I'm running into an issue with a small edit to the Weather page being automatically blocked for "adding external links" despite my edit not adding any links at all.

The wiki automatically blocks the edit, saying:

Error: This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed.

Please read Help:Editing. Afterward, if you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do.

A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Adding external links

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. - Sm00thJa22 (talk) 22:33, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

I've added the edit, margotbean (talk) 15:46, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

I appreciate that you have added the part about how they work "regardless of where they are placed on the farm" but I noticed that you changed the wording to say that they have a "very good chance" to intercept lightning strikes, which is not necessarily true and actually less accurate than the original wording. If, for example, there are many lightning rods on the farm and all but one of them have already intercepted a lighting strike that day, then there is in fact a very *poor* chance that the free lighting rod will intercept any lightning strikes. This is why I wanted to change the wording to simply say that "there is a chance to intercept lightning strikes", which is accurate without claiming anything about how good of a chance that is since the exact likelihood is already covered in detail on the Lightning Rod page: Lightning Rod#Chance to Intercept. Also, any idea why the wiki page still blocks a simple edit like this claiming that it is "adding external links" when no links at all are being added? - Sm00thJa22 (talk) 21:27, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

"Very good chance" is the original wording, as it is a direct quote from ConcernedApe, thus the reason it's in quotes.
Any edit to a paragraph or section containing an external link counts as an edit to an external link. margotbean (talk) 21:44, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
Ah, I see. That is terribly unfortunate wording on the part of ConcernedApe. Would it still not be more accurate to simply change it to "there is a chance to intercept lightning strikes" which is factually correct instead of using a direct quote that is factually incorrect?
I see now why the edit is blocked, because both this bullet point about lightning rods and the one above it about lighting not striking chests have references improperly embedded directly into the bullet points both linking to the same external reddit post by ConcernedApe. - Sm00thJa22 (talk) 21:54, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
I've made the changes, I think it's an improvement! Thank you, margotbean (talk) 15:38, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
Agreed, and thank you so much for all your help on this. I especially appreciate you upgrading the external links to point to the specific relevant parts of that reddit post! I'm glad we could make the wiki just a little bit better :) - Sm00thJa22 (talk) 19:49, 22 June 2026 (UTC)

Proficiency

Hi! Just joined but was looking at this and I noticed this: At skill level 0, each successful use of a Pickaxe, Axe, or Hoe costs 2 energy.

-Is there a way to group the water can with the other two energy usage tools? Or is it because the water can uses two energy regardless if u miss or not?, just wondering, bye! AcroCrafter (talk) 04:16, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

Tree Fertilizer keeps working after a tree is fully grown

Robotbarracuda (talk) 06:28, 14 July 2026 (UTC)

Hello and welcome! Your comment seems to indicate that (1) Trees continue to gain stages of growth past "fully-grown", and (2) The stage of growth continues to increase the chance that a tree will grow moss. But, neither of these things is stated on the wiki (that I know of). And so, (without consulting the code), it seems those things need to be elucidated before adding the info you're suggesting. margotbean (talk) 16:34, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
Thanks! Robotbarracuda (talk) 08:25, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
Is this enough info for an addition to a page or do you require something else to be explained? Robotbarracuda (talk) 23:42, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
We need code references for the relevant points. We also need to describe the phenomenon in as few words as possible! I think that covers it margotbean (talk) 17:14, 17 July 2026 (UTC)
If I were to write up an addition to a page it would probably go under the Moss page, likely as a "note" or "strategy" section.
"Because the effect of Tree Fertilizer is not erased upon a tree becoming fully grown, applying Tree Fertilizer can make the process of growing moss faster and more consistent by guaranteeing that a tree gains a growth stage every day, including after moss has been harvested."
Something like that. As far as code references go, I have to admit that I have no idea how I would go about finding that for you. Robotbarracuda (talk) 19:06, 17 July 2026 (UTC)

Page Creation

Hi there,

There's a number of redirects I'd like to create to make the wiki's browsing experience more fluid, but whenever I try making a new page, I'm hit with this message:

Error: This action has been automatically identified as potentially harmful, and therefore disallowed.

A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: New user created redirect

I attempted to bypass this error by creating a blank page first and then editing redirect code into it, but while I succeeded in creating [[XP|an empty page]], attempting to turn it into a redirect resulted in the same error. My account is over two years old and autoconfirmed, so I'm not a "new user" in any standard sense. Does an account have to be explicitly whitelisted to create new redirects? User:Gold Meddle 16 July 2026

Hello! Unnecessary redirects are undesirable because eventually pages link to the redirect instead of the source page. They create a snarled mess that translators find difficult to navigate. Thanks for your comment, margotbean (talk) 15:38, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

Clara Mullner move

Korean "Getting Started" image

Hello Margotbean!

I'm leaving this message because I'd love to contribute a bit to the Korean Stardew Valley Wiki.

I noticed the image(Getting Started - Wiki KO.png) at the very top of the Korean “Getting Started” page, which features the Korean text "시작 안내서" (corresponding to the text "Getting Started Guide" in the English version). While the translation itself is completely accurate and well done, I wanted to bring up a minor detail regarding the font choice.

I found a free Korean pixel font and recreated the header image myself. I’d love for you to take a look and, if you think it looks good, consider updating the current image with this new version!

Regarding font licensing: the font I used is distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, so it is completely free and cleared for commercial and non-commercial use on the wiki.

You can preview the edited image here: Imgur link

Since I wrote this with the help of a translator and am still quite new to wiki editing, I hope everything is clear and that I followed the proper etiquette. Thank you for all your hard work on the wiki!

Best regards, 보라리 (talk) 16:23, 26 August 2026 (UTC)

Hello! I have uploaded the image, it should update itself soon (within 4 hours at most). Thank you for the updated font! margotbean (talk) 17:25, 26 August 2026 (UTC)

Edit proposals

Greeting, I am here to approve some of the edits I think would be nice.

1) Quests page -> add to Bugs section: Catfish and Red Snapper being able to be requested during Winter for Fishing quest. This is a bug, as it's noted to have been fixed in 1.4.4 and 1.6.4 respectively in the patch notes. It has not been fixed.

3) An edit to Seaweed page, describing a method to obtain large qualities of an item. Such tips already exist on the wiki, on pages like Stone or Dwarf Scroll 1 & 4. The text I have in mind is: "The player may obtain large quantities of Seaweed by fishing on the Beach during sunny Summer days using Training Rod, as it's the only available catch outside of Trash and Sea Jelly." During sunny Summer days Training Rod cannot hook any fish due to the limited pool available - not Sardines, not Anchovy, not Herring, not Red Snapper. It is the only consistent way to do so, too.

I am interested in what you think about these changes. BridgeSeller (talk) 09:22, 30 August 2026 (UTC)

Hello! The edit to the Seaweed page is good. Please don't forget to specify "sunny summer days". For the 3 bugs, please report them on the forums first. Thank you, margotbean (talk) 17:06, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
I have reported Red Snapper and Catfish issue earlier this year, posted one about Trash Bear just now. They have been mentioned before years ago but it never hurts to bring more light to the issue.
Given that I will be "previewing" some more edits and suggestions here, how should they be handled? A continuation of this section or a new section for every couple of them? (Doubt it would be efficient to have a section per single edit unless it's particularly large). BridgeSeller (talk) 19:53, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
I would appreciate a separate section for every separate category or group of edits! margotbean (talk) 21:41, 30 August 2026 (UTC)

Edit proposals (2)

What next... 1) You can only receive a Pearl from Willy during 14 days after filling the Crab Pond fully, which is not mentioned on the wiki currently. Fish Pond. Pearl and Crab pages need to have the time limit added. I'll probably only Reference the code on Crab page though.

2) Fiddlehead Fern is a Vegetable which is not accepted in Pierre's Prime Produce Special Order, unlike any other vegetable. (due to being a foraged item which that SO excludes). A note on Quests page under that SO's requirements section: (except Fiddlehead Fern).

3) Tool pages don't mention enchantments consistently. Even if doubling up on full section on all the pages isn't worth it, nothing stops it from being practically empty, containing just a link, like Energy Cost is. Enchantments are a major endgame mechanic, having quick access to the info while viewing tools is fairly useful. BridgeSeller (talk) 12:35, 31 August 2026 (UTC)

Yes to #1, please proceed.

Specific enchantments that apply to that tool are mentioned on at least some tool pages already; I think users at the end-game stage already know what they are, so perhaps we don't need to make any changes at all. Let's open the discussion for further comment to other editors. margotbean (talk) 16:25, 31 August 2026 (UTC)

Fish Pond page is protected, so you'd have to add that one, I've done the other two.
For tool enchantments, I think mentioning it in initial description is a viable alternative, will probably look better that way. Separate line from blacksmith, immediately after, yeah, it's different enough. For Pans... Can't we just add the same structure as the other pages? Well, most. Pickaxes have a bit different structure from Axes, Hoes and WCans, but those three just have the line "The X may be upgraded at the Blacksmith. The cost and resource requirements for each upgrade are shown in the table below." which fits the theme and explains everything without having to change up other sections. The line after can give brief explanation of "Upgraded pans have better chances to get items (gotta rework this line but you get the idea)".
4) Oh yeah, Blacksmith's Upgrade Tools section needs to be updated to mention Pans, just "and Pans" a few times + a line explaining what upgraded pans do better like for other tools. BridgeSeller (talk) 12:45, 1 September 2026 (UTC)
Returning to this proposal, given that it's been a week with no activity from other editors, which does seem the norm.
To clarify, the only point not resolved is 3), about adding a line about Enchantments to tool pages. Axes, Hoes, Pickaxes, Watering Cans, and Pans have one page each for five total, while Fishing Poles have another five separate pages. I do think your idea of making it a single line after Blacksmith mention is more viable than an empty section, so:
"The [Tool] can be enchanted at the Forge at the cost of one Prismatic Shard and 20 Cinder Shards." That, or "The [Tool] can be given a random enchantment at the Forge." Any thoughts? The first one is a bit flashy and spoiler-y.
5) I'll also standardize Pans and Pickaxe article while at it.
I'm interested to see what you think about the subject at hand. BridgeSeller (talk) 19:37, 8 September 2026 (UTC)
Definitely "The [Tool] can be given a random enchantment at the Forge." over the flashier version! The edits you propose in #5 also seem fine, please proceed. Thank you, margotbean (talk) 00:17, 9 September 2026 (UTC)

Edit proposals (3)

1) There's an interaction between Special Orders and Journal which would serve a nice Trivia point. Due to the fact Special Orders check if a copy already exists in Journal before spawning one on SO Board on Monday (to avoid overlaps), the player can avoid repeating certain Orders (thus getting more of preferable ones) by keeping them completed in their Journal without redeeming the reward. It's quite useful in filtering unnecessary Orders.

2) Shop pages generally don't note interactions with various festivals properly. To clarify: something like Carpenter's Shop has a note "The shop is also closed on all festival days." It's inaccurate, as the shop is open on festivals which occur late in the day (Midnight Jellies & alike) and festivals where time continues to pass normally like Desert Festival. I'm planning to add a note on that to shops, though I'm planning to double-check it in-game beforehand to make sure they do function the same way, who knows.

2.5) Speaking of Shop Schedules, it's missing some of newer festivals like Trout Derby. Once again, I'll update it with the missing names after checking. Also, Travelling Cart is available on Night Market and Desert Festival - add to Additional Notes part.

3) Current Pets description states the pet is not adopted if the cutscene is skipped, yet 1.6 patch notes state that "You can now skip the pet adoption scene, which causes you to adopt the pet." It's adopted with a default name which is already noted above.

4) Blacksmith's Upgrade Tools section needs to be updated to mention Pans, just "and Pans" a few times + a line explaining what upgraded pans do better like for other tools.

I'm interested to see what you think about these changes. BridgeSeller (talk) 14:17, 6 September 2026 (UTC)

#1 sounds like a helpful tip, #2 sounds like an unfinished thought, please report back after you are sure of the facts, #2.5 sounds good, #3 sounds like everyone else forgot to update the page, please proceed, #4 sounds good. Thank you, margotbean (talk) 16:39, 6 September 2026 (UTC)
I have checked the in-game behavior and it's consistent with Shop Schedules page.
Another point is updating the shops.
This line would just be added to the header/elsewhere where it fits depending on the page structure. Might be adjusted in cases like Fish Shop not being accessible during DMJ. I think that's all there is to it, do tell what you think. BridgeSeller (talk) 14:17, 8 September 2026 (UTC)
This sounds perfectly reasonable. Thank you for double-checking! Please proceed with these changes. margotbean (talk) 16:14, 8 September 2026 (UTC)

Requesting Review for Revision 194269 of Friendship

Hello there! I just edited the Friendship page, but it has been (automatically?) reverted. It seems that this happened because I did not make an edit proposal beforehand. I was not aware of this practice. Sorry about that!

Therefore, I broke the page down into several top-level sections:

  1. What is Friendship and how to read it.
  2. How to gain (or lose) friendship.
  3. What are the benefits of maintaining high friendship.
  4. How gifts work.

I hoped that giving the page clearer sections could also help other editors find the appropriate place to add more information.

I tried to remove only repetitive content from the page while adding a few minor remarks during the process. I also changed 2nd-person phrasing to 3rd-person wherever I could.

Do you think these changes could be worthwhile? Aquila zyy (talk) 21:56, 10 September 2026 (UTC)

You believe it's a bug?

The thing about opening containers at the blacksmith I mean.

--Unsigned comment by Victor Drunkenstein 29 September 2026

Ostrich egg

Hi! I had recently edited the ostrich egg location since I received one as a reward from the raccoons. This was not a part of the main quest for the raccoons, since I have already finished that. I play on the switch if that matters. LivofIsengard LivofIsengard (talk) 16:57, 5 October 2026 (UTC)

Awkward Leo like wording

CandyNim (talk) 19:50, 16 October 2026 (UTC)

Hello! It's just the complex nature of gifting. margotbean (talk) 20:47, 16 October 2026 (UTC)
If I simplify the sentence by removing a bunch of things, the statement "Leo likes All Universal Likes (except Cooking other than Bread)" communicates to me that Bread is something he likes, rather than saying that "Bread is a universal neutral so it was never part of the category of Universal Likes in the first place".
Again I'm going to use Bread as the example.
